VERY detailed. Turn off tv and music. Have your camera in your hands. Pause the video the second you need to catch up. This is LONG but incredibly useful and detailed. I will probably go through this many times. This will show you how to use the 90% of the camera features that most people will never use....because they never saw this video or one like it. Next for me is the Kyler's film simulation video! Great job Kyler!
Thanks! Im coming from a Canon 5D and wanted to simplify my set up. Little did I know that Fuji's menu is more robust than my 5D. Appreciate the video and hope you make more of these specific to the Fuji x100 line.📷
ordered back in May 2024 and had since been back ordered of course... Got lucky with 'open box' on Adorama...received and unboxed the camera few days ago... and found this video. it's my first FujiFilm camera so thank you so much for all of this information. this was huge help. Watched the entire thing and set it pretty much exactly as you did, plus now I'm so much more comfortable with the menus etc. thanks again
Just got my X100VI today from B&h after 100 days waiting, I just followed your steps for set up, thank you for this great work, and keep your head up, u 2 best,
This was just amazing. I love the way you walked us through all the settings and I really have the feeling that I'm starting to understand my new camera (and starting to love it!). Kyler, you did an awesome job and I appreciate it so much that I can't even put it in words. PS: I also like your voice and pronounciation, it was a pleasure to listen to. I'm gonna dive straight in your next video :)
Thanks for making the Effort to make this video. I'm very experienced with Fujifilm from the XPRO-2 to the T4 and now this.... but man it feels like a different beast with a lot of other sub menus that I did'nt know bout! cheers Kyler!
@ 49:06 not sure if this is true for the x100vi but on the XT50 when you set Aperture Ring to "command" when you use the scroll wheel you can go through all the f stop but if you keep scrolling it will put you back into auto. For example, scroll from lowest to highest aperture, but if you keep scrolling, I'm in auto again without having to go back into the menu. Can you confirm for x100vi if this function is the same?
Excellent video, it really helped me to understand this camera better and set it up for the way I shoot. I'm going to check out your other videos that address other features.
This video has been a tremendous help in my usage of the x100vi. I literally had no idea how to set up the my menu and customize the buttons. This went in great but comprehensive detail and I cannot express my appreciation enough. Very well done and thank you so very much for putting this together!
Excellent video, very helpful, easy to follow and well explained. One little helpful note, when you set any of function buttons to "select custom setting" unless you have a custom setting already saved nothing pops up on the screen when you press the allocated FN button.
Really enjoyed this video! Thank you for putting in the time to make this! I just received my x100vi and this is my first 'real' camera, and I set most of my settings the same way you described and am excited to get out and use it. One thing I'd really like to note though- and please correct me if I'm wrong- but if you choose to put the camera in full manual mode and set Aperture Ring Setting (A) to COMMAND in order to use the rear dial to control aperture, then placing the ring in position A and spinning the rear dial all the way to the right will basically put the camera back into Auto aperture mode. Then, spinning the dial one click to the left will 'enter' manual aperture mode, starting at f16, and go down from there with each subsequent spin to the left. Spinning all the way back to the right, past f16, will once again put the camera into Auto aperture mode. Please let me know if this doesn't make sense, or if I am mistaken! Cheers
Very informative video, learned a lot and realised how much this camera can do, thank you! The only thing I could figure was how/where you setup which buttons to include on the Q menu screen. And how to arrange those buttons when the various menu items are picked. Thanks
Late to the X100VI party, but I’m so glad I found your video. I got my camera yesterday, my first digital one after using a Nikon FM3a. You covered all the settings and made the setup so easy. Now I feel like I might actually know what I’m doing with the X100VI-shockingly enough😂
Hi Kyler! I've had a hard time watching videos on the Fuji X100VI and I've never really had the patience to sit through them completely. However this one is different. I've just finished setting up and I want to thank you for the clear guidelines. Awesome job and I cannot wait to start shooting :) On to your video about Film sims! :)
Thank you! Very good presentation of a lot of settings and a menu sometimes a little bit confusing. The use of Command Dial is an example of this and was very well clarified.
I'm curious if this is the updated firmware 1.01? At 24:44 you start explaining the BUILT-IN FLASH and quickly run through the settings for this, including TTL MODE. I'm unable to change to TTL SLOW mode regardless of what I do. I've really only begun to explore the menus on this camera and updated firmware is the only explanation I can come up with. Perhaps when I do upgrade it to 1.01 and come back to this menu, it will show all the options that you run through for TTL.
Hi! Great video I'm trying to apply every tips you're giving to a X-T50 but whenever I'm making a modification on my C7 (Default) to create a new Recipe, I can't reset it to zero (the option to do so isn't clickable) and I'm forced to do it manually. Also I can't save any changes if I make any adjustment on the Quick Menu (the save button isn't available as well) Any suggestion maybe ? Thanks !
Such a detailed video. Thanks for this. I have a question - is it normal for the EVF and LCD to have different color representations? My EVF seems much cooler with a high contrast but when I preview the photo on LCD it seems less to have less contrast and is warmer.
Im sure someone has mentioned this, but for the Touch control auto focus settings, area is great as it lets you touch to pick which location to autofocus so you arent using your joystick to move around the points. Goated setting imo
It's very helpful - one question - I added an adapter and UV filter and see the lenses in the viewfinder in the lower right corner. Is there any setting that eliminates that? Thank you for taking the time to do the tutorial
No the viewfinder style will always block that lower right corner. If you want to see the frame unobstructed you can flip the switch and go electronic viewfinder!
How do you use the hybrid viewfinder - with the small patch in the bottom corner? I want it to just show my scene off the sensor. Example: I am shooting with the Acros preset with the OVF - but I want the small patch in the corner to show my full scene in B&W so I can keep an eye on my tones.
Not sure exactly but if you move the switch to the left a couple times and the right a couple times until it gives you the frame you want you’ll definitely get it!
@@KylerSteele It's so weird. I was using the small patch on the first day I got the camera but haven't been able to get it to come back since. I need to call Fuji I guess. Their menus are cryptic, but your video helped me get most of the menus set up so I won't have to dig through them as much now.

Some examples being: Select custom setting (under Pixel Mapping), AF Range Limiter, Photometry, Flickerless S S Setting, etc. I notice you are able to click into these and but I can't even click them at all. Some settings will be grayed out/not available if you are in single shot/burst/video mode. Another reason is if you are creating a custom setting then you cant select one while creating one. So make sure you are out of that menu and back in the main screen
Out of curiosity, you mentioned that you shoot mostly with AF-S with the focus point centered, do you focus and recompose the scene? What about moving objects? Like for example people coming towards you? Do you switch to AF-C in such cases? I find the VI misses a lot much more than my Q3.
Worth noting the main reason for not using AF+MF is that it overrides your selection of focus priority to release priority. Same with back button focus. And setting up lock is really useful. You skipped over it but by default the only thing that is locked when you lock the camera is the Q menu. The reason for me locking the camera is when giving to someone else or if I am in a crowded environment and being jostled, or maybe it's raining to prevent touchscreen issues. I don't want certain settings accidently changed. And not just the Q menu. So I rather select all, and then deselect those few functions I want to always have access to when locked. Which is very few.

Apple adopted it for their devices all the way back in 2017, that's almost 7 years now, so all your iphones, macs etc support it already (windows might need plugins). I’ve been an early adopter in the past and feel like I’d rather stick with standards til mass adoption. Also I don’t have any lack of storage so I like shooting uncompressed. Usually makes the file easier to edit also
The vast majority of users of both Windows and Mac, iPhone or Android... are ready for HEIF right now... and like you said it is HALF the size but it isn't the same perceived quality... its better, with 64x the color range because of the 10-bit vs. 8-bit. JPEG is hanging on for no good reason for most, and in the super rare situation you need to send a HEIF to someone with an ancient computer, you can convert it to JPEG... sure an extra step with a slight loss of quality... but someone with such an old setup wouldn't notice the difference anyway. The VAST majority of people's current equipment is ready for HEIF now, Capture One, Lightroom, Apple Photos etc. all work with HEIF, and uploading to all major social media sites with HEIF is supported.
Hi, I want to know, If you take pictures in full auto mode with FUJIFILM X100VI, can the camera blurred the backround automatically? I dont like photos of a person with blurred background. Shoot in aputure priority and aim for f8 to keep everything in focus
@@KylerSteele There is even higher numbers: f16, f11. Why not to choose them? Will not the photos be even sharper?

Video tutorial pls!
On the way! Editing now!
User settings was confusing and got lost when I tried to follow along with my camera. Other than that very informative
Let me know if you have any specific questions!

You don't have to put your camera in M mode to use back button focus.
How come you got black not silver ?
I had a silver x100v and didn't love the color. The black suits me way better!
Black is the only option 🙌🏼
👉🏻 You need to change this right now 👈🏻 It will only take about 55 minutes.
A lot of changes 😂
Was not helpful. There were a few settings which are very important and you kept it on ‚off‘ eg „Electronic Level Setting“ 🙈 30:17

No G!
Blud hasn't been introduced to the letter G
😂 I can’t. Buttins 😂
Selectin, shootin
"Set-in's"
90% of the settings, you just kept it "off" and didn't elaborate...
It's very impressive how you don't say the 'g' at the end of setting! Is that a cultural thing? When did you learn that behavior? Haha
Just never learned it I guess. I try to fix it sometimes but it’s hard to relearn
I wish they make flip screen for vlogging 😢
I like this screen design! XT5 is super similar camera with a vlog screen!
@@KylerSteele XT5 screen doesn´t flip.
@@mufana1 You are correct! FujiFIlm XH2S is the one I am thinking of!
This camera is meant for photography not vlogging, that’s why is wasn’t designed with a flip screen
Definitely “No” on the flip screen
can anyone tell me why I can't shoot panoramas on both my (new to me today) x100vi and also my xt4? how ever I moving the cameras, they say sweep faster or sweep slower. maddening.
Hi. I texted you in instagram. I need some help
