    My wife handles the research for our trips. But one thing I know she does is book out of season and book well in advance. Neither of us enjoy crowds, heat, or paying too much.

      Hi..I’m like your wife Duke and plan all of our trips and we vacation out of season for the same reasons as y’all. Now retired we have all the time flexibility we didn’t have before…so we get some great prices.

    Thanks and thumbs are up 👍👍 Air transat has always been our air travel. We do not like off season travel as we like to have some life to where we are going too but agree to less cost. Research is def the key to success. Took me more than a year to find reasonable rent in Florida. Right now we are enjoying this beautiful weather and walks on the beach. I guess you are off to your trailer...ENJOY ❤❤❤

    When you are retired you can travel at the last minute and get some good deals. Sometimes you can go to the airport and get some cancellations. I remember getting a good airfare deal for a one way ticket to Calgary in the summer of 2007 when I came over looking for a job. I don't know how I got through customs with a one way ticket but I did. I just told the customs officer that I was staying with friends in Okotoks and was probably staying for 1 to 2 months but I may have to return sooner to England. I was offered a job after 18 days despite not having my permanent residency processed. The company managed to get me a work visa until my PR came through. I did some trips to the mountains and came back after staying for 25 days. I just kept my eyes open for deals and managed to get a one way flight back to London for $99. I have now been with that company for 16 years and plan to retire in my 22nd year.

  • @pattyk8594
    @pattyk8594 26 днів тому +2

    What you say is true, the more flexible you are with grabbing a deal within 4 weeks of traveling, the greater the discounts. This is true with cruise ships. The price goes down the closer to sailing date. But then the air fare goes up the more last minute your ticket purchases are.

    I’d suggest registering with Air North the Yukon’s airline. They fly from Ontario. They are a top rated airline and provide the best service. Meal and their famous cookie. Come see the Yukon and Skagway, Alaska’s narrow gauge railway is nearby. There’s RV rentals, music festivals, Dawson City. Lots of history in the Yukon.

    I’ve been watching you for just over a month now and find your videos very interesting and helpful. Glad you don’t swoosh your camera when on a trip like how some video people do, makes one dizzy and I don’t like all the flash stuff people use. Just want content, interesting scenery views and clear explanations. Keep doing as you do. From a Brit born, Los Angeles raised, now returned to UK to live my retirement years gal.

    Hi Norm , I know this is out of topic but I think your diet is working but don't overdo it

  • @OldGirlPhotography
    @OldGirlPhotography 26 днів тому +1

    I think you've hit it on the head: the main advantage to travel in retirement is the ability to travel when others don't or need more lead time. Travel in the off-season, shoulder season, travel at a moment's notice, or travel to less well travelled destinations can all lead to huge savings. It becomes more difficult when you want to do family vacations and the younger folk are still working or have to provide months of notice to be away. And then there are other obligations like being a caregiver to someone else or even arrangements for pets or house sitting. It's not just the deals that make this work - it's how you manage all the other life circumstances too. And as others have stated, the specialty tours for those over 55 are often good sources for bargains and experiences.
