Not a doctor I'm sat watching this from a hospital bed after a suicide attempt since i woke up all iv done is listen to Sam fender soon as I'm out I'm off to get me guitar n sort me shit out. You are a Dr mate to so many people
Saw him play when he was 18 for Southampton (1988) Newcastle had knocked him back, there was a real buzz about him. I'm a Gooner btw went with a Saints mate as we were in Bournemouth for the weekend.
Sam is so down to earth what lovely guy, his music is so sincere and powerful, dead’s boys is a beautiful song first song I ever heard of Sam’s and I’ve never looked back since, captivating voice, sincere well written lyrics great on the guitar, amazing band ..can’t wait to see him next year in concert
Shearer is a legend, I walked past him in Hexham golf club car park an just said "alright Al, good game? " he smiled, said "terrible, enjoy yer day" then I nearly got ran over by a parked car, Sam is on the up an will end up another famous Geordie
@No More'Brain dead zombie'....oh wow, a keyboard warrior. 'Eh?' means you need to elaborate. How is he slandering his ancestry, and how is he evil and effeminate?
Have to confess that I only came across Sam’s music a couple of weeks ago. My excuse is I’m late 40s and just not down with the kids these days. Anyway, what a voice, what a musician, what a writer, what a gent. Bravo Sam. Keep doing what you do.
Newcastle is like Glasgow in the sense of loving their football teams. Aye and Leo the Lion - Legend Alan Shearer was born 3 days after me lol. I'm a Celtic fan and I appreciate this totally.
Massively late to the Sam Fender party, but saw him supporting Bruce Springsteen in Rome last week - thought he was great and have downloaded some of his music. And I've always loved Alan Shearer! What a lovely interview this is 😊
This is the best, most genuine interview I've ever seen, so brilliant to see two lads who grew up working class and did so incredibly well. Plus Sams humility about his job but still understanding the effect he can have is so mature and incredible of him
This lad seems very genuine and sincere and just a nice likeable decent person.. As a typical 50 yr old I Don't listen to much modern music I'm prob stuck in the 80s and 90s But Started listening to his music recently and he's brilliant very gifted and his songs are very relatable Hope he keeps a level head and good people around him... All the best Sam
Dead boys is my favourite song but I can't listen to it haha because It snaps me in half, I lost a best friend and I relate so much to that song, thankyou sam and the boys keep blessing us
Genuinely nice kid, with so much talent and passion for music. I’ve only really discovered his music in the last 6 months. Best singer/songwriter around and shits all over the talentless Ed sheeran
Lovely chat. Very important. That would’ve been very difficult for Shearer too, knowing that friendship he had with Gary Speed. Fair play, both chaps. True pride for the Toon.
Absolutely crackin interview, what a really down to earth lad, 3 years ago on benefits and look where he is now, credit to him. 👏 Just goes to prove, if you keep trying and aiming for something in life this is where you could possibly get.
First Album I have purchased in years. Heard Sam on XS Manchester and told a friend about him, and he told me about this touching video. Took me back years, as being in Western Canada, and just learning about footie, I had friends proselyting me with ManU, Arsenal and Newcastle jerseys. Suffice it to say, I sided with the Geordie lads at the time of Shearer. Nice to see the planets align in this video.
There are fewer worthy folks than those who have the beautiful and due success as this fella. I grew up on the streets of the north east, the age of despair, no prospects, dead end job. Questioning the future. None understand it all like Sam, he speaks of resilience but it's spoken from experience. But he is living proof that talent and hard work wins in the end. I'm chuffed to bits for ya Sam! Keep shining that light, carrying that torch for the North East! Meeting your hero and idol is just magical haha! Love ya pal!!!
Sam Fender ....For a lad so young ....This interview has proven that your care to issues facing people is legendary ...Well done...You are a top bloke, with a top band making great tunes
Two great Geordies together, love it Sam is just an amazing young musician, and what can you say of Alan Shearer, a football god.. Love Newcastle, the city the people and everything about the place, moving there soon............can't wait. A dream come true.

Boy has done so good, top work Sam 👏🥹
Excellent musician, I'd totally agree with Shearer about people in Newcastle only wearing Toon tops, but being from Burnley its exactly the same, never ever see any other top but clarets one. I think that is how it should be, you should support your local club regardless of how good they are, that's the whole point to be proud of the team and town...I just can't understand people supporting Man Utd and living in Surrey, why? you simply can not have the same dedication and passion no matter how long you support them.
What makes me happy in these crazy times is that young people like Sam, true musicians who love their craft, will keep music alive and well. Not just existing but thriving. Wonderful.
Saw him in Leeds recently, asked the crowd to chant shearers name and he recorded it on on someone’s phone because his died, he said he’d send it to shearer afterwards
lovely genuine lad. I heard of him couple of years back but never listened to him as " hes probably one of those reality arsehole" How wrong i was. very talented boy. Good luck to him
The story about the guy in his car hit me completely. I know what he means because i mostly work with cancer patients. A lot of them have not much time left.
Sam saying "Michael Owen is a twat" and Alan pissing himself laughing, floors me every time
This Sam Fender geezer looks like a healthy Kurtan from This Country
Hahahahaha yea he does
That’s accurate 😂😂😂
SPOT ON
Just got into his music recently. He's an outstanding musician, Newcastle should be very proud.
We are
We are mate
Not to be one of those "Well, actually..." twats BUT... he's from North Shields.
I just saw him and his band live last weekend-one of the best gigs I've ever been to! Still smiling - he's a special one.
Nevermind Newcastle being proud. I'm from Middlesbrough and the whole North East should be proud. He's absolutely brilliant.
