Good morning Brock. I'm going to give my two cents on this subject because over the years I've gained some knowledge on the subject. Two products that have worked extremely well for me is "Rust Fix" and "Rust Mort". You just take a wire cup brush on a grinder, knock off the loose Rust, and use a regular wire brush in the corners. Blow the dust off, wipe it off, and either spray or brush it on. After drying it will turn the rust into a hard primer and the rust will be dead. I usually scuff it up, put a good coat of Rustoleum primer, and a topcoat of your choosing. I believe that both products come in spray cans and regular cans. I'm just trying to help. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂

Rust-Oleum has a product called Rust Reformer that you just spray on and call it a day. It works great and if you don’t like black, you can spray another color over it. If you have small copper parts, apple vinegar, lemon juice and salt works well to remove the patina before you put polish. Good luck and Happy New Year, enjoy your videos.

I’ve had great luck with POR15 and apply it to the underside of my mower deck every ~2 years.

I used POR-15 on several projects including 3 hay wagon frames. Good stuff and they are still look great after several years. Expensive but to me worth it

Gloves and a respirator when scraping or wire wheeling the rusty spots! ;)

I’m sure you’ve already gotten heaps of great feedback but I’ll go ahead and throw mine in as well. OverRust is what I’ve used with good success. It brushes on a light tan color and turns black as it binds to the rust. The last gallon I bought was around $100. It’s pretty thin and goes a long way. Beware though. If you dip a rusty contaminated brush in a gallon it will weaken the solution. I’ve used a gallon to do an entire 24’ gooseneck frame.

Hey Brock, I think you've convinced me to try this stuff. I've always been shy about getting it because of the price. If it's a one and done though that sounds like it may be worth the money. Cheers! 🌴👍🚜🇨🇦🇺🇸

You should consider a wet sandblasting attachment for your pressure washer preparation is all if you want to get a good finish

There's a company that has trailer mounted dustless media blasters. I've seen them on MotorTrend or somewhere. They use baking soda as I recall, and do a really nice job, the media dissolves instead of leaving sand or glass everywhere, and they're fairly economical. Maybe Brock could wrangle a sponsorship out of them :)

I have had excellent results with the rust”converter “ products on rusty farm machinery. One thing I learned was to always pour what product you are going to use into another container and never brush out of the original can. It contaminates the product and will lead to premature curing of the product in the can. Way to expensive to waste.

I restored a rusty old 10ft x 6.5ft trailer with metal ramp gate using Corroseal water based rust converter. I purchased a 1gal bottle on ebay. I did a quick washing of the dirt and mud off first. Then I brushed it with the converter. It goes on thin and white and turns the rust into a shiny black ready to paint primer. It took less than 1/2 gallon. Then I just sprayed it with cans of black paint the next day. It did a great job. That was a few years ago. The paint has faded since but the rust is still gone. I could not imagine it being much easier. I see it for $55gal on ebay right now.

Hey Brock, it may have already been mentioned but a pneumatic needle scaler works good to remove rust in hard to reach areas. Its designed to remove slag from flux core or stick welding.

The rustoleum product would be great on chrome rims to remove rust or anything that is chrome. POR-15 is the best around if you don't want to physically remove the rust. They've been using this product for years. My brother has used it on his truck builds and loves the product. I'll be coating both my trucks frames and undercarriage with POR-15. The only thing I haven't heard you mention is the mobile media pressure washer method. It's a pressure washer system that uses water and media to remove rust easily and without the mess due to the water. A lot of people use it cause it doesn't heat up the metal like regular media blasting does. There are independent companies and people who do this for a living. Just Google search it and see if this is something you'd like to try out.

Hopefully that stuff doesn’t damage your concrete. As caustics and concrete don’t usually work well for the concrete.

I've used POR-15 a few times, it did seem to sun-fade after a few years if not top coated. Glad you used gloves, it takes a week or two to come off skin. It will never come off your clothes and you may want to lay cardboard on the floor, it won't come off there easily. Eastwood sells a similar product that is pretty good.

Electrolisys is a great, cheap option but a tank to hold the material might be a problem. You'd probably have to dismantle it into smaller parts for that. I use it a lot in restoring cast iron pans and it does a phenominal job!

I think the second cost has to go on pretty quick
Second coat does not adhere to first coat when dry. from my research, oil is the only think that works. Any coating over rust is not good. For my logging gate, I just spray it with paint each year. Seems to work. Don't have all the answers.

There is no silver bullet to rust removal, Baking Soda is slow and very messy. Spray on solutions I think you know.
The only way for a proper job is wet sand blasting
