Great idea switching the two commodes. You need those slider things for moving furniture. They are round coaster type things. Some have fuzzy carpet bottoms for moving on floors and some are slick for moving on rugs or carpet. Your swing is so charming. I love the new light covers. Much better.
SO glad you did not paint the commode and it looks SO much better in the pantry ( perhaps someday you can center with the doorway?(which means a rustic bench may need to move 🤣)
also - love the new light fixtures ( maybe lower them a bit ) - a comfy chair and small table under them and near the window. commode in place of the radiator ( since it's not in use) can you also give a tour of your outside as you approach from the drive - is there a road directly behind your house? love all your vlogs - thanks!!
Yes, absolutely move the table closer to the window so you can enjoy the view out the window as you have your breakfast. I would put the sideboard where you had the lighter sideboard before. That was a great idea to switch the sideboards. The darker sideboard is perfect, I don't think it needs to match the same shade as the doors and everything. It looks better slightly different, giving the room that collected look with history and character. That painting looks great there where you held it up. And when you said something like "I thought it looked too heavy, I'm just going to put a rustic bench there" I completely agree with you.
I have moved furniture just like that myself.😅 Great decision on switching the two cabinets! The changing of the light fixtures was an excellent choice too!👏🫶🤗
Hi Jeni. I was going to suggest staining the lighter commode, but you didn't need any help. Switching them was a brilliant move. You have excellent taste in decorating and picking vintage treasures to display. And you are fun to watch in action. Glad you didn't get hurt pushing these heavy furniture without help. I like putting furniture diagonally in a corner and may be a plant or branches behind. Happy decorating and happy beginning of spring. I am glad it's weekend. 😊
Love the cabinet switch! ❤ I was thinking of moving the table closer to the windows, to catch those fantastic views. Can you hang the 2 lights over the table?
I thought the same thing but then remembered when we had a different table there and tried it, it was awkward there but only because that left the other side of the room bare. Thank you for your suggestion.
Great start. Switching was the way to go. This will help with your pantry needs, for sure not having to bend so low to view food items. I would not get hung up on matching the exact stain color. It will all blend when the room is done. Although it appears as if you love the new lights, honestly they get lost in the room, they are too small. (use them somewhere else) I would put back the others. Yes, to the window seat. Maybe eliminate the oval table. Not sure, it seems slightly out of place. Grab another long farmhouse style one, with a rug under it. The room appears to have a stark white paint, maybe try to add warmth to the paint color. Your pantry still needs some shelving, more at eye level. You could buy an old armoire, just cut the depth off the back and retro fit, to appear as a narrow cupboard. You got this! Ya, you might be getting just a few too many of the same style pot.
You are welcome. Maybe use the lights in your room for rent, as nightlights above each side of the night stands. In a breakfast room, I think 2 nice comfy chairs near a table are always a welcoming vibe. It will all work out. :)
Love watching your videos and am so jealous every time you come home from the markets with so many treasures!!! The switching of the furniture was brilliant. Also...not sure if the new shades are a little too small....since it is a breakfast room, what about basket shades? Simple, but add texture. I agree with a window seat. I love adding textures to rooms through fabric, flowers, greenery, and of course good finds from antique shops!!
Oh thank you for these wonderful ideas! Absolutely texture! Yes. Need more! I wish there was lighting wired for the ceiling but it’s impossible. I’ve added a third opaline shade bc it was feeling bare and it also gave me a good opportunity to share the for sale/idea on Etsy. I’ll share an update ASAP.
I also like the darker commode in the breakfast room better😊. The small lampshades are very beautiful. Thank you for sharing your excellent taste and creativity ❤
I agree that it would be good to refinish yhe walls. Not sure if you have spare tiles from the floor or can buy more but cut to size with the tops polished smooth they would make good skirting boards. We recently tiled our hall, dining room and kitchen in limestone and i asked the tiler to create skirting with the tiles. It works beautifully, it extends the floor area and is easy to clean. I think i would try the cabinet in front of the radiator and style the top as i think onto you have done that it will create a different vision. Like your idea for a window seat.❤
Wonderful advice! Your time to write us is valuable and I appreciate you sharing your ideas and experiences with us. I tried moving the commode in front of the radiator but it stuck out too much. Justin says I can’t cut a hole out in the back. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Love your channel and all you are doing. Especially all the decorating with the beautiful antique pieces you find. Love that you are moving furniture around by yourself! I’ve done that myself so many times! ❤
Once again such beautiful style. Love the simplicity of the new shades and the dark cabinet is perfrect. Beautiful pieces to build within the room will find you. Love the vlogs as usual. NZ
Haha! just had to type this comment at the exact flip moment! I was very anxious thinking you were going to paint that beautiful piece. So glad you didn't!
Jenny you're so much fun. We're you alone snow boarding? You did great. I like those type cabinets soo much. The new one gives you lots more space for kitchrn/cooking items. Love the flip. The lamps you had up are better than the new ones I think. It's a tough choice. Glad you all are well.
Loved the vlog. You have me hooked on the earthenware pots too now though we call them crocks in Australia. I managed to find one the other day and I feel so happy. I love your home and your gentle way of life xx
Love the cabinet and I’m so envious of your confit pots ! I would love to purchase some from you but the shipping cost are so high ! I’ve actually been able to find three of them here in Oklahoma, albeit over a 15 year period, but I’m always on the hunt ! Believe it or not the town in which I live was settled by Italians so I’m fortunate to score some beautiful European items at garage sales on occasion! Love your videos! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for writing us. You'll be able to find sellers in the states thay offer the confit pots. Italian crocks/stoneware are also lovely! Especially the ones used for salt or olive oil.
The antique cupboard is beautiful and looks great in the pantry. Where are you putting all the items you put in the wagon?? Great finds at the brocantes. Thank you so much for sharing.
I would keep the textured walls in the breakfast room. I'm thinking that the oval mirror with the thin gold frame has a disco vibe not in keeping with the french country look you're after.
Like the table ok....ancient material that matches the floor. I'd replace the gold knobs with porcelain on the new buffet - same colour as the strainers you placed on top.
Those hanging lamps are beautiful! I think they fit your vibe perfectly - and what if your soft seating you spoke of was under these someday - to make a nice reading nook in the morning?
I don't - we have done many other builds though - you should check out youtube for ideas, there's many out there. Depends on how "permanent" you want yours to be. If you don't want to attach to your beautiful walls, you could look for a wooden bench to fit under the windows - with pillows, could serve the same purpose and be flexible as you change with time?@@Frenchcountryfriends
You would have to take the drawers out to film the insides properly, however, in the first drawer on the left, above 1787 , you can read ..?..DE BRETAGNE. In the drawer on the left, BTES (short for boîtes) PASTILLES, the view of the word below is cut-off from our view ...CH. MAB?, short for Chemin Mab , probably the address.... It seems that the wood used to make the bottom of the drawers were taken from wood boxes used to ship or store some sort of candy mints made since 1787.....that piece of furniture was certainly not made in 1787

Thank you for joining us on our channel! Your bike looks really fun! How often do you ride?
@@Frenchcountryfriends Hi, my ebike is a lot of fun. Now that we have nice weather here in Pennsylvania, I ride three or four times a week.

the switch was Everything 🎉 great decision!
Honestly your best vlog yet…..I loved it all. Your thought processes, your purchases, the music…..fantastic.
Thanks so much! I shouldn’t be so shy about my creative process and styling adventures…thank you for the encouragement! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Switching the two cabinets looks a lot better. A tassel hanging from the key would look very nice!
Oh yes! We have them hanging on our doors but a smaller one would look lovely there! Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

It’s fun when the ideas flow. I appreciate your encouragement. Are you foraging for spring blooming branches for your home? 🏡
Yes, best part of spring. 😊
Woman after my own heart! 😂 I have moved soo much furniture using a rug or old blanket!!
Hello kindred spirit! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Perhaps some open rustic shelves in the kitchen to display pots etc. Love your videos and everything you have done with the house ❤ 😘
Yes! Thank you! ❤️That would be nice! I keep toying with the idea of floating shelves.
I like the switch of cabinets
Love the new lights. Much better 😊
Thank you! I eventually added a 3rd one. I’ll share an update soon.

The darker Sideboard does look way better in the room and the other one is much lighter for the kitchen area .
You made me laugh, I loved how you switched out the 2 cabinets!! I've done that so many times! Love this video ❤

The commode and al of your other brocante finds are so gorgeous.

I had one made for my dining room by a carpenter and I love how it came out. I’ll try to send a picture.

How about a corner cabinet to fill an area in the breakfast room?
Oh possibly! I was also considering some type of shelving unit…not sure. Update soon!
Justin is some lucky man, this lady is one in a million ❤

I’m wondering if the commode is made from repurposed wood such crates? .. and the swap looks much better p.s. there is a shocking lack of pottery ! 😂
Oh the crate theory is possible only because the 3 different stamps.
❤❤❤
Well it's a beautiful display, as if in a boutique or store ....but what about your pantry items?...or do you live "d'amour et d'eau fraiche"? :))

I promise I will never paint it. 🙏
No leave it in the natural look like it is.
What do you think of abortion being enshrined into the French Constitution?
What a weird question. Do you really think this channel is about women's rights ?
