Honda has a service bulletin out for this.
According to the directions from Honda, only the passenger side CV axle needs to come out, and the lower intake manifold bracket.
    That’s it.
I did it Honda’s way, and it took me maybe 2 or so hours to do it

This definitely a summer job😂. It’s -8 in Minnesota right now and my uninsulated garage is at a cozy 30 degrees.

Ohh man I do that from the bottom, some people remove the axle but I don't. This way makes the job easier doe when the intake is out. GJ👌

I plan on doing a bunch of suspension r&rs on my civic. Think I should do this while the suspension is removed?

I was wondering if it could be done from underneath.
Do you gotta remove the starter as well?

Great job on getting to that. But excuse my ignorance but I’m a toyota Lexus enthusiast and I don’t understand the purpose of having that plate there that is sealed by silicone. Black RTV ? I think where that starter is is stupid to. So you gotta do pretty much all that to get to the starter too? Unbelievable. I just picked up a 06 civic 1.8 and it’s got oil leaks everywhere. I looked up 2 on driver side of engine and 1 on back passenger for the VVT solenoid gasket dammmmmm

Use HondaBond it’s the OEM and works better than any other for this application

Just to let everyone know here that if you should disconnect to plug on the electronic throttle you will need to have it reset and reprogrammed using a diagnostic machine, the car will never run correctly without it, basically un-drivable.

      Ummmm no…
I’ve pulled multiple of these engines and you have to disconnect the throttle body for that.
No problems ever going back in and running after

What gasket material would you use on the plate after you clean it. Red Silicone? or is there a gasket?
