      I hadn't realized that Bob had passed as well. His voice is stitched into my memory banks ike Casey Kasem's and Ernie Anderson's (the Love Boat and ABC announcer). It's also such a surprise to me that Neil actually did a Rockline episode. I had lost touch with this show by that time and never heard this when it aired. Thank you so much for archiving and posting this for us fans!

      @@YAMISOOLD2009 Yeah Bob passed away like 4 to 5 years ago. I believe it was cancer also. 👎. I use to listen to Bobs show on a syndicated deal on Sunday nights. My station was KLOS 95.5 in LA. Which l believe Bob Colburn worked for. He had all the greats. I believe not only Neil he had Geddy Lee also. Both people are staples to rock. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

      I'm trying to remember if I ever got through. I was only in my early teens, and it's kind of murky now. I used to get SO nervous whenever I called into the radio and heard that ominous beep when they answered my call. Now I want to go through my old cassettes to see if I recorded myself on the radio.

      I have it too. At least pretty close. Bought them in 1991 too. Ludwig Super Classics in factory Shadow Blue finish. Sizes: 6,8,10,12,13,16,18,22. Mine have the old RIMS mounts on them. These 90's era Super Classics are almost impossible to find online for sale. Neil's best sounding kit IMO. At least "live" that is.

      That is a ludwig classic series, wasn’t it? The super classic series, I believe had the long lug cases that stretched across the drum with a threaded portion for each lug on each end
      That’s awesome that you managed to get one. Does it have gold hoops and lug casings?

      Good question :
      When I went over the details with resurrection drums , and what to do with the golden hoops my choices were a few :
      In the poster those are real golden plated hoops that means this drum set could have costed me $25.000 to $30.000 thousand ...not in my budget.
      Second choice was to get the hoops brass gold plated ,but I was warned that it will peel away in time .
      Or leave the hoops in chrome .
      I left them in chrome .
      ( but I regret not getting brass plated)

      That was such a strange era of RUSH. Most of it, at least what I think, was Geddy’s use of the Wal bass and the rest of the band having to adjust their sound to match it.
      But I understand that Geddy probably felt that the Wal bass and similar were the future and he was getting himself ahead of the game

    It’s interesting that Neil would be up for this. I think he was more open to it prior to their hiatus in 1997

    • @YAMISOOLD2009
      @YAMISOOLD2009 2 роки тому

      I would suppose that after the tragedies in his life he put up even more boundaries around interviews that he couldn't control. Print interviews and even recorded interviews for TV often let the interviewee see a copy of the questions before the interview so that they can prepare to answer and even veto questions they don't want to answer. A live show like Rock Line would have possibly been very triggering to a recovering man like Neil post 1997.

    • @stevet7487
      @stevet7487 2 роки тому +1

      @@YAMISOOLD2009 Excellent points. Even still, it was pretty unusual for Neil to do any interviews until the last 10 years of their career. Geddy and or Alex appeared on Rockline promoting every album from GUP through Test for Echo, and this was Neil's only appearance. This is not the complete show, and the first caller (not heard) gushed over Neil which made him very uncomfortable. To your point, I was surprised when he started doing interviews during their last 10 years, but as you indicated, I'm sure the subject of his wife's and daughter's passing was taboo.

      Here in northern WV late 80’s until around 1997, most Friday and Saturday nights meant listening to 89.5 … it was an unidentified radio station, likely operating unlicensed, that would play entire albums. And he mostly played live Grateful Dead and RUSH
      And he, whoever he was, played a LOT of it. He would play a lot of other stuff that you never heard of as well. Especially local Morgantown bands that had made a record or two and were trying to get some level of air play
      The person running the station never spoke, or anything like that. Just played music beginning around 7 or 8, then ran it into the early morning around 5.
      89.5 was especially cool having the whole “mysterious” factor. You couldn’t help but wonder who it was that was running it. But it could have been anybody. The station ceased around 1997, maybe a little later. I left for the army in fall of 1997, so… sone time around then

      I find it humorous when people say they 'hate' Rush, often knowing very little about them aside from the few songs they've heard. You'd better do a ton of research on someone before you can unequivocally say you 'hate' them. There's really very little to hate about Rush. 'Dislike' their sound/vocals-maybe, but from all outward appearances, excellent humans!
