- SuperDeluxeEdition.com Editor Paul Sinclair takes a look at the second phase of Kate Bush CD and vinyl box sets which contain 2018 remasters of her later studio albums and rarities.
Cut to 2019: Kate has released The Other Sides separately. Thank goodness!
I really like the packaging of the first box set. The glossy digipak sleeves are tasty, nice colours even has a few extra pictures (it's nice to see the "Sat On Your Lap" pic on the inner sleeve of the Dreaming) so it's far from "dull". This new box set on the other hand looks a bit cheap without any concept of how should it look like. I won't spend money on it
I want the Never For Ever box set like this. LOVE that al my artwork.
The art wowww
I bought the first cd box set, and a double bootleg of non album tracks to complete the set.
So the second box set is not needed, plus my bootleg has a lot of the missing tracks from the official second cd box set, important tracks that are amazing, including the On Stage 12".
The first box represents the Kate Bush I grew up with, the second box doesn't do it for me, great stuff, just not me, and with the amazing job the bootleggers have done, I now have my dream Kate Bush cd collection completed.
Was really excited when this was first announced but it really has been a missed opportunity. Would have been better with the earlier albums remastered (Box 1) along with a proper box set of rarities with dvd of videos etc. I'm hoping she at least brings out the Other Side CD on its own so that I can at least buy the first box set of the earlier albums.
You should show everything when doing unboxing videos. You don't really show the booklets for the cds, which is disappointing. I own none of the Kate Bush albums, so these boxes are great for me.
I’m here for the Elton John shade. LOL
I was quite disappointed when I purchased the first CD boxset. No notes, writings or technical data provided in the writing and recording of each record…
It would’ve been nice to have a set-specific design for all the albums.
I do love they have been remastered, but the presentation was less than inspiring.
I refuse to listen to The Directors Cut because this music already exists in my heart and does not require a revision in my eyes.
Great review 👌
The bird mask image is originally from a National Geographic article.
Im not gonna buy the second CD set unless it becomes dirt cheap. As you say it feels like a rip off and encourages illegal downloads of the B-sides discs in my view. As you also say these feel unnecessary being so recently released. It’s almost like they have reboxed old stock. Missed opportunity really.
You're better of buying the vinyl box with just the rarities. Kate is being really stingy. I won't be buying the remasters in general.
It's shocking how half-baked this entire set was. I feel really sorry for the CD buyers. I remember how This Woman's Work was cobbled together like Paul mentioned as well. Fuck, just once put out a decent set, she owes it to her many loyal fans after all these years. Rubbish.
@@seekah1 I'm not really a fan of the idea of artists "owing" things to fans, but I do think that if you're going to put out what's being played up as a definitive retrospective anthology, you ought to put in more effort than what's been demonstrated here. As mentioned in the previous video, the David Bowie box sets by Parlophone are a good template for such a thing (mastering error on ""Heroes"" aside).
@@VinchVolt Well I know but this really would be a nice thing to give back after such a long time. I'm making the exception here and probably a few others.
All videos should be included on a two or three DVD set.bad bad Kate.you are going to burn in hell with those battered red shoes you stole.
I’d pay the £79 just for the.... Other sides alone love it
yes!!
"Beautiful record even if it does have Elton John on it." lmao
Oh it's an awful song, just like that entire album, truly her worst.
I like beans on toast
Thank you Paul, Running Up That Hill (Instrumental) Hounds Of Love (US Mix) and Dreamtime would have been a nice treat.who needs Before The Dawn on the CD box set? what a wasted chance.
Has all the fat affected her brain?
I am a KB fan since I was 7 years old.now where is my KB Voodoo doll?
How can you remaster the Before The Dawn what a rip off ..
Big big disapointment the cover art i dont like why not release the rest of the b-sides and 12 inch mixes stupid last chance i like Kate but i will not buy the boxes.
It was a dirty Christmas cash grab. Dear Bertie must have wanted something really expensive this year. I used to be an insane collector of anything Kate: now I just don't even listen to her overhyped endlessly repackaged garbage anymore.
So...what's the point of your smart comment?:)
Millie Tanner Millie That’s a bit harsh
I'm not a big fan of her "come back" albums. To be honest I only listen to her first five records so the only thing I'm interested in this box set is the Other Side stuff. Hope she'll release it separately and it would be nice to check a Live at Hammersmith Odeon remaster (CD + DVD).
