Saw him play when he was 18 for Southampton (1988) Newcastle had knocked him back, there was a real buzz about him. I'm a Gooner btw went with a Saints mate as we were in Bournemouth for the weekend.

Massively late to the Sam Fender party, but saw him supporting Bruce Springsteen in Rome last week - thought he was great and have downloaded some of his music. And I've always loved Alan Shearer! What a lovely interview this is 😊

Excellent musician, I'd totally agree with Shearer about people in Newcastle only wearing Toon tops, but being from Burnley its exactly the same, never ever see any other top but clarets one. I think that is how it should be, you should support your local club regardless of how good they are, that's the whole point to be proud of the team and town...I just can't understand people supporting Man Utd and living in Surrey, why? you simply can not have the same dedication and passion no matter how long you support them.

3 years ago: ‘I can’t fathom what’s going on’ when he meets Alan Shearer in a small clubhouse in North Shields.
This past weekend, c.2023: TWO sold-out nights at St James’ Park, to around 100,000 people, where he casually brought AC/DC’s frontman and fellow Geordie Brian Johnson on stage to sing a few songs amongst his own banging set list.

First Album I have purchased in years. Heard Sam on XS Manchester and told a friend about him, and he told me about this touching video. Took me back years, as being in Western Canada, and just learning about footie, I had friends proselyting me with ManU, Arsenal and Newcastle jerseys. Suffice it to say, I sided with the Geordie lads at the time of Shearer. Nice to see the planets align in this video.
