I’m glad you showed your process. These delays and verbs can be hard to get just right. So many UA-cam guitarists only show the perfect takes and people get disappointed when the pedal doesn’t work perfectly right off the bat. You’re showing how the process of finding these great sounds work. It’s appreciated !
Thanks very much!
Bill, being a fan of centering prayer for many many years, and a fan of your channel leads me to say, just those few moments you worked in the strains of Be Thou My Vision is a sent blessing for my meditations and devotion time today. As always, thanks for what you share with us. Sam...
Agree 100%. It was a surprise and a moment I didn’t realize I needed.
This is awesome- thanks for sharing your creative process, and keep on making beautiful sounds
Yes, by all means a volume pedal tutorial... By the way, inspiring, cool, dreamy workings of yours. Thanks a lot.
I just picked one up and this is making me even more excited to think of the possibilities!
You sound great, as ever!
Great to hear, and hope you enjoy it!!
Your channel is awesome man. Whenever I have some “sounds” in my head, I open your channel.
Wonderful wonderful, I love your videos Mr. Vencil!
Those Glitch delay sounds are so great yet touchy. I find they can really work but only in very certain situations. I also like making my own loops and reversing them while slowing and speeding them up getting a similar sound.
The video is entering as it is informative, clear and well paced. Yes a cheat-sheet just might be what my dyslexica would appreciate. There seems to be a clarity in the different delay modes that I appreciate. I own 2 of the original rack mount versions of delay, I think this will be a nice addition to my looping delay - faux FRIPPITRONICS endeavors.
Thank you for your fine demo.
Watching this while waiting for the DL4 to arrive this morning. Looking forward to making my home into an ambient space today...
The master of ambient music! Cool demo!
Very healing tones, thank you Bill🙏🏻🎶✌🏻🌍
Yes for the Volume Pedal...I also think I need to check out the DL4 MKII.
Volume pedal tutorial please! I'm also looking forward to seeing you use the TC Infinite some more. Mine was delivered last week and I love it.
Thanks for the hours of inspiration BTW. You are truly a unique voice.
More than the pedal i am stoked by your "clean" tone!
You sir, have earned my like and Subscribe. Keep up the awesome work
Great video. Very inspiring. Yes please for the volume pedal tutorial.
Wonderful tones!
I had one of these 24 years ago with the e-bow. Never left the bedroom.
Sweetwater definitely is awesome, but not as awesome as you, Bill! Thank you for all you do to share with us! ✌️😌🎸
The Strat sounds sweet
Wonderful!
Jens Larsen recently put out a video for a Bill Frisell chord melody piece and in the video apparently Frisell appears to be a big fan of this pedal.
I have maybe 3-4 delay pedals as it is, man it’s hard to just get another one. I suppose it would just have to be for inspiration. 😅
Bill always uses this pedal.
I am once again begging Bill to be my personal guitar teacher so I can music as beautiful as him.
That’s a fun way to play Be Thou My Vision.
Spectacular!!!!!!
That was fun! When you accidentally changed the reverb, as Bob Ross would say, "A happy little accident".
yes please, vol pedal tutorial!
Good job 👏
I love the original more than any pedal on the planet. Too bad it died after a few months. I could do with this one if it doesn’t break so easily.
Engaging in badassery, my friend.
This has a lot of what I like about the Mooer Ocean Machine. I like that you can put the delay and reverb before or after the looper. This is also a more robust piece and is new. Mooer doesn't seem to acknowledge the existence of the Ocean Machine anymore. I might have to try this one instead.
Ocean Machine was basically a Devin Townsend signature ambient pedal. I’m not sure why you would buy another pedal that does the same thing as Ocean just because MOOER no longer makes it. I still have mine and it works great! I also like that it’s a signature model. Devin has some great examples of how to use it (also on this one). All I have to do is rewatch those videos to remember why I got it.
Although I do like the look and sound of this Line 6 pedal, for me it’s hard to justify getting it with all the overlap.
Aside from the Ocean, I’ve got a Raster 2, a Zoom, and the Plethora FX which is stuffed with delay types. Then there’s the various VSTs.
practically the only channel on you tube that suits my influence! awesome and then some!
I know I'm late in the game but I just started exploring the Looper as nicely demonstrated by this excellent tutorial. I can roughly reproduce the sound of the drone part of the looper. I followed each and every step that Bill described. However, when I hit the Tap button to start recording (with the Tap button now red) and play a few notes, it starts looping before I hit the Tap button to end it. So it becomes all messed up because I am not done playing all the notes in the sequence I would like to play. I set Mix to fully counterclockwise to have no delays for that part and just have the Particle Reverb that Bill used. I did try to record an empty stretch (wasn't sure why he did that if the memory was cleared prior). Am I missing something? Thanks.
Nice strat
Thanks!
Hi Bill, I know I'm late, but how did you get full wet delays? I turn the mix knob all the way and it doesn't even come close. Still have a strong dry signal.
I still gotta figure out if I'm doing something wrong.
Great Demo!
A volume pedal video would be great and perhaps a footswitch since we can have both
alt/legacy lit means you're on the legacy delays, not the new ones- you noticed that when you got low-res instead of glitch 👍nice demo of the one button looper too
Wait, so you didn’t use any of the new delay modes on this or did I miss it? Great video.
someone likes the obx.... nice!
how does the glitch delay sound compared to its big(er) brothers such as PodGo etc...Using 'tweak/tweeze', can you make the DL4MKII sound like a little Microcosm/Mosaic like you can with the PodGo ?
Delay on output A, shimmer reverb on output B, is that possible with the DL4 mk2?
This or the Meris LVX for ambient guitar?
I remember it said "Bone head simple to use" on the box 22 years ago but this new one isn't so simple for us boneheads. The Line 6 guys are hilarious.
Good 👍
Awesome...... BTW which fender model is that sounds coool
Thanks! It is an Eric Johnson Thinline Strat. 2018.
Is it possible to control the delay parameters with an expression pedal on this unit? I want to be able to change the time and feedback settings in real time while playing solos to get a wavering pitch shift sound similar to what Fredrik Thordendal does on his solo album Special Defects.
Although I have not actually tried it out, the manual does provide instructions for controlling one or more parameters with an expression pedal (and MIDI too). So I would say that the answer is "yes".
Check Plateaux reverb with Tweak on 12-1PM and maximum Time!!!
Forgive me if I missed it, but Bill, how do I erase (undo) loops after I have created them? I cannot find this information anywhere. Thanks again!
It appears that you can't delete a loop while in 4 button looper mode, other than recording a short clip over it. In the one button looper mode that I demoed, you hit play and just keeping holding the button until the loop deletes. Kind of like the original Ditto looper.
I tried this pedal has a lot of things I personally would not use they should have concentrated on making the looper

🎶 Stranded in this spooky house
Spotlights are swaying and the phone lines are down 🎶
Strat sounds great! How are you liking it?
I have to say it is pretty sweet! It is very bright though, so definitely need the tone controls to get a good tone.
I can smell the wood off the sound of that Fender
Im here because of Bill Frisell
Bill, have you ever listened to the band ozric tentacles?
I have heard the name, but I don't think I have ever heard the music.
@@chordsoforion I think you would like them Bill, they have many ambient instrumental adventures !
So…is theDL4 mkII more reliable? I grew weary of taking mine apart to clean all the time. Kinda sad for a Expensive pedal. Thanks for the video.
Good question and of course only time will tell. But it does seem pretty sturdy.
I am returning mine because it crashes, creates random digital distortion and the subdivision dial works only some of the time.
To be fair there is apparently a firmware update in the works for some issues people are having but I'm going back to my old faithful Boss delays.
How about.a video on the new RE-2 or RE-202?space echos Jane Sweetwater send you them!!
Ask oops
Is it worthy of the name? Line 6 DL4 MkII Review
Who knew Bill from "the last of us" is such an elegant guitar player!
Very nice and helpful video but man you gotta fix those 60 cycle hums, totally kills the vibe.
You got it wrong way around Bill…. When you press the alt button and it goes green you are using the legacy delays and not the new line 6 delays.
Wouldn't you think the same tech is in the Helix?
Would not be surprised.
Am I right to assume that this device is capable of performing reverse reverbs?
No - there is no specific reverse reverb. There is a reverse delay.
@@chordsoforion thanks for the reply. I guess I found the perfect excuse to get myself an OBN Minim.
How to turn off the Effect?
Just press whichever preset button is active (lit up) to bypass the pedal.
I also got mine from sweetwater… but… they didn’t pay for it, hey!
You are on my short list of people that I would like to jam with.
❤️🎶🎵🎸🎶🎵🙏🎶🎵🍀❤️😎
Take my money
So as a customer of Sweetwater I paid for this pedal for you???? ?????? Ill have to ask Sweetwater...... thats not cool.
Good video though.
Definitely ask Sweetwater. They will be able to give you more information about their marketing program and how they work with "influencers". Sometimes companies approach me, and sometimes I approach them. In this case, I asked Sweetwater to send me this pedal because a bunch of folks asked me to demo it, and I want to bring value to my viewers by working with gear they are interested in. But other times, I purchase gear (like the recent Strat and Ibanez guitars) to achieve my musical goals, and I share that part of my journey too.
@@chordsoforion I will say you have probably sold me on this pedal and I have watched over 10 demos. This was the best one.
@@chordsoforion Also you should do a follow up to the video of your daughters, or wife, selecting a pedal chain based on the "looks" of the pedals. I found that to be one of your funniest and best videos. As a musician we basically do all the same chains so it was hilarious to see them make a "chain" for you... and your reaction.
You do realize that no one gets a pedal for “free” - it’s an exchange of a service. Creating videos and editing them takes a lot of time and work. This video and the editing took more of his time than the pedal is even worth.
This guy is so annoying that it’s funny- he’s also a crap player and he’s too old- but I like him !!!!
jeeze guy, why don't you just blame him for being white and hetero as well. Ageism is legitimately f'd up. Older people have historically contributed a great deal to culture and society and the ongoing quality of life in many cultures. Ok, so he's too old for you.... so how are going to feel about yourself when you're that old? Or do you just plan to be dead by then? You're living on the coattails of a lot of "old" people.
