I throw the Dobyns XP 794.5 as my dedicated A Rig Rod here in TX. With a 300 size reel it is perfectly balanced & can cast an A Rig a country mile. Love this rod!
That 7'9" zillion is the perfect Bobby Barrack style frog rod but for really heavy cover instead of more open water like his frog rod. The short handle makes that particular type of cast easy, loads deep enough to keep them on and strong enough to drag them out of anything.
I bought the 7’7” Expride based on a recommendation by Tactical Bassin when I inquired about swimbait rods for non-boaters in northern Indiana and Michigan. Right now I have an arig on it, but works well for 6” swimbaits and have done some flipping with it too. Great rod!
This is coming from a guy that uses all megabass and Shimano. I know IROD gets looked down at but I have there 7’10” bama rig special it is actually an amazing rod. It’s 7’10” heavy mod fast 1-4 oz lure rating but the weight of the rod is why it’s special it only weighs 3.9 oz. It has enough power to flip and punch and I have even caught glid bait fish on it.

Dobyn fury 795
Link the rods.
I bet that zillion is nice. I have the 6’6” extra fast and it surprised me with how much I like it. It’s pretty much my dedicated soft jerkbait rod.

Full size rigs on a Champ XP 794.5. Compact rigs on an Expride 77H, micro rigs on a cheap Lews speed stick 73MH
I throw the mini flex by hog farmer and tactical rigs on a swamp Survivor x10
You can definitely downsize your rod with the smaller rigs!

That’s what I throw. It’s better than most A-Rig rods.
Braid or floro?
We prefer fluorocarbon, but braid is fine too if that is your preference. You can get away with a softer rod using braid as a main line.
