  • In exponential function, a base is raised to an exponent. Exponential expressions can be simplified using the laws of exponents.
    Laws of Exponents:
    1. When two exponential expressions with the same base are multiplied, copy the base and add the exponent.
    2. When a base raised to an exponent is raised to another exponent, copy the base and multiply the two exponents.
    3. When two exponential expressions with the same base are divided, copy the base and subtract the exponents.
    4. Any non-zero number or expression raised to the exponent zero is equal to 1.
    5. The reciprocal of an exponential expression has the same base but the exponent has a sign opposite the sign of the exponent in the original expression.
    6. When a complex exponential expression is raised to a given exponent, distribute the given exponent by multiplying it to the exponent of each number or variable.
