    I loved this album; I still love it. The diversity of all the songs shows that having John in the band really helped them grow. Unfortunately a lot of the fans wanted Vince back.
    One way they could have fixed it would have been to change the band name, kind of like Velvet Revolver was Guns n' Roses without Axl Rose. Just my 3 1/2 cents.

      To see the problem with changing the band name all we have to do is compare Pantera to Super Joint or Damage Plan ,it's extremely rare for bands to change their super famous front man to succeed ,being what we would consider to be a Super Group hasn't meant slot to kids the last few decades .

    Can I love both the Vince Neil and John Corabi eras of Motley Crue please? Seriously. This band was absolutely blessed to have almost 40 years of great music with some replacement members here and there. John Corabi, Randy Castillo, Samantha Maloney were all great helping to push the Crue foward.

      Try closer to 20 yrs,it was the 80's and then even in the 90s they only released 2 studio albums and 2 greatest hits albums and the 00's decade was again 2 studio records,8 yrs apart and another greatest hits package,R,W&CRUE along with a couple new singles just like DECADE OF DECADENCE and THE GREATEST HITS in 1998,so if u chop it all up it was truly just ONE AMAZING DECADE OF THE 80'S and imo along with SHOUT their best album in 94 with CORABI and really nothing until they came full circle in mid 00's and were now officially a nostalgic act and could just tour every few yrs and rake millions hand over fist and are now just GREEDY bastards and could care less about their fans,who made them what they are EXTREMELY RICH!!

    Nirvana released "In Utero" in September of 1993, Soundgarden Released their album "Superunknown" in march of 1994. Both of those albums had monster hit singles, in the heat of all this grunge success Pantera releases "Far beyind driven" in March of 1994, in spite of all the grunge saturation on Mtv and the radio, Far Beyond Driven reaches Number 1 on billboards top 200 albums and was certified platinum. That's Killing it. It doesn't much matter when their first major label album came out.

    • @jiverdude2775
      @jiverdude2775 3 роки тому +1

      Great points all around. IMHO, this record would've been more huge if it wasn't called "Motley Crue". Crue were the 80's. Decade of Decadence was their GH, and a send off. The two new songs on it were grunge light. It worked with Vince and his vocals. But Corabi is overall a better singer and vocalist. This wasn't a Black Sabbath, Van Halen or AC/DC situation. Even a Bad Company thing.... Paul Rodgers/Brian Howe. The 4 mentioned are classic rock and were perceived as that. Crue, for all the success, were looked at as a "Hair Band" and were seen as such. That 1994 lp is classic rock and it seems like fans are coming around. It went Gold. After all this time, it should be platinum. Like John said, do the best you can and pray others do their job too. TY.

    • @fullinbloom

      It does because I was only referring to the bands from the '80s, not every freakin' '90s metal band that had success during the grunge era. The first time I saw Pantera play live was in 1984 and even I consider them to be a '90s band. Would it make you feel better if I included White Zombie, NIN and Stone Temple Peckers?....or maybe Marilyn Manson....while we're at it, let's throw in Ministry....or how about Korn, they sold 2 million on the first album released in 1994, they also went platinum before Vulgar did and 2X platinum before Vulgar. Deftones, their 1995 album went platinum. Maybe we just go on forever and include the late '90s bands like System of a Down and Slipknot. Just kidding. During my conversation with John, I was only trying to draw a comparison to those bands that Motley came up with because the guys in Motley acted like it was John's fault for the record flopping. My apologies for not thinking to include a local glam band from Arlington, TX, fronted by Phil Anselmo, that 40K were aware of prior to 1990.

    No one wants to hear and see a glammed out partyband getting serious and heavy. It is a great great heavy hard rock album, and in terms of the quality of the music, lyrics and production the best album the band ever did. But that is what is the matter with the album, it is not by definition a Motley album. Thats why it failed miserably in the charts. And another problem is that it is very hard to replace a singer in a band and maintain popularity. Iron Maiden and Sabbath with Dio is two of very few exceptions., Sammy Hagar in Van Halen another. Motleys fans did not buy into the Crue replacing Vince.

    This is the best Crue record. Mick is the only member that admits it, but the others know it too. I wish they'd released it under a different name, but I'm sure the stigma would have followed it. But I often hear people say the problem was they tried to sound grunge. They did not. If anyone listens to The Scream, they'll hear where this album is coming from (Corabi) and Motley was drop D (and C#) tuning when the Seattle grunge rockers were in middle school. It's a shame. Still one of my favorite albums of all time and definitely of the decade. The Crab is awesome. 🤘🏻

    John Corabi very talented lad. thought that motley stop-off was awesome simply did not get the attention and possibly promotion it deserved. Humble thought process Mr. Corabi sure you know, we make our own Luck.

    Corabi is great - his acoustic shows are killer!
    The MC’94 thing FOR ME is kind of flat - I feel the choruses were not strong enough overall, and some of tunes seem a little samey.
    Having said that - “Hooligan’s Holiday” in my opinion is one of the best songs in the Crue catalog, and of the ‘90’s overall ...
    “Power To The Music” is a little corny, but also crushes!

    Hooligans holiday was ok. Best song was til death do us part, drift away , uncle jack was a bit dark but good. The whole record was kickass and ahead of its time. Power to the music was the only so so track

    Something else that's disappointing about all of this is how these kinds of albums get lost to time. As far as I know, Vince has never performed any of the 94 album live, has he? I can't imagine. Anthrax never performs the John Bush era stuff. Judas Priest never performs the Ripper Owens stuff, etc. So these albums get buried and fans just forget about them as the years go by.

    Skid row went gold in 95. Warrant in 92. Poison in 93. Queensryche in 94. Generation swine should've went Plat in 97. It was very good too

    • @jasonmorgan8110
      @jasonmorgan8110 3 роки тому

      @ yep no other genre of music had their heads cut off. Just sunset strip heavy metal. I agree 100% that queensryches last good album was empire. Promised land was God awful. Dog eat dog, subhuman race, native tongue and the crimson idol were all amazing albums. Not just "for that time" but just great records period. Generation swine was the crue album from 97. Pop culture lied to everyone again and they all believed it like sheep. If you bought that album then you know it's good. Afraid, let us prey, glitter and a bunch of other very solid and very heavy tunes

    Musically the Motley Crue record is their best record. Their first 2 albums and Dr. Feelgood with Vince are their best with Vince. The rest of their records are good, but just pop hard rock.

    Nikki knew Motley were one of the two big bands of the era and in the long run would have weathered the storm. They could have used a different band name with Corrabi and took the hit, having to build things up again but ego and money people spoke loudest. The different band could still be churning out fresh material when they weren't touring with Vince (after the storm) and had their own following. Short sighted thinking.

    I mean it was a decent record but that’s about it. They looked cool in the video but I think maybe they should have gone with their gut a bit more and put out an album with more uptempo songs and double bass like live wire and that vein on song. I bought it when it came out and it was ok.

    Can any one please point out how pathetic and weak Alternative bands looked like and sounded like back in 94? They downgraded the image and sound of what a band should look like, I mean they looked like nerdy, weirdo, malnutritioned groups that hung out at computer labs, played chess or collected comic books. I am not talking about the long haired Seattle bands or the hard grunge bands but what came after that. I mean mtv and the industry was a mess because 91-92 never really impulsed or influenced hard hitting grunge bands until maybe 97-98 when the post grunge bands showed up like Creed, Godsmack, Sevendust- I mean it was 80s/90s traditional hard rock, tuff guy rock all over again. But in 94-96 it was a crap show with bands made of people that seemed to take bums off the street and they were not even adults but weird kids that were angry at their fathers, looked like Weezer, had not fashion sense and looked like my sister could kick their asses.

    It seems that MC wasnt allowed to grow mature song wise by the fans and record company cause the light rock style of the band sells more, Corabi was too good for them a high league player, song writer

    I was in grade 7 or 8. My friend, he loved the Crue. But I loved GN'R.
    So to me they were poseurs. They got a little cooler around Dr.Feelgood.
    Now I like them a lot! But at the time, No. Total cartoons.
    I sort of delighted in the break up because my buddy always ripped Axl on his plethora of bullshit LOL.
    Oh youth.
    Anyway looking back on it, I have a lot respect for Corabi. Primal Scream was awesome!
    I'd really love to hear MC with Corabi. They might still relevant if they had ride it out.
    Vince is washed up, But he'll always have my deepest heart felt sympathy for his daughter. No joke. That's hell on earth.

      primal scream was vince...you probably know that, but you were talking about John and then mentioned primal scream. Vince had the perfect voice for the music..he and Stephen pearcy I always found similar back then...they had rough LA sunset strip voices which gave them cred with the guys, but the producers could squeeze some good work out of them on the albums which led to top 40 hits and chicks...Vince gets killed nowadays because he let himself go , but man back in the day he was a huge part of the sound and the image.
