I agree with the AI tactics in DAO. I loved making my own team combos

I never really bothered with the tactics in Origins, tbh.
I just set them up to drink health pots when low on health, lyrium pots when low on mana and group heal when a party member reached 20% health.
      That's about it.

@@theobell2002 I would have my character freeze enemies and set up the tactics so when the AI saw a frozen enemy they would do a move that would shatter them, which would one shot kill most enemies.

I remember my first dragon fight in DAI, when I got hit for the first time and wanted to use a potion it turned out that my team has used all of them in just a couple of minutes. I ended up disabling using potions then. Also after a while I during random enemies encounter I lost the fight super quickly for no reason. It found out that my tank, Cassandra disappeared some where. It was because of the warrior ability (I think the name is "Charging Bull" but I'm not sure cause I'm playing with my native language). She kept running with the shield for like 15 seconds until her mana bar ran out and she stopped like a mile away from my team when we were already dead. I had to disable most of the abilities as well and use them manually with every character

The AI seems to me that it was thought to simply assist you as you 1vs X more than create team combos.
The combat in DAO seemed more focused on entire party working in synergy (though i didn't play far enough yet in DAO to say i'm 100% sure) but in DAI it seems to me after many hours and playthrough into it, it's more meant to simply allow you to switch between 4 different builds at any time, while the AI itself only survive or try to attack as much as possible.
Imagine if you could set up your mages with focus build like Solas to constantly wait with cooldowns before doing combos upon combos with his team, while you play a different class and make this entire set up ?
You could have a solas that basically plays an OP dps always waiting that extra second.
Or making an assassin actually abuse stealth in nightmare mode and wait out for weaknesses and try all the time to make combos instead of wasting stealth most of the time.
I really hope the next DA is god tier, when seeing the recent good games we've got (though sadly none in this genra) i'm really hoping bioware pulls themselves at their utmost and EA just cut them slack for the rest of the game development.
Good AI, amazing story, large battles and different gameplay per classes is what i'm looking for in the next DA, i hope they deliver
(Though ngl i also hope they bring back multiplayer because i played that as much as the solo in DAI xD)
I'm so glad people make content still on DAI though, and your videos have helped me play through nightmare and remake a build so fast JC, hope you can keep doing what you like on youtube and thanks for all this DA content ^^

0:16 I can only assume they did this to either try to make it "less complicated" by removing extra menus or even worse to force you into using the tactical mode more often when playing higher difficulties. Either way i hope the ai system from origins makes a return

I am quite new to all the DA games but I like the control you have with the tactics list. I would like to see that return as a sort of Expert Mode option in DA4. I think they perhaps left it out so it just simplified things for new or casual players. What I do love is that you can cast any skill/potion etc manually in the first 2 games from the radial menu but in Inquisition it seems you can only cast what is slotted on your quickslots (unless I have missed how). I still like the combat in Inquisition more. The combos and sound effects are just so satisfying 😁 I fought Saraath in Trespasser multiple times to hear that music and sonic boom sounds

They scrapped the tactics option because it was prone to breaking, so instead of you allies doing what they're supposed to they just sit there.
One example of this is on Xbox 360 if I tell my mabari to use dread howl against clustered enemies he just freezes.
Of course you think they would just fix this, but that would've required effort.

I usually go around the ai by giving them a alot of passives that help their role then build into specific use ie i make my cassandra build into crit and tank passives then make all her armor stagger to help cc it also helps damage as theres a templar skill that deals nasty damage on incap enemies.

Thanks for more tips on AI. I’ve generally just avoided using it, though more recently I’ve usually just set them to use as many incapacitates as possible so I can mass detonate all the time

I've never thought that the AI in DAI are that bad. Until I saw my 3 other companions just standing there chilling when they literally saw the enemies affected by fear status lol.

the tactics system of Inquisition forces you to play active damage dealer. No more pure tank builds or CC healer. I really hope this is addressed in Veilguard cause it really was fun from time to time to play support role in Origins and just watch your party obliterate everyone

I never ever used the tactical camera. like clearly this was supposed to be an action game, not a tactics game.
I just try to equip everyone with the best gear I can and hope for the best.
never touched the tactics screen either.
I do want better AI tho. also there's no dedicated healing class right? cuz that seems to be my biggest issue is relying on potions for healing when in DA2 anders could heal your party.

    • @RPGBUILDER33
      @RPGBUILDER33  2 роки тому

Indeed, it's been kind of an action RPG game since DA2, but a advanced tactical system is always welcome

The game would've been to simple with healing class. You have to play around positioning, mage shield and keep taunting your enemies with your tank

Did you find a way for the Origins AI to revive fallen teammates? I remember that was a key feature I needed, but I never found anything that worked. (Manual revive was also difficult because it was hard to find where they had gone down.) What was your preferred way in Origins to restore AI health? Thanks!

Just did the game couple times in on nightmare, never have to complain about the ai or the tactics, works fine for me.

you gonna let the A.I. learn, just like everyone, do I expect you to be BETTER at your first attempt of the game? by trying "no death" especially in hardcore mode
coz i believe someone out there finished this game on hardcore mode before, which was not an "amateur level" he or she had experience before attempting the hardcore mode challenge

IMHo its always hard for developers of any games to make folowers ai... If they want they can just make it super strong, but that would ruined the game..
To make a great ai, the developer need to balanced it so much, and not to make the ai useless but also not make the ai too strong so the player doesnt need to do anything..
Just imagine if the ai of varic can kill dragon in 15 seconds, or sola can abuse the unlimited mana combo, that would ruined the game..

The AI in Origins isn't much better. They always run into traps when aggro'd. Only difference is that you have more control over them and sure, you can make your party stand still but there's still gonna be the occassional trap that gets ya.

yep......dragon fights should be hard because dragons are tough enemies.....not because your party keeps walking into the still burning dragon fire

No idea why some still like this game. Worse AI, mmo-style side quests, terrible random loot system and gear progression, healer support role exchanged for infinite barrier regeneration spam, 90% of combat is a boring mindless grind, no meaningful interaction between npcs or companions, crafting weapons and armor is painfully tedious and annoying, armor design is the worst i've seen imo, farming meaningless resources to progress the story is the absolute worst and the theme of how the story plays out is way too cheerful. Where did the rapist humans go? Where did the bloodthirsty darkspawn go? Where did the hyper sexualized succubus go? Why is there no blood magic or Berserker or Duelist specialization? Why is the archdemon reduced to a background cosmetic and later called red lyrium dragon and a copy pasted fight of previous dragons? And why would they hide the real ending behind a dlc. This game sucks and i can't get it in my head how people are saying this game is anywhere close to decent or even better than da2. All im saying is, either people start being real and tell bioware how horrible bad inquisition was or dreadwolf is doomed.

My very first dislike for your video)) You can make so many AI solo builds in DAI without DAO AI setup) Sure, it's good to adjust every AI step, but....why do you need it? You can just select abilities in the inquisition and get the same results) Also, how many people really bothered with the AI setup in DAO?)
