  • It's FINALLY time to get some Meshuggah up on my channel!!!
Starting off with a somewhat easier track by Meshuggah standards - Demiugre from the album Koloss.
    Tuning - F Standard - 8 String
F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb
    Intro - 0:00
    Intro Riff - 0:17
    Band In - 0:22
    Verse - 0:48
    Intro Riff Returns - 1:47
    Break 1 - 2:15
    Bridge 1 - 2:27
    Build Up - 3:01
    Bridge 2 - 3:23
    Break 2 - 3:49
    Outro Riff - 4:00
    Outro Melody - 4:23
    Fade Out - 5:30
There is quite a bit to wrap your head around in this song if you're not use to the style. As always take it slow to start. Some of the song is easier to 'feel' than count. The verse riff for example I tend to rely on muscle memory, however the end section I count to keep track as described a bit further down.
A lot of this song is down picked too so it's a good song to practise as it's mid tempo and great to practise really digging in with your picking hand. It's also super satisfying to wallop that low F!
There's a lot of patterns and repetition in this song in various ways. Quite often sections can be broken down into phrases.
Eg the intro riff I count as a mix of 6 beat and 4 beat phrases. At 0:23 the first 6 beat phrase starts on the 14th fret, then there is a 4 beat descending phrase also starting on the 14th fret, then another 6 beat phrase that starts on the 13th fret. This section then repeats to form the intro section.
    Outro riff breakdown
The easiest way I've found to break down this section is to see it as a combination of high notes followed by a series of 1 & 0 on the low F.
It's a mix of high notes followed by five sets of -1-0.
    The high notes follow a pattern of;
    two high notes
    four high notes
    three high notes
    five high notes
    Or:
    5 3, (1st time)
    5 3 2 4 (2nd time)
    5 3 2 (3rd time)
    5 3 2 4 5 (4th time)

I feel like "Demiurge" is kinda underrated. People always talk about how great "Bleed" is but I think "Demiurge" is WAY cooler. Great cover as always!

Demiurge is honestly like the heaviest song I've ever heard.. by any band. The breakdown bit at the end is just insane. I love the slow pace of the song

      It’s like “born in dissonance”
The three mentioned songs came out 08, 12, 16, I believe.

No, Demiurge is 2nd most listened to meshuggah song and one of the worst by them. So....normal...

You should definitely try covering their song “Break Those Bones Whose Sinews Gave it Motion”, a personal favorite of mine😄

    Writhing and embraced
    Retribution, soul eclipse turns solid
    Energized
Sucking vomit, acting like its honey
    Deprived of I
Falling while thrusting squares through circles
    Serving one single new dimension
    Terror rising
    Agnostics' nemesis
    A prophet of extinction
I scorch the skies before your very eyes
    My deliverance
    Enslavement labelled love
Just trust this, nemesis, to sign and seal extinction

noicee, next try psalm or agony or he exists(enterprise earth). they are great 8 string songs. I believe cycles of hyuspex and overseer(aversion's crown) are on an 8 string as well.

It's got 10-74 at the moment but I might try a set of 11s next time I restring it

Nice cover 🔥Would you recommend this Harley Benton 8 string?

Sorry for the slow reply! For what I paid (I got a B stock) I'm happy with it. I don't like bolt on necks so the fact this is neck through is great too. Overall it's nice to play, pretty heavy guitar but not excessive. I hadn't played 8 string before and wanted something to test the waters that was still decent, not the cheapest, but also not 1K+.
