I mean yes it is expensive and complicated but compared to an s class and bmw 7 series it is by far way more reliable. It just doesn’t have the set in stone simplicity and reliability that other Lexus models are known for. So for those who don’t have money to repair them or not very mechanically inclined should stay away. If they want a no nonsense basic maintenance only car buy a Camry or a is, gs, or es 350.
Love the video and agree with everything you said. They aren't bad cars... I love my 08 LS460. It's fully optioned (someone paid over 200k AUD for it here in Australia) and I picked it up a couple of years ago for about 15% of that (the price of a new Corolla). Best value for money luxury without the fear of a Euro barge and their higher failure rates. Keeping it for as long as I can!
Just bought my 08 as a daily and love it so far. Maintenance is a bit pricey but about the same as my 18’ 5.0 which isn’t terrible and from what I’ve seen on forums it’s only high mileage wear and tear that you’d have on any other car really.
My 08 LS460 still runs great with over 200k miles. Can pull 500 miles on a tank on interstate. Currently working on my 09 LS600hl I got from copart. Amazing cars.
Really enjoyed this. I learned quite a few things on how much more advanced your LS is than my '11 ES 350. I knew some options, but damn, amazing for the era. Can't beat it. My ES came used with most of the options, minus the Mark Levinson. I didn't research the LS much, it was out of my price range at the time. Beautiful LS and thanks for the newly acquired info and appreciation.
This comment is literally the point of why I wanted to do this video. Every car I own I research the hell out of them. I’ve seriously read every owners manual for every car any of my family has owned. And I just felt people didn’t realize how good the LS’s are. Thanks
I've owned my 2010 LWB for 10 years. I am at 160k miles and the only things ive had to address are the worn upper control arms and the typical coolant valley leak. My trunk wont pop from the fob. the buttons still work so i live with that. I havent had a single air suspension leak. And everything still works as it should. I still own my 2000 and 2006 which my kids drive. And my wife drives a 2019. (so far so good) 2000 and 06 are very special cars imo. however while the 2007 are a different kind of LS the def do NOT deserve the hate. my 2010 has been just as reliable and enjoyable
& thats why i love lexus! Just got me a gs460 2010 rare v8 2 days ago and my uncle has a 2008 gs460 v8 ! Great fast reliable cars and were so ahead of their time 🤘🏼
Thank you for this video. All I see is hate for the video but to speak the truth, you get what you pay for. Like you said, you gotta pay to play. All vehicles require maintenance and that's just it. I just upgraded from a 2008 Honda Accord 3.5L V6 EX-L which was considered to be the worst model year in the history of the accord. I now own the 2009 LS460 L and I'm loving every minute of it. I'm prepared for maintenance but not at the rate of my old car. Anyhow, great video and I hope you make more like this.
Thank you for this. It’s the entire reason why I wanted to make a video like this. I do a ton of research for every car I’ve owned just cause I never buy a car I don’t have an interest in. And I just didn’t think people slept on this car sooo much. So thank you. I will absolutely make more. 😁
Truly an awesome series of cars probably the greatest engine and car series ever. All the electronics like massaging chairs and heated seats is what slowly kill those cars but maybe they will figure it out
It was the flag ship Lexus sedan when it first came out. I think that argument is so stupid, ofc it’s expensive an older s class or 7 series is still expensive to maintain today. Atleast the Ls is reliable
All those world firsts tend to come with problems down the road... Bottom line, sounds like u have to pay to play... Its probably way less expensive to maintain and more reliable to the comparable european luxury vehicle. Thanks for the video
I've heard that, not only were they world firsts, but also insanely reliable. Really, the only issues I've heard about any of these were just the suspension issues, which is kind of insane. Newer cars that have these "world firsts", like a BMW with self parking, tend to go bad quicker than these lol
The LS doesnt really have a base model, it only has a longer version, after that there are an insane amount of packages and add-ons that were available. So its a mix
@@eddieg9060 try finding one here in switzerland, i searched for a daily LS400 two whole years. there is only one LS400 for sale here and its got the grey leather interior which i dont like and has 550'000km's on it💀
Not even close my man, the ES300 is, or the IS250, or the 89-91 ES250, the SC's had all kind of issues, This LS is the first LS that focused on technology rather than fit and finish alone. Doesnt make it Unreliable, or any less well put together, its just more complicated and as time goes on complicated means more fixes, but all the Big Luxury Sedans are like this, and the Lexus is easily the most reliable of the segment. But to say THE most unreliable Lexus ever just shows your ignorance on the subject, sounds like something you read online and just regurgitate online.

It’s a great car… that lexus will take care of you for a long time😂 enjoy it
You forgot about the long wheel base models
So I was focusing on industry firsts for this, but I’ve had enough interest that I’m working on features that arnt necessarily LS460 specific
The biggest haters obviously know nothing about Lexus so why waste your breath lol let them stay ignorant
Love this car
Does the base model have these features?

it is the most unreliable lexus ever made. just go for an LS430
Ls400

Love how big they are and all the luxuries but In my opinion, it’s no s class competitor.. I would say a Buick competitor
The fact you think anything Buick is worth competing kinda says it all 😒🤢
The ls literally outsold S class and the 7 series when they first dropped in the 90s and for a reason. Took the germans by storm .
