Here in Chattanooga we have underground Chattanooga as well, due to frequent flooding chattanoogans raised the street by about 30 feet making the first or second stories of our buildings Underground
Rebuild it and turn it into more housing or shops? I think it’s a space with a lot of potential if it can be brought up to code. I love walking around market square, but it would be nice to have more areas to explore than the main strip. What are your thoughts?
That's cool as hell.. My brother told me about that a couple of years ago but I had actually forgotten about it. I'm going to have to check it out for myself..
Youd be surprised, ive lived in mid TN my whole life & have seen many posters/signs in west, mid, & east TN. Many many more people go missing in cities like Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, & Knoxville than what most would expect. So many kids & adults have gone missing in the past 10 years its honestly sickening, but they dont show all that on mainstream news
There's been at least two people (one that I know of was homeless, I'm not sure about the other one) die in that short little bit of alleyway. And the Police have cameras set up on either end of the alleyway.
Twice i managed to sneak in when they were clearing some of the runble out back 08-09 (i think). They left the lock off the door both times. Most of the storefronts were stil burried in several feet of dust but i saw quite a few artifacts from half a century ago or more, very cool! Edit: i got into the REAL underground knoxville tho, which is the original gay street street level, 30 feet below the modern gay street. Only a few parts are accessible now and thos were the ereas being cleared
They've installed cameras at both ends of this, and the Police will show up if you try to sleep there. Besides, I know of at least twice that people have died in that short little stretch of alleyway.

Yes, there are entrances to a couple of different apartments down there. I'm not sure if they are still being used or not, I haven't been down there in a couple of years.

Not too many. It was built on top of all the dead from yellow fever
@noellemcclain ...Thank you. I forgot about the Yellow Fever Pandemic, and many port cities were affected by it.
Portland Oregon has the Shanghai Tunnels
