Matt has inspired me to create my own UA-cam channel. Now, I haven’t posted anything yet, but I am making a big step into video. As a writer I have been obsessed with the idea of writing books (which is still a big goal of mine). But now I see that I can still write creative stories on UA-cam, it’s just a different medium! Thanks Matt!
I find that I have MASSIVE bursts of creativity and between that I have structure. I take care of the structure as often as I can so when the creativity hits (Hello, Chocolate Master Sword) I can execute it.
Joined the Slow Growth community and finally got the courage to post my first video! I still care about the opinion of others, but I’m learning to do what I want anyway 🤷♂️
resting is absolutely important, i can't think of the number of times i hammered my face into code for hours and it just kept bugging out but the next day after a night's rest i was able to come up with better solutions seemingly effortlessly and very quickly.
I'm finally starting my youtube channel after telling myself I want to for YEARS. It's so unfortunate that I keep putting it off and every time I do I know I'll regret it. I particularly like point five about making content creation a habit. I think this is going to be the key for me in not only producing content, but improving it over time.
I'm not really the commenting kind of person, but ive been watching your videos for a while, and they've guided me perfectly through my baby steps out of the black cloak of anxiety, suicidal thoughts and depression. And this video, was the final hit for me to start planning for my week and take the first step for some big ideas that I've had for ever. So, after this journey ive been on with you as my second safe place (only coming after my closest friend) i think it's time:) Thanks Matt. It's pretty much safe to say you've basically saved my life:)))
Guys, I'm not kidding, Master UA-cam is actually amazing, I was part of the first round and it's SO THOUROUGH! Ngl as a creative myself, this touched on the aspects of YT videos that I always think about and some of the others that I don't usually think about.
Love the point "Treat content creation like a habit". I have been doing youtube for 6 months and there're ton of time I didn't feel like creating new videos cuz It was not easy to create at all. But I kept pushing myself to think and that was when the idea came out. I'll not give up and so will you, New UA-camr! :)
The "eating a frog in the morning" concept has been really helpful for me. Sometimes this means going after something creatively challenging like tackling an illustration, sometimes this means doing something tedious and boring like responding to emails.
“Focus on the work, not the reward.” I know it is simple, but it’s something I really needed to hear right now. I’ve been chasing the next promotion at work, wanting to make more money. But honestly I haven’t been happy. I’ve been focusing on tasks that I think will get me promoted, instead of doing the actual work and creating things. I watched this video at the right time, and heard this one sentence that gave me a lot of clarity. Thank you so much!
I am so with you right there. I'm too, hung up in chasing the next "big" thing or join a tech company for a better salary etc - but i somehow know it's not going to make me happy.
"So leaving your work in progress is actually a really effective way to return to a flow state much quicker the next day" - Huh... that's a big one I have probably avoided my whole life / rarely tried. Thanks Matt!
Hi Matt, I'm sorry if I mistake any words, I'm from Brazil and I've been following u for a long time. I don't know if u will read this, but u are really helpfull to me and I really appreciate it. U do a amazing, organized and constant work that keeps me coming back to your videos to remember the promises I made to myself to be better. Thank you.
The habit of creation is something that should be talked about more. It is not about creating the same work at the same time, but it is about creating different things multiple times.
So much motivation watching your videos Matt. I took the Master UA-camcourse last year and it really was the reason I had the confidence in my work to even upload. I still refer to it often and use the course videos as motivation and reminders of what really matters in the way we approach our vlogs.
I took Matt's course and it was quite useful. He clearly put a lot of work into it and it goes deeper on psychology than most other people talking about how to UA-cam. Like the importance of the thumbnail and title, thinking about what your audience really wants from the video, not just what you want to tell them, and pacing your videos structure. I think my videos became much higher quality since I took his course.
Thank you so much for making this video Matt! It has been really helpful. Thanks to you and other youtubers I managed to get out of an addiction, develop new, effective habits, and even sticking to a routine for the longest time yet! I got my life back on track! I will definitively apply this concepts to how I take action towards my drawing studies and projects, especially doing it everyday as a habit and the tackling my most important tasks first thing, as I still have to work on my consistency and self-fulfillment every day. Thanks again! Can't wait to watch your next video!
Hey Matt, would love to see "A minimalist approach to plan you life" that tackles overplanning, perfectionism, etc.. on your channel, have a thought about it please. Love from Syria.
Matt's videos have motivated me so much to work towards what I want in life. I just wanted to say I appreciate you and the ideas you share that have allowed me to work hard and play hard.
I joined the Master UA-cam course a few months ago & have recently finished watching the entire thing I have begun my journey on UA-cam. Without a doubt this course & the community are worth the investment & the time. Cheers, fellow slow pokers!
For anyone on the fence about buying Master UA-cam I’d highly recommend it. The value, the community and the production quality are so good! I’d happily pay way more and really respect that Matt + the team are more focused on helping as many people as possible vs just maximising profit.
👍👍👍Matt’s UA-cam Course is amazing! I’m a student of his and this coarse helped me to start my own UA-cam channel. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to start their incredible UA-cam journey! Thanks Matt!
By watching your videos I can tell that you LOVE what you do and i think that that helps a lot for the people out there who is so afraid of doing what they want. so thanks man youre like that one friend who pushes other people to give it a shot and dont give up on what we are so passionate about.
2022 is about to end and I am reinforcing myself to create new identity leading to good process or system and then my outcomes will be my byoroduct starting today at the age of 22 I don't feel shame to start now because it's more important to start at the very outset rather than being perfect. #If u want better results then forget about setting goals.Focus on your system instead.
I took the course last year and It’s so good I might just go through it again for a fun reminder on the strategy portion. Really happy with the videos I’ve been making!
"It's all about the craft." Truer words cannot be said especially for designers, producers etc.Only now in my 30s I am beginning to find it more fulfilling than just waiting to clock out of the office.
THE MASTER UA-cam course is AWESOME! I was a little apprehensive that it was going to be a good investment for where I’m at on UA-cam (15k subs) but I’m blown away at how much I’ve learned and more so been inspired. And no… Matt didn’t pay me $5 to write this comment.
Just wanna note that now that first video...or what presents itself on your channel as the first video now has over 50K views! Congrats, Mate! (or should I say Matt!)
Been here almost from the start. I once wrote you an e-mail, just to say that I liked your work. I think you had 500 subscribers 😀You even replied back then 😂
I just going to tell you this man! Your back and I'm glad for that! Congrats for this classic Matt video ( hopefully you understand ) -everything it's in good way👍👍
This video somewhat reflects the book "Show your work" by Auston Kleon. I work as a UX designer and that book has helped me in putting my work out there. The points stated in this video work 100%.
Love the video and I really appreciate the Dana Linn Bailey feature. I have been focusing on rest more and it has been amazing. Actual rest, like sleep, and other rest where I can get away from the work.
To the *incredible person* seeing this, I wish you all the best in life❤ don't over blame yourself, accept things and go forward. Don't let others define what “success” is for you. Get up, learn the skills needed and get after it, all the keys to a happy life is in your hands. Keep pushing.
Absolutely solid advice... but if I could add one more... Try carrying a notepad and a pen in your pocket everyday for 3-months (ideally, put your phone in you bag and replace it with the notepad). As creatives - although rest, as Matt has pointed out, is incredibly important - we don't necessarily follow the same work patterns as everyone else and inspiration, a good reference, ideas or random thoughts can disappear as fast as they spring up. For many years I struggled to keep on top of my notes app to the point where I stopped taking notes. Having a physical notepad changed my workflow for the better, as I could 'carpark' any important throughs quickly and return to the task at hand, then, whenever I have a free minute, as I'm waiting for a bus or standing in line for coffee, I can flip back through and rediscover what was written and take action and build from there. Always remember, the dullest pencil is sharper than the sharpest mind...
Just started my channel 2 weeks ago.. Mans hasn’t touched a laptop in legit YEARS 😅 Haha. I’m 4 videos deep, editing takes me forever and the discomfort in recording myself is a feeling likened to standing up in front of the whole school for show and tell as an 8 year old. Nonetheless I know my why, I’m enjoying getting better and enjoying the process of it all. Content like this is so helpful, positive and reassuring 🙏
Great advice for any kind of creativity. I edit shows and movies for a living (so I guess not crazy different) and one of my biggest struggles is managing myself to be productive. Definitely will be applying most of these to my process, thank you!!
I saw this vídeo, got really pumped to do the Slow Growth and then I saw the price! As a person who lives in Brazil I immediately got frustrated BUT and its a big but... I saw the discount code in the web site... Just enrolled. THANK YOU
