I can see how this stereotype is trying to ruin my fun and stoping me from doing what I love and want to do,sometimes even parents don't encourage us as you said *stable income* , *love of the craft and not for money*
The way you posted this when I was in a middle of an art crisis shows you truly are a blessing to the art community. 😭😭😭
Its ok 😉
This is horrible advice and no one should listen because the chances of having a social media career like this lady are as low as finding success in the real world. Keep your day jobs. You will deeply regret it if you don't.
@@bethbloomer5951 Ok boomer 👌
@@bethbloomer5951 You have your own perspective but I don't belive in this thing.
@@bethbloomer5951 and keep your mouth shut and let people do their own thing❤️
Wow truly you have an artist’s heart! You empower artists to continue what they do and that is VERY relevant not only to artists themselves, but to the community. Thank you
Yes! The world is missing out if one loses heart in this. 💖
I loved this video so much, I'm a young student trying to pursue art and struggle to find hope in the industry, especially because I am not encouraged by either my family or my school. So thank you for this message, now I feel more optimistic and ready for the future ❤❤
If you think you're going to be able to support yourself financially from art, you are in for a sad shock. Art students are already off to a bad start because of earning a pretty much useless degree. Zero return on investment and in yhe end you will either have to teach art, struggle and be below the poverty line, or you'll wise up and get a job to FUND your art making. People do not pay more than $100-$200 for ANY art unless it is a commission, and those are as rare as unicorns. Art school brainwashed you. Wake up.
@@bethbloomer5951 I think you misunderstood, I'm not in any art school, I'm just studying art during high school. I know it's a very big struggle to earn money in this field, but I also plan studying architecture in order to, at least, feed myself. I would really appreciate if you could provide more information of any sort about the artist's wage and lifestyle (if it's as bad as you say) because I love art and working with it, so please share any tips you have 😊
@@henrique436 nope..keep doing art...as your side work ...coz I'm going to do the same...my parents, my art school, as well as my teachers everyone support me...they even try to promote my art works if they met a art professor or some kind of competition....❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Keep going ......
@@artisticmind6648 thanks!! ❤
LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this and your BEAUTIFUL painting! I find the starving artist archetype so serious and tortured. "I must suffer for my art!" It's the Victorian romanticization of what an artist is. And it's such B.S. Looking forward to your take on perfectionism and procrastination. Liz Gilbert says that perfectionism is fear dressed up in high heels and pearls. Love that image! :-)
Yes!! Perfectionism is a perfect hiding spot! haha
As an artist, I am often faced with this dilemma. I went to art school and art instruction was my career for a while and then I went corporate to have a more stable life. But I know that I long to do creative, artistic endeavors every day instead of sitting in an office. And when I see freelance artists I think it's so cool. But the thought of financial insecurity is really daunting as is my own self doubt. I think another hindrance is being an artist but also knowing sales and marketing skills to be able to make your art a business. It definitely isn't the beaten path and I think that is why it is so frightening to walk it.
I encourage you to set up a small corner in your home or apartment wherever you live, keep your paper, brush paint there, and do some work every now and then. If you would like to chat sometimes, you can find me on Facebook, Nilloni Diana Chophy. My fb cover picture is the latest work I did. I'm also a full time teacher but I am trying to push myself to do art, and there's no way I'm giving up my steady paying job because my art can't support me just yet.
You inspire me a lot to pickup the brush which I left 5 long years back.☺️
This is such an inspiring video, thank you so much!
I quit my career as a consultant to pursue art, a childhood dream of mine. I don't know what to expect but I would love to do art full time in the future.
Put all the noises away and enjoy the process of this beautiful piece being created along with her soothing voice! You'll feel the energy flowing !
Bless you mako. I'm a writer - been writing for 20 years - and i've only come to terms with the fact that this is my vocation and not my well-paying job only last year. I try hard to keep that in mind but i keep falling back on my knees at the slightest setback. This is so helpful.
Yess!! The queen is back with another inspirational video! 💜💜
Every video of you is like a breath of fresh air. I never thought that I wouldn't earn money on drawing or painting. I think I will! But your words are so in right time! Thank you dear Mako. As Amara Otiim said you are a blessing for our art community.
Wow, thank you!
This painting really expresses the magical moments that nature can offer and thx for ur advice on this topic 😄✨🤩
Thank you so much 😀
This painting 🎨 is like a realistic art and so refreshing
Wow! What a beautiful painting, looks like a floral fairy. 🧚♀️🎨Mako, you have a soothing voice which spreads positive vibes. 😎 Thanks for such an amazing painting🎨 and explaining career in art!

Thank you Mako, Your voice is so pleasant to listen to, and that painting is absolutely gorgeous. I can not wait for the next tutorial video :)
Great words and beautiful artwork. Thank you! 💖
This is the type of painting I've been waiting for you to do. A main subject/character and a beautiful background. Thank you. Crazy how tough it is for me to put this stuff together
This is exactly what I needed! 🥺🥺🖤
Yes, what you're saying is so true, Mako! There are so many different types of art around us every day, and sometimes we forget that an artist had to go and create those things. Without artists, music, books, or even colorful packaging would not exist, and our world would be a lot duller :P
Exactly!
Thank you for sharing not only your artistic talent, but your heart of inspiration for all artists!
Wow love your vids and your voice is sooo claming. You instantly became my fav UA-camr 🤗
Awesome artwork! Truly impressive... Thank you for sharing. 👀🎨👀

Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for this...I’m currently applying to art schools but my parents are super questionable and concerned about my choice to go. It really makes me lose faith but this video has helped me so much in finding hope in my dreams again. ❤️
Hi
It was nice to see your watercolor art video just recently. It was great to have your painting and the steps needed to draw a painting that you can tell.
WOW!! SO SWEET!
Beautiful watercolor!!!💖

Thank you so much for the love and suppoer. 30 years ago, i wasnt sure about this craft. I found you a year ago and you are a blessing to the art world. When i was young and my parents lived in a small house in the countryside, they told me, “Art is a hobby not a career!” That broke my heart and i questioned everything. I was only 15 and loved drawing and painting so that hurt me. I then got less and less interested in art and. I started getting into accounting instead because i realized art wouldn’t make enough money. I stopped until this year. When i started to paint again, my art was more akin to a hand print crafted by a child. I was unsure but i kept painting and got better with each piece. Thank you so much for being my mentor and being with me this rough journey!

Hello. It has been a while since we talked. Thank you, Mako for being with me the past 2 years of this art career. I started improving my skills and felt confident to sell my art in a gallary. My art sold very well and i felt more confident in this craft. I just want to say thank you very much for being with me through my ups and downs of art. I recently got my kids into art as well and they love painting with me. Thank you for everything, Mako.

Lovely posture of the beautiful lady and the floral door is just like a dream land. I love the overall creation with your valuable talks and suggestions. Have a good day.
And you are actually the best youtuber I know I love you keep it up
Gorgeous painting! You are more than an amazing artist, you are a wonderful therapist too. You have beautiful hands, your voice is nice to listen too, and I love your music. So glad I found you...
Thank you so much!
Wow... she called me out at the end.... ‘procrastinating making art’ and ‘perfectionism and procrastination’ is me in a nutshell 😅
Yes my mom told me that there's no money in the courses that I wanted when I told her I wanted to take Creative Writing or Multimedia Arts when I was still in HS. I ended up taking Engineering and now I graduated and working as an analyst. But I still feel lost... And all I think about rn is how I could do the things I love doing and make money out of it so I can pursue my passion...
The painting is amazing 🤩
Loved the painting!Want more!

Great video and reat message. I'm 31 and have lived the starving artist phase. And I gave up many times. But now I realize anything is possible and it all depends on me. I'm very excited about my future as a bblooming watercolorist!
Awww yess! I think everyone that starts working on their new dreams have to starts somehow. Even if it means eating cheap frozen fastfood or sell some of your things so you can at least pay your bills that month. Been there, done that! Haha But anything is possible if you just keep going. Switching my thinking to who would I BE and what would I do if I already had what I want, really helped step up my game. And anything is 100% possible, 100% of the time! And anything else is just a story 🙈
@@Makoccino Right on! Right now though I have a full-time job, but I make a lot of time for my art. I was never 'good at art' because I was so self-critical that I didn't even wanna try it. So I only did photography and videos because that's what my mind told me was possible. But I did a ton of internal work, which you probably have done also. My mind always kept telling me it's 'too late' to start painting. But now I just do it anyway. What a beautiful adventure. I don't have any expectations of when it's gonna happen or how it's gonna happen, but all I know is I can and will become a master watercolorist. Thank you for all the inspiration and teaching. It is priceless.
MAKO,U AND YOUR DRAWINGS ARE AMAZING.... JUST I LOVE YOUR DRAWINGS.. WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS MY PAINTINGS ARE VERY MUCH IMPROVED...
LOADS OF LOVE AND SUPPORT FROM INDIA 😅❤️🖌️
When I was younger (5 or 7), I said I wanted to become a writer - I loved writing poetry, poems, short stories, even went as far as writing a novella for a Literature project in junior high... Writing was so therapeutic for me, it was almost otherworldly, and it seemed like I was really good at it.
Thing is, I was also good at Science and other stuff, so I often got told by many family members, "Why not become a vet or a physician instead? Something you're good at and actually allows you to make a living? You won't be able to get a house, travel, or have the life you want if you spend time writing!".
I once answered back, "Well, Tolkien, M. K. Hume, Rowling, Meyer, Brown and Follet are authors, and they've amassed quite a fortune, haven't they?", only to be told, "You actually think you'll be as good as them? Those are the lucky ones - the rest of the authors in the world have to find other jobs or they'd starve otherwise!"
That did it. I put down my pen in 9th grade and didn't write for almost a decade. Went on to study 2 different careers, and now I'm a teacher - I feel like I've been living a zombie's life for the last ten years, though. What you mentioned about "doing it for the love of the craft" really struck a nerve, because it's the same bloody thing I get told as a teacher. I ended up being told the same thing in a different field of work! I should've just pursued my dreams and goals instead.
I regret my decision and want to pursue creative writing more seriously, but have no idea how to go back to doing what I loved - I still write as a hobby sometimes, and I'm still working on a series that I started many years ago, but I can't find the courage to publish anything or pursue creative writing as a career because there's always that tiny voice inside my head that keeps repeating my work isn't good enough to be published, or even considered by an agent in the first place.
It's so frustrating, terrifying, and painful.
You're not your thoughts, only the thinker of your thoughts! You can choose what you want to think and believe. So if you deep down want to do something and it sets your heart on fire, then do it! It doesn't matter what others might say. You get to decide what your story is and what to think. There will always be someone better or worse than you. Or judge you, no matter what. But as creatives, we're not here to compete or seek validation but to contribute with our art and make the world a better place. Imagine all the people who would read your stories and see them as blessings! Just start! See this as your moral and ethical obligation :)
Your painting ...omg wow
