the fantastic thing about gavin's songs is that they truly honor the spirit of the game - and manage to spoil and NOT spoil it at the same time. You can enjoy the music without knowledge of the game, at a few hours in, and at the end - equally, but in different ways. And the song stands alone. Gavin is truly a genius.
Yah, that's a major part of what makes this song good. Prey (2017) is all about the mind games and you never know how deep the rabbit hole goes... was that coffee mug there before? *starts smashing with wrench*
I wonder when game companies start to catch on and just hire him to do the trailers. Especially some like Bethesda and CDPR, the latter I'm kinda expecting to do so with Cyberpunk actually, considering some of their mates kinda already did so for Seven.
If I was in marketing, I'd consider this "community-based marketing" or something. Like, the sign the base marketing has worked and the game has caught on in the public, and promoting stuff like that is healthy for a game's longevity and public relations. After all, game sales aren't just about an initial rush, people keep buying good games for years after they're released.
“I am a perfect copy of whatever I was; Something I don’t recognize” The way you work so many metaphors into your songs is just amazing! I’ll never know how you do it!
Or uou know you could actually play the game or at lrast watch a playthough of the game and you would see how spot on the wording is to the actual is to plot of the game .But that would be kind of giving it away so spoilers
It's related to the games ending. I don't want to post spoilers here so I suggest either getting the game and experiencing it yourself or looking up the ending on youtube.
"Keeps on screaming for release, yells with my voice, tears with my hands" I like the typhon neuromod symbolism there. The more Morgan installs, the more the typhon inside of him wants to break out. In that case I must be fucked, because I installed all of them.
Hey Sound Bites!!! Enjoyed making this song, was going for a NIN/Depeche Mode feel with the music! :) Don't forget if you want to support me in making music I have a Patreon now: www.patreon.com/miracleofsound Thank you so much to everyone who already joined!! You guys keep me in a job
Really feels like an early Manson song with the beat, very much reminds me of NIN's Closer so I think you nailed that. Good Shit and it really felt like it captured the duality of Prey (especially after you know how it ends)
I've been making odd head-bobbing motions while listening to this and now my coworkers are looking at me weird. Don't care. Song's awesome. Thanks, Gav!
You know what? Thank you for the seizure warning. Flashing doesn't bother me, but I have a friend, and some productions these days don't care to give such a warning, even when they overuse flashes.
You'd think there'd be displays or graphics drivers that would be able to stop videos before an episode of severe flashing, provide a warning, or adapt the display/image to avoid provoking an episode, right? Maybe I just never noticed such a setting or product because I don't have epilepsy, but I'd imagine controlling potentially harmful or unpleasant output would be something popular to address and market towards. "Our screen is tested and proven safe", "use screen for hours longer without vision damage", etc.
Speaking as a chronic migraine sufferer and the son of an epileptic mother, I really appreciate those warnings more and more as time goes on. As far as I'm aware, Gav's always put warnings up on his vids when necessary - he's awesome like that.
Seconded. I'm not epileptic, and I don't know anyone who is; but I am hypersensitive to light, and the sorts of visual effects that can cause seizures tend to cause me horrendous migraines. A heads-up is always appreciated.
miracleofsound Given that you've done a great many songs for Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk is set to be a huge game I trust we can expect a few more songs on Cyberpunk?
Really liking this one, it's amazing how much quality you put into these songs. Just the hidden details and messages complete it all. To date I don't think you've made a single bad song in my mind. Level 8 is going to be awesome, keep up the fantastic work Gav!
Thank you! There are a tonne of little details in this song that are hidden behind the layers of sound. Might take a few listens to hear em all! I hope Level 8 is a good one :)
At this rate, with The Great Unknown, Keepers, Force of Nature, We Are War, and now Replica... I'm sorry, Gav, but there is no "hope" that Level 8 will be good. It is CERTAIN that it will be good.
The song even has a tone that I would expect from the game. I played this in the background while playing and for a moment I thought it was the game's soundtrack.
Prey is one of the few games I played through in a few days in a row. This song really caches the vibe and the story of the game. Thank you Gavin for another wonderful piece of music art.
God, that refrain just worms its way into your head and sticks there. I'm gonna be chanting "I'm not, I'm not myself, I'm not, I'm somebody else" in my sleep tonight (assuming I get any), well done Gav.
I'm always scared to listening to your newest song as I end up thinking you're music will suddenly turn bad. But everytime I'm proven wrong. Keep up the amazing work Gavin.
1) Almost 2 years of listening to this song and I still love it just as much as my first time. 2) I love that I started listening to music on a Warframe Soundtrack, UA-cam wormed its way across the OST to Dream Again and I've just been listening to Gav for the last hour, And I'm just gonna keep enjoying the awesome music.
I've listened to this song hundreds of times, and I'm only playing the game right now. XD now the song keeps playing in my head all the time while playing, my head rendered it the official soundtrack
Welp. This song made me start thinking about Prey, and now I've got it. Playing the game gives me an appreciation for some of the finer notes in the song, things I wouldn't notice had I just listened to it. Another great job Gav.
Actually January or December were made by Morgan in those months while he had some breakdowns when all this cycle of installing and removing neuromods started to change his personality Both by Typhon influence and brain scrambling All it ended in some paranoia and guerilla actions from Morgan side Since his own conciusnes started to be blended with Typhon that was as confused as Morgan in all of this And remember Morgan took more neuromods than anyone else along with very often removals of them (it was a daily basis for him) As well as being the first person to use his experimental Typhon abilities neuromods Before those only gave you some skills and knowledge Morgan made it possible to unlock and use Typhon powers by neuromods and tested them on himself first
My man music Jesus proved he is an artist like no other once again. It's come to the point in my life where I'm more excited for a Gav song than the actual game the song is about.
I've never played this game and I honestly kind of doubt I will at this point, but I really love this song. As someone who experiences disassociation fairly regularly, it really manages to describe something I rarely see described.
God this song is awesome. Prey is awesome. Haven't played it, but from reading about the story and watching it on YT, it's an awesome storyline wrapped in good gameplay. Love how this song is about the Neuromods affecting one's personality while at the same time it can also be interpreted as a reference to the ending when you find out the truth.
I ended up getting stuck in an area and i couldnt figure out how to make progress and my ammo and that was beginning to dwindle so ended up giving up on the game, sad to say really
The inflection in the part of the song saying "I'm not myself, I'm not somebody else" is odd to say the least, the first part sounds like it's be a statement, the second piece sounds as if they're questioning them self. Now, I've not played Prey yet so I can only conclude that something is happening to the player character to make them question who or what they really are.
For years this was one of my favourite songs, I was aware of the game only because of the song. Last month I bought Prey because of a sale, and I'm not sure if I love it, but I was surely and throughoutly impressed by it.
Musical God Gavin delivers again. I swear, I just want to buy every game he does a song on. All because of how he manages to perfectly distill a game and pour the elements into a wonderful song. Really loved all the dark synths and sound effects and stuff to build up to the chorus. And oh my, the chorus. Can I just say how much I love that chord progression? It's amazing and I'm kinda head over heels. Honestly, Gav could probably do a song on Snake or Tetris and it'd be an epic work of art. Another stunning gift from our favourite musician!
Sometimes you need a few repeats to really get into a song. This has been going on repeat for an hour strong now and is not disappointing at all. Awesome work as always, Gav!
Wonderful, both the music and the lyrics, I believe you really captured and expanded Prey's spirit. I love how this title stimulates people, the way it appeals to players' intelligence, intuition, creativity and empathy. And I love seeing when people connect and create something new, as you did. So Let's keep inspiration flowing, explore together this new territory. Keep it up! P.s.: yesterday I wrote this lyrics, at the moment I'm working on the music: There is something in my mind In the preverbal Level Since it's not cognitive At least yet I cannot understand it And it scares me Others sense it too Somehow I believe through the sense of scent And they become Hostile This dark Consciusness wants to survive Like all of us And in the attempt to do so Over millenia Has developed Infinite powers And I am scared of them too Afraid of insanity And of hurting others But I trust it I trust the predator Because i feel we can connect Because we share So much I feel It wants to leave the darkness And enter the cognitive world I feel It has tried to communicate For so long And with so much effort Through mind and technology it did And like me he feels He's part of a single consciousness That split itself in two To evolve And he wants to survive Like all of us And like us His nervous system is expanding And forces him to develop What he's lacking Empathy So i chose to be a bridge And became something else Then the predator and the prey Born The fifth of may March 2035 today But also The Eighth My name is M.Yu And i am doing what i love most Experimenting This time Let's try to build a bridge Through these consciousnesses No more predators and preys Destination unknown And yet we sail And set home to The deep deep dark of the skies Hunab ku Which lives inside Of us and we see As a void Constantly Staring Wheter we like it Or not
Again I find myself astonished for your talents Mister Dunne. My friend has been recommending this game to me and you just sealed my choice to get it with this song. Let me tell you, my whole family loves your songs. My father likes them and he's a musician himself. My mother likes them, my wife likes them, hell, even my 10 month old daughter loves them. (no joke) Keep on doing what you do and we all love it :D
Honestly if I would have listened to this song and didn't know that it is a song about Prey then I would probably think that it is a song about Struggling to figure out who you even are as a Person.
No MoS Titanfall 2 song was why that game failed so bad. He posts a song, suddenly it's into the bestsellers, just wait. I'm only kidding a little bit, I have bought games in the past based on Gavin's songs on them.
You do such a great job with the music and videos. I have purchased games because of your videos with the hope that they will release another game in the series, thus making more music and video opportunities.
Great job, I'm really digging the Ditto-like vibe you gave it along with the interesting use of repeated visuals that ties in well with the game's story and themeing.
Knocked another one out of the park, you're music gives me so much focus and determination, perfect for programming. I need to buy me some more tracks, I kind of owe you a lot with how much I have your music on loop.
I love the thing you do with your voice when you sing "the Vessels aground", in general the atmosphere in this song is just so tight and spot on. Somehow i get a Nine inch Nails vibe from the song tho, thats a good thing to me aswell. Keep it up
I introduced my friend to this song, and now she's listened to it so many times it's ended up as a frequently visited website. This specific page. I regret nothing.
This one's got a fantastic beat and feel to it. You always do well with any genre you choose to tackle, but you definitely have a gift for techno and digital themed music. Great stuff :D
WAIT! Is it just me or... That solo after the "Tears with my hands!" sequence sounds incredibly like Clockwork's solo?! That would be such a nice reference since both Prey and Dishonored were developed by the same team! Also, this is my first time commenting in one of your vids, though I tend to lurk around and like your vids (because I'm really shy ;_;), I really wanted to tell you, wholeheartedly, that I love your songs and Replica has really standed out for me and sparked (even more) my curiosity over Prey and its universe. A real masterpiece, thank you so much for putting your time and effort over music and bringing such awesomeness everywhere. Keep up the awesome. Also, cheers from Brazil! (Also, pardon me if there's any english flaws here, I'm really nervous while writing this LMAO)
Another great song Gav! Every time I listen to a song of yours about a game that I haven't played, I want to play it. Your songs are truly a work of art. Keep up the great work as always.
150 thousand people and 54 dislike, this must be saying something about gavs work, and I'm not surprised much. his work is overwhelming and each song seems to be better than the last, then you listen to that song and each song you listen to, in each order, is seeming better than the last you listened to. A new and great song has been released so this comment may not be seen by many, but it helps all to know that people care.
Now I know why you had troubles with it but damn that was so worth it! I just love the song! And again you got the hook to stick in my ears and and and, it's just amazing! Thanks Gav!
Listening for... 10th time, I think. Still can`t get enough of that guitar in the end. It`s godlike, but so short... I think i`m getting addicted to this song.
gav please keep to putting out songs you like you seem to have been having a massive jump in quality because of it ( your older songs are still amazing.)
jesus christ gavin this is fucking awesome. I like almost everything you make, but this is top tier stuff. a small patreon recommendation: add more levels! little bonus tidbits! people love to support their creators
I wish there would be more games in this franchise because I dig this song so much. On the other hand, the year's almost over, and we'll finally get Lvl8.
the fantastic thing about gavin's songs is that they truly honor the spirit of the game - and manage to spoil and NOT spoil it at the same time. You can enjoy the music without knowledge of the game, at a few hours in, and at the end - equally, but in different ways. And the song stands alone. Gavin is truly a genius.
Yeah, after playing the game and then listening to this, it´s really, really good. Amazing lyrics, great music. Love it!
Yah, that's a major part of what makes this song good. Prey (2017) is all about the mind games and you never know how deep the rabbit hole goes... was that coffee mug there before? *starts smashing with wrench*
I find myself thousand times more hyped for game when Gavin makes song 'bout it than any trailer could he ever hoped to make me.
I wonder when game companies start to catch on and just hire him to do the trailers. Especially some like Bethesda and CDPR, the latter I'm kinda expecting to do so with Cyberpunk actually, considering some of their mates kinda already did so for Seven.
I heard he did it once and hated it cause it felt force so he doesn't want to do it again and only make songs he feels inspired too
Right? I bought Deus Ex Mankind Divided because his music video got me so pumped towards it.
Would be awesome but most publisher won't pay someone for a song that he did anyway ;) maybe give him free games
“I am a perfect copy of whatever I was; Something I don’t recognize”
The way you work so many metaphors into your songs is just amazing! I’ll never know how you do it!
Or uou know you could actually play the game or at lrast watch a playthough of the game and you would see how spot on the wording is to the actual is to plot of the game .But that would be kind of giving it away so spoilers
Chris-m
I mean, it can be both.
A triple meaning in a single line, brilliant!
"I am a perfect copy of whatever I was."
Clever ;)
didnt get it this morning. get it now. really clever
Nobody Never still don't get it may explain? he is a copy of something bit he doesn't know of what? what is the hidden meaning?
It's related to the games ending. I don't want to post spoilers here so I suggest either getting the game and experiencing it yourself or looking up the ending on youtube.
i was expecting it would refer to the old prey
catnip? no one ever suspects catnip
It just hit me.
Prey is the world's deadliest game of prop hunt.
Lol
Duuuddee
Would it be possible to actually make a Prop Hunt game out of this?
sleepy6x yes there’s a game mode for it now
I have become the bucket
"Keeps on screaming for release, yells with my voice, tears with my hands" I like the typhon neuromod symbolism there. The more Morgan installs, the more the typhon inside of him wants to break out. In that case I must be fucked, because I installed all of them.
Did you play it till the end?

Star Wars song next?
miracleofsound Damn that's a cool sounding song
Called it! Knew you'd do a song about this! How do you like the game itself? I'm feeling GOTY contender.
Gavin you're the best! hello from Moscow
I've been making odd head-bobbing motions while listening to this and now my coworkers are looking at me weird. Don't care. Song's awesome. Thanks, Gav!
You've gotta pay the bills somehow
Can't complain. Not what I plan to do the rest of my life, but it's something temporary.
This man needs more recognition, he's too good to be under 1m at this point
You know what? Thank you for the seizure warning. Flashing doesn't bother me, but I have a friend, and some productions these days don't care to give such a warning, even when they overuse flashes.

This was cool, you should do something for Cyberpunk in this style!
I would love to!!!!
miracleofsound Given that you've done a great many songs for Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk is set to be a huge game I trust we can expect a few more songs on Cyberpunk?
What I and I think A LOT of people would very much enjoy is you two collabing!
Well, he already made 1 right when the very game was revealed, so.
+THE ROTRUY They did, in Dan's The Last Guardian rap.
I'm a simple man.
I see a Miracle of Sound upload?
I listen. I press like.
Joey Fredrickson
I prefer this way :
I press like. I listen ;)
Wen Granne and then you wish you could like it again
Really liking this one, it's amazing how much quality you put into these songs. Just the hidden details and messages complete it all. To date I don't think you've made a single bad song in my mind.

I just wanna press "like" for this coolest song again and again.
Thank you very much!
The song even has a tone that I would expect from the game. I played this in the background while playing and for a moment I thought it was the game's soundtrack.
That what i call music, man, my whole body AND soul vibe with this
This game has so many layers and this song captures that so well!
"I'm not, I'm not myself, I'm not somebody else"
This is amazing!!!!!
This song nails the transhuman-vibe of this game perfectly, in my opinion. I truly believe that Prey will be looked back on as a modern classic!
Prey is one of the few games I played through in a few days in a row. This song really caches the vibe and the story of the game. Thank you Gavin for another wonderful piece of music art.
You know, if Prey (2017) had a VERY DIFFERENT GAME NAME, it'd be considered one of the most clever and creative games out there.
Prey is just such a goddamn good game, I can't even...
This is already one of my favourite songs of the the year without a doubt.
"They want to sing inside of us...like a disease..."
"What is it you hear, behind the glass?"
Another great song, man. This one reminds me a lot of your Soma song, the themes are so similar. Keep up the fantastic work!
One of my favs and helped me through some rough times! Thanks Gav!!!
Those dislikes are exposed mimics
And now they gone...

Not only is this another fantastic song, but DAMN that scream at 2:53! Probably my favorite from you so far, Gav!
3 years later: *still waiting for a sequel to be announced*
i'm still picking apart the lore of the original to prove that January was working with the Typhon.
Actually January or December were made by Morgan in those months while he had some breakdowns when all this cycle of installing and removing neuromods started to change his personality
Both by Typhon influence and brain scrambling
All it ended in some paranoia and guerilla actions from Morgan side
Since his own conciusnes started to be blended with Typhon that was as confused as Morgan in all of this
And remember
Morgan took more neuromods than anyone else along with very often removals of them (it was a daily basis for him)
As well as being the first person to use his experimental Typhon abilities neuromods
Before those only gave you some skills and knowledge
Morgan made it possible to unlock and use Typhon powers by neuromods and tested them on himself first
Arkane Austin is no more. No more sequels, friend. 😔
I am exceedingly grateful for this not having many spoilers! This is a game I really dig so far.
There's several lets plays on youtube that are worth watching to get a gist of the story and style.
I forgot how good this song is. I'm glad this video is still up, because it is no longer on YT Music.
Ayyy it's demonite the borderlands gamer!
I ended up getting stuck in an area and i couldnt figure out how to make progress and my ammo and that was beginning to dwindle so ended up giving up on the game, sad to say really
Do you have some alien DNA, Gavin? Cause this song is out of this world ;)
Haha..... maybe?
Alright, just because he's Irish...
Hm... maybe the mimic that took Gavin's form created this one for real?
I called it.
miracleofsound maybe? Or yes i do have alien dna
I keep (on) returning to this. One of your best!
A mimic cannot replace Gav. You know why? No entity below the king of divines can be a replica of such perfection.
No. Because mimics didnt figure out how to copy humans. Or they are simply not big enough
This should be in Prey credits,
mind games wasnt as impactful
The inflection in the part of the song saying "I'm not myself, I'm not somebody else" is odd to say the least, the first part sounds like it's be a statement, the second piece sounds as if they're questioning them self. This song is like a drug, hear it once you want more of it right away.
WolfkinNorthclaw it's like Adam, I should probably get Incinerate!
o.O
Robert Donahue I'm gonna go with the classic Electro Bolt and pipe wrench.
thats every song he makes
I’m not I’m not my self,I’m not somebody else!
Over ten years later and people still love this song. Similar to skyrim itself. Good job gavin.
How is it that one man can make so many good songs that also act as better advertisements for the games I would probably like? Brilliant, as always XD
I genuinely had Goosebumps listening to this; keep it up man
Musical God Gavin delivers again. I swear, I just want to buy every game he does a song on. All because of how he manages to perfectly distill a game and pour the elements into a wonderful song.

Easily one of the most memorable games of this decade. And you have made an amazing song in accompaniment to it.
Gav, do the world a favor. Don't ever stop making music.
Wonderful, both the music and the lyrics, I believe you really captured and expanded Prey's spirit. P.s.: yesterday I wrote this lyrics, at the moment I'm working on the music:
There is something in my mind
In the preverbal
Level
Since it's not cognitive
At least yet
I cannot understand it
And it scares me
Others sense it too
Somehow
I believe through the sense of scent
And they become
Hostile
This dark
Consciusness wants to survive
Like all of us
And in the attempt to do so
Over millenia
Has developed
Infinite powers
And I am scared of them too
Afraid of insanity
And of hurting others
But I trust it
I trust the predator
Because i feel we can connect
Because we share
So much
I feel
It wants to leave the darkness
And enter the cognitive world
I feel
It has tried to communicate
For so long
And with so much effort
Through mind and technology it did
And like me he feels
He's part of a single consciousness
That split itself in two
To evolve
And he wants to survive
Like all of us
And like us
His nervous system is expanding
And forces him to develop
What he's lacking
Empathy
So i chose to be a bridge
And became something else
Then the predator and the prey
Born
The fifth of may
March 2035 today
But also
The Eighth
My name is
M.Yu
And i am doing what i love most
Experimenting
This time
Let's try to build a bridge
Through these consciousnesses
No more predators and preys
Destination unknown
And yet we sail
And set home to
The deep deep dark of the skies
Hunab ku
Which lives inside
Of us and we see
As a void
Constantly
Staring
Wheter we like it
Or not
The rythm. The text. The miraculous voice! It's all you, Gav!
This game is the perfect mix between Dead space and Bioshock ! I love it so much !!!
It is an amazing game... It's easy to see why it had such good reviews when it came out.

Honestly if I would have listened to this song and didn't know that it is a song about Prey then I would probably think that it is a song about Struggling to figure out who you even are as a Person.
I knew this song would be amazing and even then it completely exceeded my expectations. You seriously never fail to amaze us, Gav.
Perfect fit for some gaming in the night!
Still salty a bit about no Titanfall 2 though. :P
Sapphirus agreed
Gav, get it done!
No MoS Titanfall 2 song was why that game failed so bad. He posts a song, suddenly it's into the bestsellers, just wait.
I'm only kidding a little bit, I have bought games in the past based on Gavin's songs on them.
Sacremas just bought dark souls 3 because of the song
Uuuuugh, every time you write one of these high energy, darker toned songs my ears just melt. Gorgeous work, dude
Oh my god; the lyrics combined with the visuals are off the damn chain for this one!
Wow this reminds me immensely of all the songs my dad used to show me and try to get me into, gives me a refined tank girl feel. It’s just so good
This is actually one of my favourite songs ever.
Incredibly catchy , great work as always Gavin !
I like how the music spells the lyrics in this song. And Prey was a fantastic game, GOTY 2017 so far for me.
You do such a great job with the music and videos. I have purchased games because of your videos with the hope that they will release another game in the series, thus making more music and video opportunities.
Your songs always seem to come out when I need them most Gav.Thanks for another great piece. :)
You have an uncanny ability to make me want to play whatever game you make a song about.
Шикарная музыка,голос,видеоряд.Творения всегда радуют)Спасибо вам за труды)
Keep it up
👍😋!
What I and I think A LOT of people would very much enjoy is you two collabing!
How much % is possibility of your two (u and ninja) "team work"?
I introduced my friend to this song, and now she's listened to it so many times it's ended up as a frequently visited website. This specific page. I regret nothing.
This one's got a fantastic beat and feel to it. You always do well with any genre you choose to tackle, but you definitely have a gift for techno and digital themed music. Great stuff :D
I grew up on Nine Inch nails & Depeche Mode, it's a big part of my DNA :)
I love the screaming part in the middle there. It reminds me strongly of my beloved heavy metal. Another great one, Gavin!
only channel I have notifications switched on for. Never let's me down. Another amazing work, Gavin. Catchy as all hell (to pay)
It's always a good day when you wake up to a new miracle of sound.
Absolutely awe-struck right now. You nailed it.
Damn, I think this is one of my favourites so far. Great job, Gav
This is very NIN song 😍
Now I know why you had troubles with it but damn that was so worth it! I just love the song! And again you got the hook to stick in my ears and and and, it's just amazing! Thanks Gav!
A wonderful song, Gav. So glad you decided to make a Prey themed one!
Lost count how many times I watch and listen to this.
One of the best songs out there.
this oozes NIN and it's beautiful. Fantastic work as always Gav.
And early Oomph!
I love it!
Listening for... 10th time, I think. Still can`t get enough of that guitar in the end. It`s godlike, but so short... I think i`m getting addicted to this song.
Picked this game up a couple of days ago and am really enjoying it so far.
And I think this song really fits. Great job as usual, Gav.
These lyrics are brilliant, especially in the context of the ending!
gav please keep to putting out songs you like you seem to have been having a massive jump in quality because of it ( your older songs are still amazing.)
This may very well be my favorite song you've made this year. Incredible as always :D
And another awesome song you made. There's really no stopping you Gavin, huh? You just keep on making awesome stuff. Absolutely great work.
I haven't even listened yet, and I know it's good.
jesus christ gavin this is fucking awesome.
