Whether or not you think it's a good Reverb/delay unit for ambient music. And how it might compare against others in the same price range for ambient tones, ease of use, and flexibility.
Please, a more in depth video about the looper. comparing it to the OG DL4, explaining basic functionality from old unit + new changes. enjoyed your video on the one shot looper, but I think a full deep dive into the looper would be amazing. love your music man!
Can you give me advice on how to use this in kind of a snapshot mode where I use the same algorithm and just change the feedback and mix with each switch? The way the tails cut off when changing presets is killing me. I want to love this pedal but the lack of spillover might be a deal breaker and I’ll have to sell it. Let me know if I’m missing something here.
I wasn't interested in the DL4 until I learned that it also had reverbs. That's what pushed me into deciding to buy one whenever it comes out. It will make a nice addition to my hx stomp rig
@@coreyclark6505 I think it's supposed to have most if not all the delays. And some of the reverbs. I want it to free up some of the processing power of my hxstomp

Im sorry if this was already mentioned. I've been down the rabbit hole here... Is the reverb only on when a delay is active? I feel like i've been in the essential oils isle and i can't smell anything anymore. or tell the difference.
I’m curious how this would work as an acoustic pedal? I have an LR Baggs venue, since this has reverb and delay, would be interesting to try it in the FX loop of the Venue pedal
@@colinbaggs2068 I tried a few reverb pedals through my rig, the least favorite was the LR Baggs Reverb, the Boss RV-6 was good, but wasn’t what I wanted, I currently just use the reverbs in Helix Native which is essentially what the DL4 is
Hey Jonathan, thanks this is exactly what I was interested in seeing about this pedal. So I guess you can mix and match any of the reverb and delays. Do you think this is one of the top units out there for soundscapes and ambient style, I was also considering the specular tempest for a delay and reverb unit. Any contenders that you think could go up against this? The only thing I don't really like is that the reverbs are kind of hidden and you need to push the tiny button and look at the manual. Also I really look forward to seeing what you can do with this pedal and I loved your demo on the GX 100 boss system, I look forward to seeing you work with that also. Sorry for the lengthy reply.
I'd like this answered too. What other Reverb-delay petals have you been looking at? So far I have an EHX Canyon and it's great but I want something with more Reverb parameters. I just tried the Walrus Audio Slo and it was horrible, I had to send it back. So much noise. I have a list of higher end ones on my watch list on the Reverb site, but I'm not sure which one to get.
Thanks for posting this. I am new to the Dl4 and I’ve been through the manual and every tutorial I can find but I can’t figure out how to delete the last loop without either creating a new loop or powering down or changing the global settings to one switch. I would love a looper tutorial on the mk2.
Hey ya...I just got my DL4 yesterday and needed some time to figure this out too: If you got no loop-playback running, a press on Rec/Overdub will start a new loop (and erase the previous recorded one). So if you need to reset your loop, just stop/pause the old loop...and then hit Record to start a new loop.
Another great video! Just started building out my pedalboard and think this might replace my MXR Reverb and Belle Epoch delay. I love tape echo however this pedal seems to have so many easy to dial in sounds. Can you mix the parings of reverb and delay or are you stuck using those indicated for that knob position? Thanks again!
You can combine any delay model with any reverb model, or even just have reverb alone if you turn down the delay mix. You can have reverb route into delay, delay into reverb, or a parallel mix of the two.
Great vid!! One of the main issues here with this for me is not knowing whats actually going on within your selected sound/preset. I mean which reverb might be applied and what are the settings to make sight adjustments etc.. Also, is there a way of turning up the volume on a selected preset where it may be particularly quiet because of your mix setting?
This has been VERY helpful! I bought this unit recently, and with it being my first delay/reverb/looper pedal I’ve been a bit overwhelmed operating it. Would love more of your deep-dives into this unit. Thanks!!
Does the time/subdivision knob work the same as it did with the Mk1? I want to be able to make the same time-warping sound as with the Mk1! From what I understand the Mk2 works the same as the Mk1 but with finer quality, more presets and has more memory. Are there any cons you get by buying the Mk2 instead of the OG DL4?
Thank you so much, I really was wondering how where the reverb part of this pedal... Because it would allow me to free my board from at least one reverb pedal! Earing your demo I must say that I'm disappointed... Could be great for soundscape but not for standard use. The spring is far from even a simple Hall of Fame. I would be interested in hearing the plate! If it is better I could change my mind. Anyway thank you again
Great stuff JC. My concern is that this might not be all that great for bass? The reverbs don’t seem to have anyway to change the tone/eq of the verbs. What do you reckon?
Thanks so much for the video. Do you know if it's possible to set up presets with an external MIDI controller like a morningstar engineering and have a variety of delays/reverbs/ and mix parameters on each preset? Example: Preset 1 A slapback delay into a spring, Preset 2 A longer delay and the cave reverb with a higher mix ratio? Hope this makes sense. Currently have the HX Effects and really only use it for delays and reverbs so am considering making the change.
@@zackorr421 absolutely. Sorry! I think I would take a look at the manual and see what you can switch via midi - personally I'm not great with Midi controllers so I would probably answer wrong!!!
I'm guessing the Room, Hall and Plate are not the Dynamic algorithms from the latest updates? Shame if that's the case, but understandable I suppose, if it's a DSP thing.
Sorry if this is in the video and i missed it. Is there a way to use this as ONLY a reverb pedal, no delay? (i dont have a reverb pedal that does 100% wet)
you can adjust the dry / wet ratio for each separately (using the same knob and a shift function, so it's not perfect, but you definitely can have just reverb! The verbs are also pretty damn good I think, some unconventional ones in there.
No reverb in the DD200 and fewer algorithms. Also, and this is more a subjective thing, more preference, but having owned the DD200, I can say I found many of the delays to be quite sterile and lacking in character. Wasn't that impressed with the stereo image either. Some people swear by it and those people will have no need of the DL4, but it's dismissive to think everyone would be happy with the same pedal.
@@johnnathancordy I’ll give you that, the boss is pain to operate. But it’s reverbs and delays are absolutely gorgeous. You can disappear for hours. To call it sterile and without character is well…b******s 😂.
