- Rumen Radev was born on 18th of June 1963 in Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria. In 1982, he graduated from the Mathematics School in Haskovo with a gold medal. He graduated from the Bulgarian Air Force University „Georgi Benkovski“ in 1987 as the top graduate. In 2003, he graduated with honors from Air War College in Maxwell AFB in the United States as a Master of Strategic Studies .
Rumen Radev is a Doctor of Military Sciences in the field of improvement of tactical training of flight crew and simulation of air combat.
Rumen Radev milary career started as a junior pilot in a Fighter Aviation Regiment in Ravnets. From 2005 to 2009, he was commander of the Third Fighter Airbase - Graf Ignatievo. Then for five years he worked as Bulgarian Air Force deputy commander and from 2014 to 2016 he was commander of The Bulgarian Air Force.
Rumen Radev was awarded the sign „For loyal service under the flags“ - III degree, and Honorary sign of the Ministry of Defence „Saint George“ - II degree.
Radev is a pilot first class and has flown over 1,400 hours.
In 2014, together with colleagues, he organized aviation show „This we are!“ and personally performed the „Bell“ and „Cobra“ manoeuvres on a MiG-29.

So far he has been a very good president. And a very good pilot. That MiG-29K is also very manuevrable, I think the Bulgarian army should purchase more of MiG-29SMT, MiG-35 or MiG-31. However this never really happened. The general president never really bought them because Bulgaria wouldn't really be in war time with any other country until at least 40 years. That kind of depends on the Bulgarian politicians really. They are the reason Bulgaria is failing as a country and mostly military. The general president couldn't really stop them and he wants to put them in the right path but that never happened. Those politicians will probably sell all of the upgraded MiG-29 once the president buys them. Let's not forget to mention that the previous president ruined most of Bulgaria's economy and hated Russia. Bulgaria should be linked with Russia. During the ages of the USSR there was no NATO intervention in Bulgaria and the army is very well trained. There weren't many examinations and military comparisons at the time but Bulgaria is said to have one of the best military forces in the world with 600 000 best trained soldiers in the world considered to be better trained than the British and Turkish. Tanks were very advancent at the time. There weren't many advanvent variants of the T-72 because the Bulgarian T-72M2 was the most powerful one at the time of its creation. The Americans back then had Abrams M1A1. Decently armoured all around tank. Excellent protection. The British had Challenger I, Conqueror, Cheiftains. They were almost a generation behind than the Soviet tanks. The Soviet Union (except Bulgaria) with China had T-72B, T-10M and T-80. Other countries had M60A1 Patton and MBT-70. Bulgarian Air Forces weren't lacking at all. However they weren't at the top 10. They had a lot of Su-24, Su-25, MiG-23, MiG-29 and MiG-21.
