Best 2WD trail rig ever.
so good, like music
I put a sport muffler on mine, and when i'm at around 60Km/h an 3000rpm it starts to make a sound where it sounds like I'm dragging tin cans along behind me?
That this is awesome!
I did something similar to my 2005 T6 XC90 (yes the transmission is still doing doing well with 159k miles on it). I put a cat-back on it. Performance mufflers, I did end up putting resonators on it because the cold start was this absurdly loud droning hum. I gotta' say though I like the sound for what it is. I also did a partial cold air intake and you can really hear the turbos with that!
And I actually really like the lift on your friend's XC90! I've been thinking of lifting mine even if it's just 2 inches. I don't wanna go overkill with it. How does his ride? Does it ride rougher or anything?
The next modifications I'm thinking of doing is 1. coil packs 2. get a custom made racing manifold 3. complete the cold air intake by getting bigger intake pipes 4. bigger cams. I don't know if they even sell performance camshafts for this engine but I'm gonna find out! The rest I know I can do. And no I can't tune the T6 model. Volvo locks it. My friends dad works for Volvo and I was asking If I could tune it and he said only the 2.5Ts and V8s can be tuned.
Update: the car now has 163k miles on it and transmission is still running strong. But most importantly there is a back door that I can use the tune my T6!
I have a 2006 xc90 2.5t does a cold air/ downpipe make the turbo sound better (louder)
@@lincoln8322 yes it does! Even just doing the air-box mode significantly makes the turbo louder! You can hear it spool up, and hear the blowoff solenoid! I
100% recommend!
@@lincoln8322 same bro i put a straight through muffler on it and a pod filter and it sounds wicked now
Hi there, fellow XC90 owner here and I love your XC90 build! I want to turn mine into a bit of an overland build, out of curiosity what tires are you running and are those 17 or 18” wheels?
17
Get some trim restorer on those door handles, mine are fucked like that as well 😂. Nice sound btw
I told him the same thing, that stuff works wonders
what rear bumper is this with the quad tip?
Do you have a link for the lift kit that was used?
Did you re-tune the ECU?
Did your buddy put on wheel spacers on the car and if that were the case how wide?
Yes they’re 25mm
How do I get my Volvo past 3k rpm😅
What exhaust system did you use?
Removed the muffler but added a generic resonator from a muffler shop to help with the noise/drone. They supplied the tips as well.
What size tires are them 18
17"
I’m 16, looking at buying one of these. What are things to look out for and best things to do to/with it?
Edit: Thanks for the responses :D
Unfortunately I don’t know much about these, you can DM the owner and he can probably tell you some good info. I do know he’s had minimal issues in his ownership, they are reliable and well made. Hopefully someone else can chime in if they see this.
Stay away from the T6, it uses a junk GM transmission. Stay away from the Yamaha V8 because of head gasket issues. Best bet is to find a clean 2003-2006 2.5L
@@K-popKueen Or a 2.3/2.4 t5.
@@K-popKueenNope. Best bet is 3.2. Most reliable engine. After that its the 4.4 V8 after 2007. 2.5T has a nasty trick of cracking the cylinder block. Also it is paired with the 5 speed Aisin which is not perfect.
What other Performance upgrades can you do to get more Horsepower?
The easiest would be a tune and an intake that allows better airflow
@@AlexGray I Already have an Intake and 3" Exhaust on my 2.5T XC90. Which Tune or Chip should I Get? Or should I just Buy the V8 XC90? And not waste money on my 2.5T XC90.
@@MB1Billion I think a dyno tune from a local shop would be your best bet, here in Atlanta Solo Motorsports does custom tunes. The V8 would certainly sound amazing and have more power but may not be as fun without a turbo. But personally I would go with the V8 just because a V8 in a Volvo is really cool.
@@AlexGray Thank You So Much 👍
I will try to find a Local shop for a Tune.
@@MB1Billion Good luck man, maybe there are some on Google which would be easier and probably cheaper but I am not sure unfortunately
How can I follow this Volvo? Does he have IG?
Yes his IG is in the corner of the video/description but he never posts it
