He changed my view about work and business, he delivered happiness and hope with his book and ideas, he is goon, but alive in his book, delivering happiness to other people.
He was a very sweet, idealistic, but also innovative, man. For such people mundane life, even after career success, still feels hollow. He couldn’t find the kind of love and consistent happiness his heart and soul longed for and that plagued him, along with fears and despair over things he saw unfolding in the Country and in the world. For some people, heaven is the only place they will ever be truly happy. Just a shame he went too soon. RIP, Tony,.
I just finished reading his book delivering happiness when the tragic news surfaced. A great book and an amazing story about his company. RIP Tony, a real inspiration 🙏.
RIP Tony -A huge loss for our society -its heartbreaking - I read this book - Delivering Happiness and this man was a true genius ...very few people can touch lives like he did
Having Tony’s wealth basically stripped his life of sincerity, trust and true friendships. At some point you have to realize that your “ friends” are all on the payroll. I feel he died of loneliness without really experiencing what it really feels like to be loved for you and not the size of you bank account.
I did as well, I was honored by him by giving away over 100 of his books. I spoke to him twice, he was a brilliant, good and kind man. If anyone dares to discredit this they didn't know him, and are fools.
@@dleimkuehler the Thrift Stores in Las Vegas have many copies of his book. The town also has an entire zip code full of his silly RE ventures empty.. It amazes me just how easily it is to con so many people. Just whisper sweet nothing into their ears...
I visit downtown Vegas, my favorite place. I get a lump in my throat, when I think of how he brought it back to life. Sad story & I wonder if something could have been done for his health. It reminds me of a modern Howard Hughes story.
There is a good group of us who were close to him that didn't join him in Utah. But I guess that group of us have our own money and businesses. He was soft-spoken with a big heart. I was with him the first time he did public speaking and his right leg wouldn't stop shaking. Haha. He was so nervous. Since his death he has visited me in my dreams. It's a crazy feeling. Very sad times. All the best and take care - Ryan
Tony was caught in his OWN world. Looking at all the stories you can tell that his family created a so called environment of success that is NOT livable and he grew up trying to please them per say. They wanted him to play instruments or be a doctor or lawyer. But he chose neither of the above. He pleased them with going to Harvard. But Tony indicated that he cheated in school. Thus, at Zappos he was trying to created the so called perfect environment for a worker to be. But in the end he was the CEO. He was single and had NO significant other than the pets he had. He did NOT look happy in the interviews he did. There was NO emotion there. No laughing. No joking like the employees. Thus, Tony was looking and looking for his OWN nirvana and in this planet he did NOT FIND IT. It did NOT fulfilled him.
He was responsible for the revamping of Downtown Las Vegas. He gave small businesses a chance to succeed within his re-development of Downtown Las Vegas. He was a silent pioneer
He was going through a tough period, but anyone who had interacted with him prior to 2020, knew how truly amazing, special, warm, fun, and loving he was. He was lonely at times, like anyone, but he had a ton of friends, and not everyone was just out to get money. Things seemed to change in 2020 once Covid hit and he left Zappos and Vegas. The combination of just a few small things, taken to the extreme, and maybe a handful of the wrong people led to tragedy. I thought Park City would have been a breath of fresh air, a place to start over, and a chance to imagine the future. The plans I saw and heard when I visited PC a year ago were interesting. Still so sad and shocked. He was truly a radiant person.
Tony was a genuinely nice guy. Unlike most people of his stature, he was very open and welcoming to everyone who came into his life. This resulted in him being surrounded by vultures, grifters, and enablers.
Tragic story of addiction. My now ex husband worked there for years and also had a problem with alcohol addiction that I believe ruined my marriage. We had even traveled with Tony and one trip he had two different gals one for half the week, another for the remaining. Too much party.
Addiction is another word for rust. It's one way nature recycles what is not just. Nothing more complex to it than that...if you are addicted, you are in the process of being recycled. have fun.
This is an important perspective to share with readers and viewers, especially because the topic of longevity is at the forefront of many people’s minds. For example, I’d love my lifetime to be more than 150 year’s, but I must be conscious of seeking to understand both sustainable and healthy ways to do so. May Tony Hsieh rest in peace. 🙏🏼
Very sad. I remember being hired at Zappos call center in 2003 and during the training, both Tony and Nick came in personally and spoke to the new hires. Both guys were really cool and strolled in wearing flip-flops and floral Hawaiin print shorts lol. It made meeting the owners pretty comfortable because they were so chill.
Tony did have real friends and not everyone knew him, and not everyone can understand what someone experiences over time. Tony was one of the kindest and most generous people to ever live and he helped artists all the time. Everyone should value who a person is and this is a tragedy to lose such a talented person and any death like this should be deemed highly suspicious. WHERE IS TONY HSIEH'S WILL?
Just goes to show money doesn't bring happiness. Addiction causes severe depression and a lack of sleep which will ultimately cause you to feel suicide. I know, I've gone through it. Don't try drugs people thinking you can control your habit because at first you might be able to but then out of nowhere you start getting withdrawls and bam you're addicted. The withdrawls are horrible I can't even compare them to anything and ultimately it makes you an addict because you'll constantly use just so you won't get sick. Don't do it pleaseeee! Also getting on meds psych meds with doctors try not to take them longer then 6 months because they all cause withdrawls even the ones that aren't narcotics. I got put on sleeping meds then after more then a year I tried to stop taking them and I got soo friggin sick vomiting every 20 mins, my whole body hurting like as if I was hit by a truck. Worse feeling ever, I felt like I was going to die!!
Money makes people more eccentric and ill. I worked for someone whose entitled world became so twisted that they became delusional. I'm reminded of Howard Hughes, Anna Nicole Smith and Michael Jackson.
yea, dont get it. I'm assuming amazon was dominating, and people werent buying in zappos. So, he probably sold it to them. How he did? probbaly was murder
Wealth and ego can be a pretty bad mixture. Add a bunch of sycophants always telling you yes plus a drug problem and life must have been really frustrating and confusing for him.

He preached about happiness in life but hardly a happy person. He was definitely not at peace with himself and life. He didn’t have relationship with God. He filled his emptiness / vacuum by experimenting with drugs and harming his body. Truly tragic.
Maybe, he was too high, and he did not hear them, maybe he was having an hallucination that someone was after him, or he was sleeping and in this state he became unconscious of the smoke inhalation. Who knows?
The girl was awesome. Explained well and voice was loud and clear as it should be. The guy however meds to find another job. He cannot be a reporter when he hardly opens his mouth while speaking!?! We can't even heat his voice. Can't you find more competent and confident people to do the job? Fire him, replace him.

Mental and physical health is wealth. Not money
