"This is not similation. Get ready to destoroy the enemy. Target for the weak points of f**kin' machine. Do your best you have ever done." My thought: "This is not a simulation. Get ready to destroy the enemy. Target for the weak points of the machine. (Repeated final sentence)" Somehow, the Engrish here is notorious.
Man the story to this game is fucking crazy, you're basically killing all of your brothers in arms in order for you to become the ultimate super solder. Great game, a Legend among Arcade and SHMUP games!
Perfect tribute to TOAPLAN Co. Ltd. In 1994, TOAPLAN ceased operations due to bankruptcy. Atlus and Cave staff made at Default Top 5 High Scores a hidden message; if you read up to down and left to right the High Scores initials, you can read "TOAPLAN Forever"
Definitely not a patch on Dodonpachi, but I definitely like the co-pilot's voice. He's amusingly flippant, like a cocky bit character in a Top Gun movie.
It is, big time. Here you slaughter lots of comrades just to become a super soldier. In Dodonpachi, the commander tricks you into destroying your squadron again just so he can conquer the world.
Hmm, that's the same sort of warning klaxon that would play when you faced a Maverick in Mega Man X4/Rock Man X4. This is still a good game, though and it's probably the first one that not only had voice acting but that actually had GOOD voice acting, too.
+alienspacebat It's kind of bullshit, actually. Just put two difficulty modes (instead of two loops) and make the true ending requirement be a one-credit-clear of the harder difficulty.
I mean, it's fine for me in DDP 4 because the weren't these stock little pixie templates that they could copy and paste like Touhou. They actually had detailed machinery and mechanical pieces to them that looked great. These new element daughters? Not even interesting (though the blonde one's voice is...yes). There was no way anyone can say that wasn't fanservice. But to be honest, at least they always make voices an option and they actually WORK to make good artwork and concepts unlike Touhou.
4:35: I HATE that shit, for some reason it's one of the hardest parts of the entire game for me. I'd use a bomb like he does, but what's the point, it won't kill them.
I keep all voices off myself. And no one really pays attention to it cuz "ERMAHGERD, HIBACHI IZ MAI WAIFU!!!1" but, even the most basic enemy craft has unbelievable detailing along with the DFK bosses. They do have to draw this stuff. No one pays attention to the things with the actual EFFORT put into it but a little loli even I can recreate FLOODS Pixiv and DeviantArt before the game even takes off. It's repugnant.

Lock 'n' loll, baby. ;-)
It disappoints me that more Cave games weren't released in the US.

Cool! :D

It pisses me off how forgotten this game is. Everyone skips this game and thinks of DoDonPachi :(.
This game deserves an official North American release on the Switch.
Is it just me, or is the entire storyline in the DonPachi series completely messed up?
It is, big time.

this on some drakengard level shit
BOM-BUR! Has to be right up there with RAWKET LAWNCHAIR!
Rat Bom-bur!
Just a couple more shots!
@deoxyribose It common for a lot of bullet hell shooters to have a hitbox much smaller than the actual ship. It would be impossible to win otherwise.
Played through this for the first time last night. Amazing game. Not sure how many quarters it took me to beat, but it was a shit load.
lol the announcer is fuking hilarious
@meatspin17779 totally agree mate! Donpachi is legendary.
the announcer guy is pretty cool
50:31
What are those things? Looks like one those California raisins.
That's Pipiru, Toaplan's mascot. Cave was founded by ex-Toaplan employees after the latter went bankrupt.
I thought tool-assisted runs and legit "longplays" were two different things. Was I wrong?
THIS IS NOT SIMULATION, GET READY
TO DESTOROY THE ENEMY, TARGET FOR
THE WEAK POINTS OF FOOKIN' MACHINE.
DO YOUR BEST YOU HAVE EVER DONE
"DIFFICULTY LEVEL: KEANU REEVES WOULD HAVE A HARD TIME"
Awesome...
memories..

What does the announcer say at each boss?
I'm still wondering why some refer to this as a special genre. Do not see any relevant difference to usual contemporary vertical shoot em ups.
22:14 BOM-BOMBUR!!??!? lol the way he says it makes me laugh
why did you chose the plane with the wave gun why not the one that shots green rays in a straight line
The trap devised by Satan strikes back!

Id like to know how this is possible without dying...

OOOHH! NICE GAME!!!

First level sounds a bit like Dragon Roost.
Mega man 4 x4 came out 2 years after donpachi .
do u mean cockpit or hit his wings? If it hit his wings then he won't die.
it's pretty easy imo at least by cave standards
Why is this in english? Is there an english psx iso?
more like engrish :P
DON PATCH!!!! xD
1 person is Xoxak.
"Perdo-Pachi"
"DESTOROY" as in destroy lol
Is there any videos on here of this game without people using cheats like this one
Only after this game did the storyline start it's nosedive. After DaiOuJou, the story was pretty much thrown out the window.
You dodge those bullets like an Asian. Incredible.
And sixth level.

Thought this was about that orange guy from bobobo at first :P
yeah like tool assistance and editing isn't cheating
LOL 1st boss:
"-_- I'm not dealing with your bullshit. I got shit to do. BOOOOOOOOSHHH!!!"
I don't beelieve it
Is this touhou easy mode?
play it yourself and you will see.
Then again, tool-assistance is cheating. Just in a different way.
One that's unfortunately succumbed to the obnoxious weeaboo servicing loli bullshit. Still fun though.
