I love "DAW hopping"... Reaper is numero uno, but I also use (and have) Cakewalk (new Sonar), Cubase 13, Fl, Bitwig, Live, Reason and Waveform pro. Love them all for diferent reasons. What I like the most about Reaper is that you can set it up just the way you like it. It takes some effort, but once you have done that ..... nothing beats it. But like I said.... love using the other daws to from time to time. And you.....yes you😉..keep up the good work💪💪🥳

Here's a conspiracy theory, as far as Ik, Bandlab's CEO is the son of the richest man in Malaysia who's father was also the richest man in Malaysia and they own the biggest palm oil companies there. So at the end of the day, Bandlab just feels like a palm oil industry subsidised software company that makes music software but they aren't that serious about making software nor they are gonna run out of money if they take too much time to make monetary descisions.

Great video and as Reaper fanboy and evangelist, I had to agree with the statement, no one daw is for everyone and it's a good thing to have a choice but not letting anyone share constructive criticism makes the community very hostile and unwelcoming and would hurt the software in the long term.
IMHO, Reaper is probably the most underrated daw in the market, sure there are other daws that are even lesser known than Reaper but they are not crazy powerful and flexible as Reaper. I think you should make a separate channel to make videos about Reaper and showcase the tools and workflows.

For me the jury is currently out on Reaper and Reacwp. I love that they exist and kudos to the developers but are they for me? Maybe. We'll see.

@@XELOhh1 Yeah, let's all learn. It's nice to have some balance from someone like you, as a partial antidote to those who think that saying their (our!) daw isn't perfect is like insulting their children. And I'm really glad you're not too bothered by it.
Regarding Reaper itself I've just discovered sub-projects. Ooh! And auto-colouring/icons in sws. Ooh! I might be able to make good use of those. Now if only I can figure out how to make the whole track header coloured in Echolot (as it is in CW and vanilla Reaper) instead of just a little strip to its left... [Edit: I've now sorted that and more. I just had to track down the options referred to by mawi in his 06-27-2021 Cockos forum post about the original Echolot in the current vsn of Reaper. 😊]

I'm still up in the air. i'm used to how I work in CW, and as I mentioned in another post, if Sonar is not for me, I may opt to get back to using Samplitude Pro. Not sure yet whether I'll try Reaper. Thanks for showing how to set up Reaper to somewhat emulate CW, visually. Here's a question: I use CW's ability to "drag/drop" a wave file to the timeline, and have it calculate the BPM. This is really great, because I will do a full track that is sent to me that way, and its been accurate every time. I know that its somehow using Melodyne but man, it is so useful. I can then add instruments/vocals, and have perfect metronome beats and I don't have to manually calculate anything. After all that, here's the question: does Reaper or anything else you know of do that? - I know, I live such a sheltered life.

Just watched this video again. Regarding the lack of Sonar release... I suspect they want Next and Sonar released together and I suspect that their changes to the Sonar (CW) gui are taking a lot longer than they'd hoped. I love CW, although I have my issues with it, but as a software designer and developer by trade it feels like the code is messy to me - you know like you fix something over here and it breaks something over there. I don't know this - it's just a feeling - but it would make sense as it's been around a long time and code has a tendency to get messy over time unless you really stay on top of it. If so then my hope is that this exercise will have helped tidy it up. Regardless of the reasons though they really do need to get things moving. I'm not overly bothered by the delay myself - CW is still free after all - but you are right that the uncertainty is annoying some people, and the rest of the daw world is moving on.

I'm being forced to move away from Cakewalk because it's not fully compatible with DearVR products to provide the ability to engineer your multichannel mixes with headphones. DearVR now works with AMD chips btw I made the discovery recently, they use Apple coding and they recently announced support for AMD. Anyway, all fingers seem to be pointing to Reaper as the best DAW for DearVR tech. I love Cakewalk, had it since V5 but it had fallen behind a little too much. Also companies/teams that are devoted to make a particular product like a drum machine are likely going to be able to release updates and expansions rather than makers of a DAW. I think once it offers the most flexibility, stability and performance anyone could ever ask for, only then should they produce their own plugins.

So they get all defensive, accuse of being a Reaper shill and they whine and cry like I stole their beer.
