Can you use this on non Bachmann Locomotives? I have some old Atherns. Finding it difficult to figure out what I should buy for dcc on my Atherns.. might be nice just to have controllable sounds.
Bachmann sells EZ-App circuit boards for $55. Many people are moving to SoundTraxx Blunamis. estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=722
I used a car hands free device and took it apart removed all the bits I wouldn't need and made a custom carriage kit around it so that it would fit nicely I moved the charging port and glued it so that it points out of bottom. I only use this for whistles horns and wheel slip noises as I have a separate unit for chuff and engine noise. works very well all you need is a Bluetooth enabled device that can store mp3 files and its done you can have as many sounds as you want.
That is so cool and a great idea! As soon as I get a train board set up, I will have to do this! It sounds as good as having it installed in the engine that costs over $100.
Less is more - and that's the MOST I've gotten from ANYTHING in a long while. Awesome with awesome sauce and a side of awesome to go. Thank you soooo much for sharing...
This video is from the older “EZ App” generation product. This function still works if you use the “EZ App” by Bachmann to run your train. BlueRail has moved to onboard sound with Blunami.
My experience is that the E-Z APP only works if you have powered a Bachmann engine on the track. It would be a real money maker for Blue Rail if they circumvented Bachman and made it workable with any gauge.
sorry to be so late with this but just saw it. so is the sound coming from the bluerail app on the phone? one still has to buy the bluerail receiver right and connect it? so all you are doing is adding an easy speaker?
To clarify, this video applies to Bachmann E-Z App trains and the original BlueRail board from 2016. The new 2021 BlueRail boards are used in conjunction with any DCC sound decoder. Those can be found here: deadrailinstalls.com/blue-rail/
Newbie here. Does this only work for the paid version of the app? Not getting anything to work for free app. Also is this assuming one has a blue rail engine with sound system? Thanks
But *all* the sound from your smart phone will be piped through that speaker, correct? What is you want sound in multiple locos? Better than nothing, I guess, but not a desirable solution. Can't the BlueRail board send sound directly to a speaker or a sound board that can?
I have a Kato soundbox and connected a Bluetooth transmitter for a mini Bluetooth speaker, then I fit it inside of the first freight car behind the locomotive
When I first saw a video of BlueRail, and realized that the sound was coming from the smart phone, I knew sound was going to be the Achilles heel of the product. This does not improve matters much. Plus, you have to regularly take the car apart to recharge it? No thanks.
It is the BlueRail Trains app. This Bluetooth speaker can be used with Bachmann EZ App locos. The new BlueRailDCC boards allow you to control any DCC sound decoder.
....but the sound is not inside the loco, so you have to drag the thing around behind all the time. This is an old solution that never was very attractive.

Anything to help us who can't afford the big DCC. Thank you for the great idea!

FAN-TAS-TIC! Great idea!!!! Way to go, Dave!
Have you since found a speaker that can fit an N scale freight car?
OK so your saying this Blue Rail Train app will connect to any Bluetooth speaker to get sound?

This would be great to use for any model besides EZ App trains...if the Bachmann app would just connect to a wifi speaker with out having the ez app.
so, is that a wowee groove cube?

Can the speaker be wired to track power for steady use? Can the speaker be used for music, too
what Bluetooth speaker did u use!

Nice vintage TYCO Santa Fe caboose!
But maybe I'll try that someday...

How does it sync with the app?
What speaker are you using?
If you google "micro bluetooth speaker" you can find options.
Excellent!!!!!! Good demo!!!!!! Take care, Joe.
I can't find this speaker. Came across one on Amazon. Pred Technologies P3001 $9.99

Is that a 4x6 layout?? Nice
Thanks for sharing! I plan to purchase one of those speakers for a similar idea.
Could I put I locomotive my layout is modern and there no life stock today

Where did you fine a speaker that fits in n scale rolling stock?
the app does not work if you don’t have the trains that can connect with Bluetooth
Correct. You have to have a BlueRail or EZ App train to use the app.
great video you could use these at parts of the layout as countryside sounds or so :) thanks for the ideas
Does anyone have a link to the speaker
Hi what app were you using here for the sounds please?
That’s what I want to know aswell
Can anyone tell me the app that is being used ??
It is the BlueRail Trains app. This Bluetooth speaker can be used with Bachmann EZ App locos. The new BlueRailDCC boards allow you to control any DCC sound decoder.
Well done sir great job i like!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Wow thanks. Awesome idea!
Per the guys at Blue rail this no longer is functional... You are forced to get a decoder and speaker
I don't get it.
I'm Sold, Thank-You so much for Saving Me a Lot of Money, Technology is So Much Fun!!!!!!!!
Will there be on board sound available anytime soon
That's a good question it sucks they never answered it.
Amazing
can u use this little speaker for or sync with your chuffing app??
Many people use mini bluetooth speakers on their trains for all sounds.
sir!
what app u use on android phone?
The BlueRail Trains app is available for free in the Google Play store.
@@BlueRailTrains will this work on all trains and DC?
@@BlueRailTrains all so where do i get the sounds from is there a app for this all so cheers rob

Put it in a dummy loco and drag that instead...
