Do you want me to make over your space? A few virtual makeover packages left! alexandragater.com/collections/virtual-makeovers/products/custom-design-packages
You missed a DOOD opportunity at 25:32. It really ties the room together, man! BUT beautiful job, as always. Ever think about making over a cabin (mine)? I don't own it yet but I will by spring.
i live in an 456 square feet apartment in The Glebe in Ottawa Ontario Canada and a bachelor i have a farmhouse dresser and a rod iron bed frame and a double bed
i would so love love LOVE if you guys would makeover a bedroom room that doesn’t have a lot of natural light!! i feel like i can speak for many people when i say that it’s so difficult to make a bedroom feel like a cozy when there’s no light coming through the window. i don’t think team AG has ever done a darker room before, so it would be a challenge, and SO helpful to so many people!!! love this makeover, it’s absolutely stunning ✨
@@drummerlovesbookworm9738 Same! I literally wake up not knowing what time of day it is. I'm always shocked when I go out in my living room and catch hints of actual sunlight lol.
For peel and stick wallpaper, all I do is put 2 staples at the very top of each corner. I hide it in the pattern and you don't even notice them (or paint the staples). That's all it takes to keep the paper up unless it's especially heavy wallpaper.
Graham is a real treasure. I think many of your best ideas would be scarey to many, and he just dives in and makes it all work! The wall paper really takes it all up a few notcher. Great choice fir the space.
There's a technique I did years ago where I bought some pretty lightweight fabric and soaked it in liquid starch, rung it out and put it up on the wall, smoothing it out with the tool like you'd use for wallpaper. When it's time to remove it you just pull on a corner and it pulls away nice and clean. All you have to do is wipe down the wall with a sponge after. Edit: I forgot to add the best fabric to use is cotton, from what I remember. From calicos to textures, just not too heavy.
Old technique used in the 60's and is great for using sheeting also...or fabric found at resale or 2nd hand stores...however the results of this makeover is the Best 😘🥰 great Collab between Alexander & Her Very 💯% crafty... Handy Man 👞♂️🥳 You guys are making studios 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🥳💗💗💗💗
Painters tape, after a month, leaves all the glue on the walls or peels the paint off. I learned the hard way after hanging some artwork on my very white walls!!
I think if a hack is new, it ought to be tried out by the design team before slapping it together. And tested for longer than a month. Or use tried and true methods and try the easy cheap ideas on the side to see if they work.
yeah, it certainly is not a long term solution. also, paper that is not glued to the wall will expand with time and get 'saggy' and it will not look neat anymore. but then again, the design of the wallpaper looks like it came from an abandoned house so it might fit the overall awful look
Love you for making over these kind of small spaces. Over and over again you show us that they also can look stylish and be functional at the same time. This one is a hit, once again. Also loved the one of his friend. Good job. Great team.
I DIY-ed my headboard and I used an inexpensive mattress topper instead of using "official" upholstery foam-- cut to size, layer if needed, cover with batting. It is a nice option when on a budget. 🙂 Loved this makeover!
I live in a 1-bedroom apartment and the bedroom is about twice this size, but I've been wanting to make half of it into a "creativity zone" so that I can get two rooms out of the one. This gave me lots of helpful ideas! Thanks!
love the design. But regarding the painters tape:The tape producer usually guarantees that u can rip it of traceless for a few days. After that, you are on your own and it very much depends on the underground. Used this before and tried to remove it 1 year later - hat to patch and repaint the wall,(but still was worth it). Since the underground looks brandnew and smooth, odds are of cause at least better than with an old or textured wall; and white is easier to patch then something coloured. What did work for me though was using a nice fabric with liquid starch instead of wallpaper.
Beautiful 💛. My mom used a king-sized comforter on our bedroom wall growing up. Everyone loved it. It was in the 70s, patchwork look with yellow shag carpet. We were stylin' baby!!
I love how you make the absolute most out of a small space ! I've said it before, but Graham is worth his weight in gold! He is a genius! Love the headboard, the bedding, the free-hangjng clothing rack, the faux cowhide rug, the drop-leaf desk, all wonderful, stylish choices! The room actually looks bigger, and cozy and comfortable too! I don't know how you do it but, once again, it's a home run! A+
Painters tape removes cleanly only for a limited time. If you're going to leave it for more than a few days, Oracal 631 removable vinyl is the best option. =) You can put it up on walls as a barrier between wallpaper or sticky tiles, or even on the floor if you want to use some of those pretty floorpop tiles!
I'm in awe and am impressed by how much larger and open the room feels post-makeover. Fitting you post this on October 1st because you gave that bedroom a much-needed reVAMP. 🧛♂️ Bad Halloween puns aside, Team AG totally crushes it in the best way once again! Lovely work. Great job, team!
Another UA-camr used “hardiboard” and applied wallpaper to that. She’s a renter and showed how easy it is to remove. Alexandra, you have such a creative mind and your team makes it a dream to make your visions into reality.
The room looks beautiful! I can see why you wanted to use that specific wallpaper. It makes the room. I love that you show the challenges you come up against and how you problem solve to fix them. Covering the blinds with those dreamy curtains is perfect.
I don't understand why you don't have well over a .million subscribers. I fell on ( not literally) on this guy with over a million subs and everything he does is brown or black!!! You are brilliant and everything you and your team touch turns into breath taking beauty. Plus, I end up watching more than once cause they make me so happy!!!!
"You can see the line, see the lineee..." lol, you guys always do a great job. Trying out the ideas is how we learn from you guys. And we can see that you made it work how it needed to!! And again, love you Graham and James And Hiiiii Alana!!! Its so good to see you feeling better!! Love all of Team AG!!💖💖💖
Graham will be having one-on-one talent and performance discussions after nailing that headboard after this. i'm sensing a super high year end bonus $$$ haha
Well done! The wall -- in spite of wall paper challenge, the mirror -- great attention to detail, the headboard and small table, all just look so good, inviting, warm and cozy.
I absolutely love your makeovers. Your ability to do so many varieties and styles is a true talent. I look forward every day to seeing a new episode! Now today I am really liking the dress you are wearing! Please share if you want where you got it. Thank you so much for being a very positive happy person also on your videos. I admire the way you tackle your project and issues that come up. God bless and keep you smiling 😊
Hey Alexandra am hooked on your programmes, designs, ideas, diys etc etc all the way from sunny Sri Lanka. I will be purchasing a one bedroom apartment and I have gathered tons of ideas. I wish Graham was in Sri Lanka...sigh. Graham is such a super compliment to you. So efficient and creative. He can have his own show. The Graham DIY Show. Stay blessed guys
Love the rich chocolate wavey custom headboard and pops of mustard in the cushion. Amazing trick with the two sized windows. I do think darker bed linen would have been better, maybe a dark beige, dark taupe etc. He didn't like that his condo looks like a white box and it still looks v white to me. Darker bedding/linen and even more wallpaper could have helped with that. Alexandra was hilarious and adorbs as always 💕
The headboard is great ❤ and I also loved the contrast between off-white and chocolate brown. Not really a fan of the open storage, but there was no other choice here. Didn't like the mirror - don't really know why, but something was off. Maybe you also need diffusing material above the LED strip? The "work space" seems so small now... And there's no place to store a laptop and office supplies now... Those could of course go under the bed now instead 😂 I think Graham needs to design a desk for small spaces like that - or any other furniture makers... 😇
I followed Christopher Lowell a lot in my 20's. One of his tricks was to use a completely cotton fabric print (no promises this will work if it isn't cotton) that he liked, and then soak it in liquid starch. Then you put it on the wall, smoothing it out until it's taut like wallpaper. It sticks and dries perfectly and you have an inexpensive but colorful type of wall paper that can be removed by just pulling it down gently. Then use a wet wash cloth on the wall, and it's like the starch was never there. You can also add things to the fabric on the wall as long as they are not heavy - so you can use one piece of fabric for the base design, and then create a border out of another. I went crazy and decorated a small bathroom with a lovely purple fabric, then created a different shade of purple border, then hot glued images printed out on photo paper to create a fairy border.
Gosh Alexandra, once again you did a fabulous job at making over this space it really doesn't look as tiny and crowded as it did when you first started, and it is so awesome that James's loves it as much as the rest of us do. I hope that the rest of your weekend is great, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😉😂🥰🤗💜💚💞👋
Team AG, please don't ever stop doing what you do! I love your work so much and watching your videos gives me the feeling of a beautiful summer holiday that I don't want to ever stop. Much love from Romania!
I recently put up an accent wall of traditional wall paper in my rental using Staflow liquid starch and it was SO easy to put up and it comes off without leaving any residue! You should look into that for any future makeovers if you don’t want the hassle of making the grids of tape!
I think I love everyyyyything except the wall paper. It feels realllly busy on that one wall with the headboard, side table, and mirror. That headboard is magic though 🤤
Can I just give a SHOUTOUT to Graham!! He does such beautiful work and makes all your dreams come true on these lovely makeovers. I'm completely bingeing on your wonderful videos from down here in Las Vegas, NV.
This is slightly darker and slightly more moody than it was, but it is not a great rendition if a true dark and moody bedroom. If, like him, that's what I'd asked for and this is what I'd received, I'd be a bit bummed about it.
Like this makeover with the dark and moody vibe (i.e., the brown in particular). Highlights IMO: Curtain rods, drop leaf table, shelves, clothing rack, bedside lamp, cushions, desk chair, and of course, the bed headboard!
I know right, in Australia I'm pretty sure you can't do any of that stuff..putting holes in walls would mean puttying them up and then you'd have to repair and repaint anyway I would think ..renters are luckier over there .
God,you have done it proud. I am so grateful for your program. I had to deal with a difficult family situation in a phone call in the middle but was able to finish it and was so blessed to be able to finish the video afterwards. In other words, one can solve problems, it may be that you have to redo, back up ,rethink but finish a task. No whinging or wringing hands will do. Thank you. That man's smile is so worth every effort you took. You cannot see it but I am smiling as tho it was my own room, too .
I love how you dressed up the window! The curtain rods at different length look perfect! They dont look out of place, I am amazed. You are my favorite designer on youtube. Simple , effective and tons of style with budget in mind.
It was cute & definitely an upgrade from what he had. The hanging rack was a lovely idea & his clothes were very elegant. The closest itself needed an Ikea hack: cubby holes & drawers on the right, 2 roll bars on the left, with shoe pull out drawers behind it all. To me, your solutions were charming & really spoke to his personality. -- In the future, this tiny sized room would have been the perfect space for your Murphy Bed/Couch hack. Then you could have painted the bed cabinet. You could have used an industrial paint, textured paint (with sand) or chalkboard paint (for meeting fun messages). Then he would have been able to do his morning meeting from the couch! Oh, & if you haven’t seen it, Home Depot has a telescope Murphy bed that looks about the size of a fireplace/Full size mattress & he could have had a yummy “date night” room during the evening.
The whole episode I thought "I don't like it, I don't like it", and then by the final reveal I was thinking "GASP! I love it!" The color palette, the mirror and the bedside table were my favorite.
I love the wallpaper hack and think that those of us who own our homes could use these strategies too! It saves time and energy when redecorating! I’m not a fan of the wallpaper used in this redo, but I’m pleased to know you can get custom paper printed! Who knew!?!?
Awesome! Love the dark and moody vibe. My only suggestion would have been to go for a foldable chair that he could more easily put out of the way when not using the desk.
Engineer Your Space has done wallpaper on panels. That worked well. James has done wonders here once again. That headboard is what I did with mine - three layers to staple.
What always surprises me about these tiny rooms and studios in Canada or the US is that you have such a tiny room, living by yourself, and yet there is always a full-size double bed. Where I live, we would usually have a twin bed or a sofa that turns into a bed at night so that you can have more space and a place to sit during the day. I only got a "real" double bed when I moved into an apartment where I could have a separate bedroom :D
This episode had me smiling and laughing like no other, I love how cute and funny your are Alexandra and its clear you and you're team are so tight 😍☺️💞 brilliant episode as ever. Your talent is so inspirational. Thank you for the joy I have watching your viddies 📺🙏🏼💞💋

Yesssss please!
This would be so helpful! All the studios with “separated sleeping space” I look at have a bed out of view of any window.
That would be great...along with plants that can survive in lowlight.
I call my apartment “The Crypt.” It’s a damn dungeon.

I think if a heat gun is used to soften the glue that would help. Also tape exposed to constant direct sunlight may behave different
The blue painters tape dose not.

Yes!! I love the moody makeovers! My boyfriend is more of the moody style and I’m not so seeing how moody can have elements of light is nice to see!
Awesome! Love the dark and moody vibe. My only suggestion would have been to go for a foldable chair that he could more easily put out of the way when not using the desk.
Love this!! More dark and moody styles please 😊
Engineer Your Space has done wallpaper on panels. That worked well. James has done wonders here once again. That headboard is what I did with mine - three layers to staple.
Well done! 👏 The headboard is INCREDIBLE!!!!! 😍😍
Gasped when i saw that moodboard omg. Been obsessed with scalloped headboards, this is the sign for me to finally diy!
Wow !! I'd like to see more of these makeovers for tiny spaces.
literally how is every make over better than the last? i want to change my apartment after watching each video 😫
That roll up tape to the ceiling hack was excellent!
Thank you for the renter-friendly hacks.
I live in a beige/white rental unit that I can’t paint, but am an extreme colour loving maximalist!

Gorgeous! I love a dark and moody vibe.
I love, love, love the high contrast in that room!
That wallpaper hack is brilliant. It looked great.
