This album is about growing up, the trials and tribulations that come with it, and the self-esteem issues that we carry through to adulthood. But primarily, it’s about hope. The hope that we have it in us to rise above adversity, and the strength to help carry those who sink. I really hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.
Big love, Sam.❤

4:37 “That was alright wasn't it" After that masterpiece 😂
Lmao yes, what a mood
he’s just unreal, isn’t he?
Alan Hull would indeed be proud. Stunning performance. Really tugs at my emotions this song.
Only a geordie boy can sing this song god bless.alan hull
I get tearful when the younger generation doff their cap to the past. Their parents have done great work!!
His dad was / is a guitarist. Brother a great musician
He done Alan proud!
I’m not crying you’re crying.
Made me laugh
yes - the third or last verse, with Jesus got me!
this cover is the single best thing that happened this year
ikr
Agreed
What is the original?
@@jacintabrown4290 lidisfarne
check out the one by his friend - Hector Gannet - it's a great version too.
This lad is going places in 2021. His voice is strong honest and true. It's straight from the soul something you can't fake or deny. The musical saviour of his generation no question.
He’s a legend.
Nice description, too.
You might be right :)
And he appeals to all ages. My dad is 64 and absolutely adores Sam Fender. Everyone in our house does.
I’m listening to this beautiful song 11-28-22. I wish I could agree with you but, I’m afraid kids these days don’t appreciate beautiful music. He’s not Taylor Swift or Beyoncé. 😢😢
Astonishing interpretation & vocal performance. Alan Hull would be proud 👏.
RIP Alan Hull. A beautiful tribute to your talent.
This emptiness after the song is haunting. There should be a thunderstorm of applause for this beautiful performance.
Agreed, maybe it hit home.
there was no crowd due to covid 😅
@@abixx3999 i am aware of that. 😄
One of my all-time favourite Lindisfarne songs. I didn’t think anyone could ever really do it justice as it’s such a moving song, but Sam’s cover is superb. I feel sure Alan Hull would’ve loved it. It’s fantastic to see Sam bringing the music of Lindisfarne to the younger generations.
THIS COVER IS EVERYTHING
It s his own song though
@@veronika-pl88 No it's not, it's a cover of Alan Hull/ Lindisfarne's Winter Song
@@SujeshRK I wouldn't have known. Thanks
@@SujeshRK oh i didnt know.. Thank you
I think Alan being the generous soul he was would love this ,well done young Sam, RIP Hully genius beyond compare
Did you say "That was alreet that wasn't it" at the end? 🤣 All the best for the last of 2020 and 2021 everyone 🎄
Stunning version. I'm an old Lindisfarne fan and I love it.
I've become a Sam Fender fan too.
When winter's shadowy fingers
First pursue you down the street
And your boots no longer lie
About the cold around your feet
Do you spare a thought for summer
Whose passage is complete
Whose memories lie in ruins
And whose ruins lie in heat?
When winter comes howling in
When the wind is singing strangely
Blowing music through your head
And your rain-splattered windows
Make you decide to stay in bed
Do you spare a thought for the homeless tramp
Who wishes she was dead
Or pull up your bedclothes higher
Dream of summertime instead?
When winter comes howling in
The creeping cold has fingers
That caress without permission
And mystic crystal snowdrops
Only aggravate the condition
Do you spare one thought for the traveler
With no secure position
Who's turned and spurned by village and town
At the magistrate's decision?
When winter comes howling in
When the turkey is in the oven
And the Christmas presents are bought
And Santa's in his module
He's an American astronaut
Do you spare one thought for Jesus
Who had nothing but his thoughts
Who got busted just for talking
And befriending the wrong sorts?
When winter comes howling in
When winter
When winter comes
Comes howling in
I've always loved this song makes me think of been a kid growing up in the North East. Alan hull was a legend and you've done him proud fella what a legend 🙌
Greatest British song writer in 40 years.
He is but this song was written by Alan Hull of Lindisfarne
He is very good but this is a cover version of a Lindisfarne song from the early 1970's.
This kids talent is immeasurable. Hope to grow old listening to his songs.
I am in LA and saw u on the Brits! I didn't know who you were but as soon as you started singing "17 Going Under", I sat upright and opened my eyes WIDE!! OMG who is this? I have been watching ur You Tube videos since the Brits! You are a brilliant storyteller & a wonderful musician- & ur band is BANGIN!! Although ur songs & stories are mostly set in Northern England, they are so relatable.I haven't always loved Springsteen- I thought of him when I watched you. I'm not the 1st.I used to live near him in New Jersey, ( he lives on a beautiful horse farm) and saw him riding his motorcycle around and walking on them beach in the winter. He started in NJ & cld afford to live ANYWHERE, but has always lived in New Jersey.Yr roots rwhat feeds ur creative spirit.Don't let the music industry in London and LA change you, Sam Fender! I hope u come & do some gigs here.
Just found this, havnt heard of this guy, but, will look out for him, a superb cover, ps, RIP Alan

Sam you are incredible. This is so beautiful 😍
I never even knew Sam played the piano in this amazing rendition
Also, rememberinfg that this was performed during a lockdown, the fact there is no audience and therefore applause, is really quite eerie
This has reminded me what a beautiful song this is and also how much I miss performing with my concert band and symphony orchestra at the sage
