In todays video I dig further into my 600k mile Toyota Tacoma project. The fuel pump had some major issues, and was not letting the truck run properly. With a combination of bad advice, and not doing proper research lead to me making a lot more work for myself than required. As always we got the job done!

Your odometer is a testament to Tacomas.. only having to replace the fuel pump/filter is unreal.. love those trucks.
I think My dad’s 08 Tacoma fuel pump just went out.. 444k original, thanks for the vid bro.
Excellent video! Keep going!💪🏾💪🏾🔧🛠
Thanks so much! I appreciate all the support!!
578k.. damn
Thanks for the vid. I was wondering if two could pull the bed. I need to remove mine, to fix the rust. Again great thanks.
Glad I could help, two can definitely pull the bed!
Thank you for saving me a lot of work
Happy to help
Is your gas tank held up by the straps on the cross member? I’m trying to find a new rear cross member because mine rusted out. Just wondering if I can work around buying a cross member because they are all on back order.
The fact that your bed bolts could be removed by a small electric impact. I'm going to have to use a breaker bar to get mine out lol.
Small is a relieve term, the Milwaukee impacts hit extremely hard and have impressive stats, the 3/8 impact I was using is rated to 250 lb/ft of torque and I’ve used it to pull dually diesel lugs off, and it still struggled with a couple of the bed bolts!
It’s an extremely useful piece of equipment to own if you work on cars often!!
Up-date, after scanning for codes, found a Evap leak, what would you suggest. Hope to hear from you. Thanks and God Bless
BRO!!! Does that ODO read 578,126???!!! WOW! My '06 is at 215k.
I love that your bed bolts are accessible from inside the bed! Did you set it up that way, or is that standard on some models? Smart using the spare tire to use as a wedge. I'm about to do this for the first time on my 89 2x4 3L. Loses power anytime it is low on gas. Hoping it's just holes in the fuel pump intake. Sat for years, probably had gas in it. Guessing the tubes look like Swiss cheese and the sock is bust.
Congrats that you solved your issue!
The bed Botha on the newer tacomas are accessible from up top from the factory! It’s a nice feature!
As far as the tire, necessity is the mother of innovation, when you’re working along you figure some things out! I appreciate the feedback!
Great video
Thanks so much! I appreciate the feedback! Trying hard!
any chance you could provide the link to the fuel pump you bought???
I can see about finding it and posting in in the description
Its a pity that Toyota didn't put a plate in the bed were you cold access the fuel pump my fuel pump in my 1997 Hilux is under the bonnet easy to replace
its even worse that pulling the bed didn't even help me!
@@redlineranch. l can see its difficult any thing to to with the fuel filter or the pump it is easy l have an aluminum tray on my Hilux very common in Australia infact l was a courier and have owned three utes with a a drop side aluminum tray because thats how you earned most if your money that also includes my Hilux
Thank you for messing up for me seriously this video is a blessing
glad I could help! wish I would have known before pulling the bed!
Great video but didn’t show how you disconnected the fuel filler neck abs all the wiring involved
Keep going
Working on some content now!
How did you disconnect the gas funnel from the bed?. The part where you put the gas in.
It just slides in/out
2011 Tacoma. I was fueling and added some Lucas fuel additive. What I didn't notice is a little white disc that was on the open end of the bottle when I took the lid off. Yep, it fell into my fuel tank when I began to pour it in.. I'm worried it's going to damage the fuel pump?! Anybody...any advice?
The screen on the pickup should prevent that from causing any issues, I wouldn’t stress about it
@@redlineranch. thanks for the reply. Good scoup
2011 Tacoma, need to replace pump, do you recommend removing bed. Also do you have model number for pump. Thanks
Don’t remove your bed! The sending unit in the tank is under the cab!
I don’t have a part number, I used a parts store pump off the shelf
@@redlineranch. hey wait a second, are you telling me I can replace the fuel sending unit without dropping the tank? I need to change the fuel sending unit and I was going to drop the tank. Please advise.
@@donttrip775 no! You NEED to drop the tank, unfortunately I thought you could change it without dropping the tank but it didn’t work
@@redlineranch. according to what I’m seeing, Regarding The access cab model, you can remove the bed which is easier
@@donttrip775 that might be why people thought I could with the 4door
why didnt you take pump out from the top ?why did you take the bed off??
I couldn't access the pump from above without dropping the tank, I was told by many people I could get it out by removing the bed, unfortunately that wasn't true.
@@redlineranch. I’m kind of surprised you didn’t just drop the tank.
@@redlineranch.I’m about to do this on my Tacoma. I have an access cab so the cab itself doesn’t hang over the pump. It’s depending on the cab size for wether you can just pull the bed or have to drop the tank.
Dropped my tank and replaced pump..all took about 2 hours. Don't see why you would go through all the trouble of taking the bed off 🤔
@@ricktucker2035 bed off took like 45 mins and zero fuel spilled. Easy access from the top with an access cab. 6 bolts for the bed, 2 for the filler hose, 4 for tail lights and that’s it
578k miles????? Damn!
Its crazy, isn’t it!
