    Your bikes always look so perfectly clean! It may sound odd, but I wish you'd do a video of the steps you take to clean them, the wash products you use, and what implements/materials you use to do all the detail cleaning. Love your videos and always appreciate your content! Safe travels!

      There’s an American on UA-cam, who lives in Thailand 🇹🇭, that has tons of videos of his heavily modified Trail 125. I think his channel is called Lazy Dog Productions. It’s got a big bore 142cc kit in it.

    like i said i have been looking for one of these for months. but out of all the videos i have seen they come with a 14x39 tooth sprockets and 13 seems to be to low and 14 seems to be a little to high.and it seems a 13x38 is in between the 13 and 14 x39 and seems to be working out pretty good. but people seem to be scared to change the rear sprocket for some reason. but i have every part you put on your bike saved in my favorites to order as soon as i find a trail 125

    Had another question for you. It's about possibly mounting a gopro to the bike handlebards. I don't particularly want to found a go pro to my helmet but I wanted to vlog my next ride. If I got a handlebar mount or say, that bar that connects the two handles and then mount to there, would this work? I mean would it give a good view if positioned properly of must the camera go on helmet to captures properly. Let me know thoughts on that based on experience your your mods on the 125. Thanks again QM!

      Howdy, Johnny! I would recommend using a RAM ball mount under one of the mirror perches or on the center handlebar clamp bolts. Here are two options that I use on several of my bikes (including the CT125):
      - RAM-B-272U angled ball base: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012TRIY4
      - RAM-B-367U handlebar clamp base: amzn.to/3NNcgU1
      You would need a couple of additional pieces to complete this mounting solution. The first is a mount or cage for your action camera. Ulanzi has great cages for GoPro and other action cameras, so you might consider those options. If you're using a GoPro camera, then the included skeleton frame (GoPro Hero 7 or prior) or the built-in mounting fingers (Hero 8+) give you the mounting points you'll need.
      The additional pieces for the RAM mount puzzle are the following:
      - RAP-B-202U-GOP1 universal action camera ball mount: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G970GX4
      - RAM-B-201U double socket arm: amzn.to/3pdhoGN (get short, medium, or long depending on your needs)
      That mounting solution is extremely flexible and allows you to effortlessly swap and mount a GPS or phone in the same location. Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll be glad to help! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Great mods. I too want a new dash with gear indicator. Tell me your experience with the gear indicator so far, is it accurate and consistent at showing? Thanks man!

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  Рік тому +1

      The Opmid gauge is MUCH more visible and useful than the original Honda gauge. I couldn't see the OEM gauge during daylight hours unless the sun and surrounding reflections were just right. The Opmid gauge is visible in any lighting conditions.
      The Opmid's gauge indicator works, but it's not always correct. The CT125's wiring harness and transmission don't include a gear position sensor, so the Opmid guesses the gear based on engine RPM and wheel speed. If you shift early into a higher gear, then it sometimes misses until the engine RPM's catch up to where the math makes sense.
      The temperature gauge and shift warning lights are a nuisance, so I need to disable those or raise the warning points to a range that's useful. The engine temp warning starts flashing around 85°C, so that's pretty much ALL THE TIME!
      The shift warning lights are two green arrows that start flashing around 7500 RPM, so they're always blinking when I'm cruising around 48 MPH or higher. Because those arrows are green, I'm always catching them in my peripheral vision and thinking that I left my signal on.
      Those settings are tunable in the gauge, so it shouldn't be a problem to change those limits... I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Overall, I highly recommend the Opmid gauge as an upgrade for the CT125 and Monkey! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      @@QuasiMotard Thank you so much for the detailed reply. Ok love what I hear about the visibility and as for gear indicator well, close enough . I just don't like how it is blind right now (so thoughtless of Honda really). It's a bit pricey I do wish there was a more economical option but if I can't find one before my Trail 125 comes in I'll end up going with this one.

      @@QuasiMotard Thanks again for the honest review of it. I see you are much like me, pointing out things that will annoy like those indicator lights and the levels they are set. Yes that would irritate, especially if not present on OEM dash and paying to swap out. As long as I can modify those out without too much pain then the crisp display looks worth it.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 роки тому +1

      That is the temperature warning light that begins flashing near 100°C. I haven't gotten into my gauge settings to disable or change the values so it doesn't flash. The other annoying idiot lights that need to be disabled are the shift indicator lights that flash green at higher RPM's... they always make me think that I've accidentaly left my signal on.
      I'll try to post a quick video with the updated settings for disabling/adjusting those lights and also adjusting the rear wheel diameter to get the speedometer closer to true (GPS) speed. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

  • @tomonabudget
    @tomonabudget 2 роки тому +2

    Interesting that it's got that delay in the gear indicator.
    Looking at parts diagrams of the CT125, it's got the same mechanism to determine the gear position as Honda Waves have in South East Asia.
    Those have a basic electrical path going all the way to the dashboard to illuminate bulbs for individual gears.
    That dash does look flashy though. Something I'd consider if I ever buy the CT125. It's generally weird featureless the gauges are on these premium bikes, especially since some of their cheaper offerings have more featured gauges.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure why Honda didn't include the gear position indicator in the wiring harness. If the switch gear exists in the transmission, then it might be possible to extend it... not sure if all of the required bits are actually in the transmision or not.
      The OPMiD gauge derives the gear position from the wheel speed vs engine RPM, so it's just an approximation. It's not uncommon for the gear indicator to flutter between 1-2 or 2-3 during low-RPM operation or while rounding corners... it doesn't guess the speed/RPM ratio correctly. However, anything better than nothing. The tachometer and engine temp are nice features, but the big improvement is the gauge visibility... the OEM gauge was nearly impossible to read in daylight. 😉👍 --QM

    sorry for the newb question but at the 6:00 mark are you coming to a stop while in 3rd gear? Just trying to figure out when im supposed to downshift...and I also feel no matter how slow I ease of the throttle that engine breaking just kicks in kinda hard n abruptly ...

    • @JohnnyLREACTS
      @JohnnyLREACTS Рік тому +2

      Ya honestly, if coming to a full stop red, just come to a stop and gear down when stopped to 1. There is a trick to a smoother downshift but it's finicky. If coming to major slowdown but maybe not full complete stop, then you need to get going again, may as well just downshift from 3rd to 2nd and leave it there. It's not a bad as 2nd to 1st which is jarring and pulling from almost stopped in 2nd gear isn't that bad really it's ok on this bike.

      @AnotherBangaTV Рік тому

    Let me know how you “fix” the green shift lights - I too find them most distracting (they should be inhibited when 4th gear is displayed imho) Also would like to know what wheel diameter setting fixes that gps/bike speed mis-match
    I set the red warning to 170 as I’m told it is a quasi cylinder head temperature rather than a true oil temp reading
    Rather than trying to get my elderly leg over a centre rack and bag I found a pre owned camcorder bag on eBay for about $12 and it hangs right in front of me using a couple of carabiner hooks from the mirror mounts - works well for tools, iPad, wet weather gear etc etc
    Yes, the bike’s power limitations can be an issue but I am learning to route via quieter and more scenic roads … it helps to be retired!

    • @QuasiMotard

      Howdy, and thanks for the feedback! The Zeta windscreen definitely helps to break up the airflow around my torso, and it seems to have increased my top speed just a little bit from the reduced drag. The terminus of the windscreen is too low to really deflect much air over or around my head, so my shoulders and helmet are in the clear.
      You can see that perspective a bit better during my ride to Birmimgham, AL for the Barber Small Bore Festival last year: ua-cam.com/video/xItNMZ--qSc/v-deo.html . The National Cycle Deflector screen ( amzn.to/3RJsJaN ) might be a good option. It comes with U-bolts that clamp onto 7/8" and 1" handlebars, so it's a universal fit. I have that exact screen on my 2008 Yamaha XT250, and it's fantastic!
      The mounting arms have wing nuts (thumb screws) that allow you to quickly adjust the rake of the screen. The screen can also be detached quickly by unscrewing those adjusters... 10 seconds on/off for cleaning or riding without the screen. The mounting arms stay attached to the handlebars, so it won't be a perfectly clean appearance, but the mounts aren't obnoxiously large or unsightly. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

That would also allow me to put vertical deflectors to the sides of the center tube, so they would create a leg shield/fairing similar to the Super Cub... not as pretty, but they should be functional. @@QuasiMotard I would dearly love to see that come to fruition. Not only altruistically, for you, but selfishly, for me!
      Living in a flat/apartment, I currently have no space whatsoever for things like fabrication, and it has been a long, long time since I had the skills and confidence to attempt such a thing. I was a fairly OK gas welder when I was about 18, but that was in 1990. I also had some minor sheet-metal skill, but that was back then, too. Here in Japan it would cost a fortune to go to a fabrication shop with a one-off plan for, say, polished stainless fairing, even I handed them a technically perfect design in their desired format. Plastic would need some sort of light aluminium tube frame at least, I would have thought. As you say, though, if you had good foot-boards, you'd have half the battle won. I, too, am more concerned with functionality than prettiness, and I would not want to make a bike of this nature pretty anyway. I'd prefer a more rough-and-ready solo-adventure look, even for something that would be mostly for commuting. Still, I can wonder...
