another fantastic edit Pete. So interesting to see your perspective on this. Thanks for bearing with me and cheering me on. I'd love to see you try something like this with someone who is of moderate fitness but has never put climbing shoes on ever. I wonder how they'd fair!?
Cheers again!
Epic climb, my man!
Well done! Love how mentally strong you are👊
Big respect Mike! Very well done! 👏
Amazing effort Mike, absolutely smashed it.
Congratulations Mike! I would consider myself stronger and more experienced, but dunno If I would have managed this climb. You got my deepest respect! Cheers mate :)
you did so great man, congrats!
These have been some of my favourite recent climbing videos I've seen. You've done an excellent job at capturing the fear, excitement and payoff. Psyched for Mike, what a warrior!
Mumbo follows climbing content!? This makes me unreasonably happy lol
Mumbo watching Pete, UA-cam is amazing 😍
Should we be expecting you next then haha?
I would love to see this crossover!
Huh, did not expect this
I love how climbing videos can make you go from not knowing somebody to screaming at the screen "You ca do it man!" That was truly impressive by Mike. What a freakin legend
Second this! Well done Mike! Honestly, chimneys are the most rewarding climbs for me. You feel out of your comfort zone, but weirdly safe and three dimensional. Big ups to all who made this video! 👏 🤙
Wheen you are struggling on a climb and you get your friends cheering you On , you just try to get another move in , until... you get a Jug on the top, that's a VERY satisfying feeling.
Super impressive for Mike to push through the nerves and finish out the climb. Props to Kieran the cameraman for encouraging him when he didn't believe in himself and props to Mike for never quitting.
This series has also given me a greater appreciation for how experienced athletes like Toby are able to maintain their cool and avoid negative self-talk, even in new and stressful situations.
Thanks a lot! I used to work as a climbing instructor so it's not my first mid-climb pep talk... just didn't expect to be doing it 200m up in Norway 😅That said, I've never worked with anybody as tenacious as Mike, it was genuinely inspiring to witness. I've got my own BTS edit coming out tomorrow if you'd like to hear my thoughts on all that sort of stuff!
You did brilliant mate. Looking forward to the BTS edit!
Man, I don't know if it's just because I was up there with you guys but this video is absolutely one of my favourites. Mike is such a hero. Great work Pete, you managed to distil an epic adventure into the perfect edit... it tells the whole story really well. What an honour to be part of it! I can't wait to share my perspective in the BTS video tomorrow, we gotta milk that "Mike Boyd crying" clip as much we can 😉
Great job on the camerawork!! Hard work paid off 👍
Awesome work
Thanks Kieran 💪
Thanks Kieran 💪
Awesome words of encouragement Kieran - hearing how happy you were when Mike made it was genuinely touching, you were really there for him and Mike gave it his all as a result
It's really cool how he managed to progress so far in just 5 days.
1.5 years climbing experience, with most of that from indoor bouldering.
Of the few sport climbs I have done, I can say that they have been incredibly rewarding, possibly the most satisfying athletic achievements I have ever done.
I feel the emotions Mike was feeling, but he's completed something on an entirely different level than me, so I can only imagine how strong those emotions really are. I can't wait to be able to achieve something like this in the next few years.
Big ups Mike, amazing effort and to Pete for taking another person into the world of trad and crack climbing.
Another fantastic video!!!
Pete, this mini-series was bloody fantastic. So cool to see Mike on the channel - a brilliant collab. If Mike had done this with anyone else, I don’t think he’d have made it. Pete’s got to be one of the most motivational, enthusiastic, and positive people out there, while being friendly and down to earth - everything Mike needing to support his effort to the top.
Mega.
I was super happy when Mike started climbing. Him making it this far is so awesomely satisfying! This has to be one of my favorite UA-cam channel crossovers.
Mike gave it his all and crushed it. Really inspiring stuff.
8:17 "I'm glad I figured that out now" made me smile. 9:16 What a beautiful pitch.
This is the content the world needs. Takes me back 30 years when I learned to climb at the roaches, leading then went to Chamonix and spent 3 weeks being scared out of my mind.
Mike, if you read this: I have endless amount of respect for you! You did awesome.
Super inspiring! Trad seems horrifying. I would love to be able to overcome that fear, just like Mike
Well done to Mike! Absolutely smashed it!
This is so encouraging, I have never roped climbed before, I’m 37 and really want to climb el cap for my 40th (the easiest route haha) i am really doubting if i can get there in 3 years but seeing mike do this in 5 days has really encouraged me to
you can do it!!!! one day at a time working at it even if that means just thinking about it!
I love the emotion, this is exactly what climbing is doing with all of us. soo psyched!!!
Absolutely amazing, Mike is such a legend. It’s crazy that having watched both of your channels separately, this is a collab I never saw coming but am so stoked to see what came to fruition from it
I love the climbing videos, I myself am getting into climbing so its nice to see the progress with a fellow new starter, great luck and great job on the giant wall !
The drone repel shot is absolutely BONKERS. Good work on this one. So good
My two random suggestions for who should be next:
Xyla Foxlin - An engineering/maker youtuber who I believe has done a fair bit of climbing though maybe not any big wall trad?
Todd Sampson - A documentary maker, tv presenter, and generally outdoorsy person (having summited Everest among other things, but I don't believe having done much rock climbing)
I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the tenacity and balls on Mike! Surprised the weight of those boys didn't ground him from the word go. I've been 99.99% indoor climbing and now I want to do this. I've always watched climbers doing 5.11+++ and seeing this I know there are great adventures to be had at more moderate grades... WAIT... what is the route and grade? Christ, this could be a 5.12 trad LOL
He absolutely smashed it, incredible! It's really cool to see how quickly even a beginner and non-athlete can progress given the right resources and support.
That was a great watch, been following Mike's channel for a long time so was very happy when this popped up in my feed!
Mike always gives it his all, they forgot to put the quit in him!
I'm just at the very beginning of my rockclimbing experience, as I've booked a indoor tuition for this Saturday going. Looking to learn the techniques in there before joining and club and moving onto doing it outside, I'm honestly so excited to get into the sport and also I'm not the biggest fan of heights so hoping to conquer that at the same time!
I must say watching this has given me confidence to be able to just tackle an indoor climb and what determination that guy had to complete the climb. Absolutely brilliant watch and hats off to him and to you for your incredible teaching skills getting him from the wall to tackling that monster in 5days!! Incredible!
Your channel is amazing and so professionally done you deserve so much more credit and subscribers! I've subbed and looking forward to watching your channel grow at the same time my rock climbing experience grows! Good job to all of you!
Well done Mike! Excellent teaching Pete!
Great video! What's the route called? Missed it...
this really reminded me that climbing still is an extreme sport, i do forget that sometimes when watching the pros
Cameraman was the MVP. Coaching mike all along the way.
this sport is just so cool man seeing mike finish that after being so unsure going into it was so inspiring i love these teaching trad videos
Which route is this in Norway? Looks beautiful and great climbing! Looks like a destination.
Would be awesome seeing Shawn Raboutou on a Wide Boyz epic.
He did say he would love to try it.
What a great video! Made my day…so good! Great work Pete, huge congrats Mike!!
@11:06 Pete, did you let go of the belay rope before he was secured to the anchor 😮?
Wow... nothing else to say really. Incredible cinematography, and an amazing effort from you all!
Little by little pitch by pitch.. Fantastic video guys and huge congrats to Mike!
It probably wouldn't be much of a challenge for magnus, but it would be a nice video seeing you and magnus just chilling on the wall.
And it's not like he's the best at cracks
Great video as ever. Out of interest, what is the name and grade of the route?
Badass, Mike. That shot on the Abseil at the end was epic as well.
My hands were sweating just watching this. Amazing video!
What a beast. That was so good, it got me emotional ^^
I've been climbing 40 years and I'm really impressed with Mike
Brilliant film . Kudos to Mike 💪
Yes Mike. Yes.
What a story! I was creeped at the end! Absolutely insane job
Hi 5:38 new updated version of the size 4 of wildcountry !
Strange but True- the day this video released, I actually bumped into Mike at my local indoor climbing centre!
Another Wide Boyz Classic.
Fantastic climbing Mike! (And fantastic teaching Pete!)
Oswaldo from Rockentry would be great to see!
Awsome video, really impressive how much Mike improved in just five days.
What's the name of the route? Is it comfortably numb?
I can only imagine how awesome it would be to get to climb with you guys. Always a good time to see one of your videos!
I’ve been climbing now for couple years and this summer we went climbing outdoors in Norway, but it was nothing like this! I would sooooo want to do that climb !
The shot at 16:51 is CRAZY! I am crazy afraid of heights, but I would love to either experience it, or be able to once do this.
Well f**king done! Super strong effort Mike!
Absolutely brilliant. Well done Mike. Smashed it.
I think get a bike rider up there next Pete.
Sam Pilgrim or Matt Jones maybe 😊👍
Love this video so much it’s genuine and fun congratulations on making it all the way to the top battling through everything 🎉🎉
Can I be next? Seriously epic climb, Mike did amazing, his video was inspiring, hearing him overcoming his struggles was incredible. Pete´s being such a great mentor!
wow what an incredible video. Genuinely moved by the story..
'pitch 1 was a little damp' - haha, well said 🌊
Fankly speaking: It should be ME next. I'm so jealous... ;)
does anybody know what route they climbed? did I just miss that?
Man this makes me so exited, i really need to learn to trad so I can do some big walls.
Very well done!!
Didn’t even know what bridging is… that is mental!
absolutely grand stuff lads!
Good on you Mike.
Having watched Mike's video as well he definitely better conveyed how scared he was!
Brillaint stuff, massive well done to Mike.
Pete you should see if you can get a subscriber trad climbing next! 😎
To the question, who should be next ? I would love it to be me 😁 The route looks unbelievably awesome !!! Nice job guys, keep up the great work. Love the vids and the team. Cheers !
Take me with you next! Would dearly love to learn trad, never even touched the style though I boulder and sport climb a bit
Chapeau. You did it. Great performance, You can be proud to yourself.
Loved the video! Thanks for the great content
Great effort! Well done!
Have you considered geoguesser for a collab? You'll appreciate how determined he is. (I'm sure the storror boys could tell you all about it.) And I think a geoguesser wide boys straight line challenge could be ABSOLUTELY EPIC! It would redefine what a truly 'classic' route could be.
Best crossover!
You should see if Anton Fomenko would be available to try this.
I'd watch the heck out of that!
Great content as always. Whats the name of the route and wall?
That looks a really impressive climb- even for experienced trad climbers! Well done getting up that 😀
this route looks really cool, where is it and whats it called? sorry if i missed it from the video
the face of pure terror at 15:59 killed me
Honestly so amazing to watch. Well done!
Anyone know what the English trad grades of the route would be?
Have you ever tried "Etat de choc" in the Alps? Looks like a nice off-width
were'd you get the music for this viedo? it was really fitting, great choices
Full rack, a big backpack and 3 ropes drag! That's impressive Pete
The tears at the top is what it’s all about!!!!
Amazing effort! 🙌🙌
Only part way in but how big is Pete’s backpack? It looks awkward and bulky and I wonder if he’ll haul it for the chimneys at the top
Mike has successfully evolved to Wide Boyd
love your videos guys. suggestion, put mikes name in the title, ik its a little clout chasey but it would most likely have a large affect on click through rate since its not just any "beginner climber".
I loved that! What the name of the climb?
Damn, I wish I could join Pete on an adventure like this. If he ever runs out of people to do this with, I'd be so ready to jump in at a moments notice.
Does anybody know where exactly this wall ist locatet?
I would love to go there someday.
Greatings from the Elbe sandstone Mountains.
great video. thankyou
Let's go Mike!
how do you get the tip of the rope down after you descend the first pitch?
Holy smokes that was epic!
Loen Norway? Super interested in the route.
