Your new space is gorgeous!! And how lucky are you to work with a team who put so much love and care into designing your perfect apartment. Excellent work you guys - always love watching these videos week after week. Xx
Before I watch this episode, I need to share a thought… AG is an inclusive , wealth sharing, job opportunity , talent platform transformer. That sets her and the team way ahead of others in the same field. You tube should honour her!
I was just thinking the total opposite! Team AG, a lovely, talented and deserving group of people, are lacking diversity in the most obvious way. When I see this team as a POC, all I can see is that they are all white. I was hoping as they hire new people and grow that they would include more BIPOC, but am always disappointed in what I see. Its 2022, we must revaluate what our workplace looks like, what we represent, especially with a big platform. To me this screams exclusivity to inclusivity.
There are so many gorgeous elements! The only things I would change: 1. The closet doors would probably be better in a black or maybe a primary color since that is a little more post-modern and go better with the headboard. Like a deep red would've been cool or honestly a dark wood stain could've been great. The lilac seems a little random, and more of the classic AG style instead of coordinating with the rest of the space 2. Someone else mentioned freeing up the night stand and I totally agree! Having the huge lamp, book and plant there instead of a place for water/phone etc, isn't super functional.
Agree, I love the lamp but I’d place on the wall shelf opposite the bed. If no power point I’d use a smart globe. The lamp would be more of a feature there. For bedside lights I’d use Alexandra’s bedside lights. Also I’d get Graham to repaint the skirting boards (baseboards) and re silicone the bath as they look daggy! I’d paint the wardrobe doors the red in the vase painting, sort of sienna colour. Also I’d suggest banquette or bench seating along the kitchen wall for entertaining with extendable oval table and foldable extra seating stored hanging on the wall.
Based on how tiny the nightstands are, she probably needed a wall sconce or hanging lamp so as not to take up any space. She doesn’t have a single bit of drawer storage so just having any type of storage on top of the nightstands is a must.
love it!! 2 tiny details that I thought could elevate/finish the space even more! 1. Paint/stain the bed frame a darker wood tone 2. touch up paint on the baseboard next to the closet 3. Maybe move the diy lamp to the mantle so it could stand out more against the white? 😍
I love the final reveal of this make over! Beautiful work - I’m a huge fan so this is only meant to be helpful and not as a criticism. From my health and safety training as a design and resistant materials teacher (would you call that wood shop in the states/Canada?) - but blowing dust is something I’ve had to teach my students to fight the urge to do constantly! Particles/dust get into the air and can affect lungs and eyes - and if you’re all working with timbers over long periods of time you want to limit that as much as you can as they contain carcinogens! I know lots of DIYers watch your show so I wanted to say something so people can keep themselves safe! Xxx
Love how this turned out. Very smart design for such a small space. My only request, for future decorations, omit live flame candle near the headboard. It’s extremely dangerous, too close to the curtains, too. My friend had this happen in her bedroom, damages were severe.
I don't think that candle was really meant to be lit up in the first place. A lot of people use candles like that as more of a decorative sculpture rather than a candle they actually light.
I am only three months behind on my comments, so please.... OF COURSE GRAHAM should have his own store. ALESSANDRA had the perfect reaction to her beautiful bedroom. Ya'll hit it out of the ball park. Some of the best giggles and laughter ever - re: the lamp. re: the foam. Alexandra: you are so humble about your prodigious skills, talent, & your inviting personality. Within a couple of years, you'll be busting through your second million subscribers. Thanks muchly to you and your wonderful crew, for helping to fill my aloneness with so much fun & beauty. All of you be healthy, safe, and continue to light up this 78 year old woman''s life in stifling hot South Carolina. (my little wish is that the power stays on till fall gets here.) With love and appreciation, Alice
The scale of that headboard is so balancing and zen for that space. Anything smaller would feel cluttered; it’s like you needed something on a completely different scale to direct the eye and unify the room.
The headboard is without a doubt the queen of this makeover! It's a gorgeous statement. Not swapping out the functional but *very* basic pendant lamp seems like a missed opportunity.
In general a beautiful job. Love the headboard. Really love the bifold doors with cane. I'm going to do that to one of my closets. I think the "night stands" are over accessorized. They need to be functional so you need to leave more space for things one might have to put on them. The curtains in such a small space definitely do not need to puddle on the floor. No no no. In the video you can see she already tripped on them. Please incorporate function and practicality into your design.
Aye, hang the curtains as high as possible. Curtains pooling on the floor are a menace for a vacuum cleaner or broom and are a trip hazard. And they look like someone didn't measure properly. I love the vase lamp - you all find such great things to DIY.
Pooling curtains is an extremely traditional design element. I have it and my home and do not find it a menace at all. Of course in practical use the night stands may be used differently but they looked gorgeous in the final images!
Love the makeover but I always roll my eyes at curtains pooled on the floor. Unless you clean obsessively and have no furry roommates, those curtain bottoms will get incredibly dusty and dingy very quickly. And yes, also be a tripping hazard.
A tip for stretching material/cane on a frame is to secure a corner and stretch to the diagonal corner first. This results in a smoother overall surface. 😁
@@user-ed7et3pb4o it’s taken a lot to get there trust me 😅 if I had it my way, it’d be all warm colours and neutrals. If they had it their way it’d be entirely bright rainbow colours everywhere! Compromise is key 🥰
First, let me say I love this channel. I was inspired by the closet doors in this video and was able to cut and remove the slats from my slatted closet doors. The wood putty to fill the holes for me was a nightmare. Where was Graham when I needed him??? I could not get a nice smooth wood putty/sanded look....my skills were lacking. I did find a piece of odd PVC trim at Lowes that covered my holy mess. I was able to cut this trim with a box cutter and use liquid nail and brad nails in my electric staple gun to attach it to the door covering all of the holes and my poor attempt at wood putty! Doors look great. Thanks for the idea. Trim cost in US $ 5.08 for an 8ft piece. Keep the inspiration coming!
I love most of this apartment. My aesthetic would say hem the curtains because they’re not velvet, and absolutely a warmer, richer color for the closer doors. But I love the rug and headboard
This is one of your best - taking this small space and turning it into a lovely bright haven with just the right amount of interesting detail. The closet doors are not only pretty but have the surprising effect of opening up the room because they match and blend, add a gentle pretty touch, and close off clutter. I remember my first place (many many years ago) and how important it was to me. You’ve honored that feeling.
I love that you guys show the not so glamorous parts like when you were filling the vase with foam to turn it into a lamp. It could have easily have been edited out and turned into a music montage but you guys didn't. It makes the whole channel feel so genuine.
Thought this makeover was super cool and different from the others you’ve done while taking consideration of her style and AGs. I do wish some smaller details that others had addressed were done though! I really cringed when I saw the interior of the closet door and I wish you finished it off with some trim to secure the cane and trimmed the bolts for the handles so they weren’t sticking out so much
Alexandra, it is so gratifying to watch you take on the adventure of decorating a home with a style you have never done before. The butterflies you experience are worth it!
Sigh. I love the headboard, mirror, side table and DIY lamp; they match the style perfectly. But the lavender and cane doors are Alexandra's style, not the bold primary post-modern asked for. I think she struggled sometimes to not put her own style into the place - not always, but times like this where I think she kinda just did what she would do if it was her home.
I didn’t have that thought exactly, but more that the yellow undertones in the cane clashed with that lilac shade. Something with warmer tones would have also set off the blue headboard nicely. And cane can be stained too (Lone Fox did a nice video on that).

you are all so fun and sending great vibes as one watchhes the video! Only thing I was worroed about is the candle head next to the bed that was butning on top of a book - I hope the wax did not spill on the book.
I love the head board and the closet doors. The color is amazing! My mom did that when she painted in the walls in our house a light pink color. And people would come over and say, wow, the wall color is this nice shade of white. And she would tell them, no its pink. 😍
I always like how well team AG addresses small space living, however I think the closet doors would look more professional if the cane had been edged on the inside of the door instead of leaving the staples showing.
Vuestro talento es evidente pero que tengáis ese buen ambiente entre vosotros es todo un éxito. Veros trabajar y disfrutar al mismo tiempo es maravilloso. Enhorabuena equipo 🤍🤍🤍
Great design! My kids call those wavy mirrors “bacon mirrors.” I bought them in 2012 or 13 when I was making over their bedroom, because they always got so excited when they saw the bacon mirrors at ikea.

@@lindaroyal8161 I agree, a floor lamp on one side or matching pendants would have been nice.

I was so surprised they didn’t stain the frame to match the little side tables. You’re right those little details would have been so good! 😊
I agree about the baseboard . It looks awful. The rest of the job was great!
Yes I wish they would have stained the bed frame to match the wood side tables on the headboard.
Also, although unrelated to the bedroom makeover, somebody needs to take care of that moldy caulk around the bathtub 🤢.
Or paint the base of lamp, i think the bed frame matches the cane

imo the wood on the vase lamp makes it look more finished. It's such a cute touch.

haha definitely! honestly if I had a candle that pretty I'd never light it anyway lol
And I'd never put a plant on top of a book unless it was a fake plant.
The wood connector is actually a nice touch for the vase lamp aesthetically:)

ive been binging literally all AG videos,, when i saw "52 minutes ago" i got so excited even though i haven't even started watching the video lmao
I love the head board and the closet doors. The color is amazing! My mom did that when she painted in the walls in our house a light pink color. And people would come over and say, wow, the wall color is this nice shade of white. And she would tell them, no its pink. 😍
Graham merch shop pleaseee!! ❤️ 🙌🏽
I always like how well team AG addresses small space living, however I think the closet doors would look more professional if the cane had been edged on the inside of the door instead of leaving the staples showing.
Love the picture of you all in the squiggle mirror. ❤😊
You added Bacon Mirrors!!! :-D Glad she loved the space and Alexandra, I am sure Danie is proud of you for picking up the power tools!
Vuestro talento es evidente pero que tengáis ese buen ambiente entre vosotros es todo un éxito. Veros trabajar y disfrutar al mismo tiempo es maravilloso. Enhorabuena equipo 🤍🤍🤍
You finally got to use your purpley gray!!! Love this!! Its fun to see you all step outside of your comfort aesthetic!
Everyone loves his smirk! Your guy-coworker is insanely handsome. Gives me all the Cillian Murphy vibes
Aww! I love her reaction!!
The bed and headboard are floating like she lives on a luxury ship somewhere in the Asian Pacific - it's beautiful as it everthing in the room.
The lamp is my absolute favorite part of this makeover!!!! 😍
You say, “are you guys ready?” And I give you a thumbs up and smile because I know it’s gonna be good. Wish you were close to Nashville TN.
This room turned out so beautiful. I adore that headboard. Also, the caning on the doors made such a difference. I love your channel.
Love it. The only thing that I noticed is that the dark lamp base kind of gets lost against the dark blue headboard.
Wow looks beautiful!!! Her reaction at the end was priceless! Safe to say she loved it 🥰 you guys did an amazing makeover
Great design! My kids call those wavy mirrors “bacon mirrors.” I bought them in 2012 or 13 when I was making over their bedroom, because they always got so excited when they saw the bacon mirrors at ikea.
Graham is a gem and great addition to your team.
