      Thanks for the support Craig. Just curious, what would you need in the plans to actually go and build this yourself? Do you need dimensions of all of the panels and 4x4 pieces for the table? Or are you looking for step by step instructions on how to put it together?

    • @craigwesson1788

      @@EigenDesigns I guess to build your set up, you would just need measurements. It’s always nice to refer to a drawing as well, like in sketch up. Usually I don’t follow things exactly but good to refer to the basic drawing and measurements and add your own touch . Once you figure out what size your table top has to be you can go from there. Some have ordered the x50 which I think is much wider.
      If you were able to get plans made and sell them you might have your sawstop sooner 😊
      I see lots of guys/ gals sell plans on there Etsy store etc.
      Check out shop nation (UA-cam ) He’s put some good plans out there. I’ve built my work bench from his plans.

    How the drawers slides doing with all the dust inside the enclosure?

    • @EigenDesigns
      @EigenDesigns  3 роки тому

      Thankfully, dust really doesn't get into the drawer slides. Because of the way the rails are attached and the protection of the "c" shaped channel provides, there hasn't been any accumulation in the slides.

  • @ProjectAnubisUSA

    This looks like all my iterations as well but without the queen bee pro Cnc 😂. I’m never satisfied with any of the designs, each have a flaw that I fix in another version. I’m on revision 7 I believe but I’m also keeping the mindset of using the bottom for quiet dust extraction with proper ventilation designed into a maze of MDF to quiet the sound before reaching outside. I’ve also incorporated MDF as internal sound dampening hopefully. I’m over engineering this project I know but just like tools get the best you can afford (or design). Oh by the way your model had the piano hinge on the wrong side. Good information on the enclosure!

      @@EigenDesigns Well I would definitely go as big as possible that the budget allows. Since I will be running multiple machines I will try to go with a 4" hose. To start I will use a shop vac for the CNC (underneath I'm designing a enclosure for sound dapening) and connect it to the different machines as needed. I want to run a cyclone separator in my setup so a larger setup will be nice so to prevent any air drop-off I will need to go bigger. If you plan to use it for the CNC only then the vacuum will be close enough that the smaller setup will be sufficient. If you plan to run a hose a long distance due to multiple hookups with no intent to disconnect and reconnect; a larger setup is a must. Also, for certain machines a larger dust collection is needed to prevent chip clogging like on a straight blade planer. Check out these channels that helped me make sense of it:

    Now that you've lived with this for a while, do you find that the benefits of the side windows were worth it (assuming windows do not reduce noise as much as solid plywood)?

    • @EigenDesigns
      @EigenDesigns  2 роки тому +1

      That's a good question. They don't often get used (except for a guest in my shop or my 3 year old getting curious) so it certainly is something that could removed from the design. It would also save quite a bit of money on the design since you wouldn't have to buy plexiglass. I am not sure how much more noise dampening you would get with just wood vs. plexiglass so I can't comment on that. For my setup, the dust collection is where the majority of my noise comes from.
      For me personally, I would still install them if I were building this today because my CNC enclosure is on of the main focal points of my shop and I think the windows make it look better.

      Hey Dale! Most builds I see use a 2.5" hose (or smaller) for a CNC of this size. It's a pretty even split whether people used shop vacs or actual dust collection systems, but I don't see many folks running 4" all the way to the dust collection boot. I have a 4" line coming from my Delta dust collector, but step down to 2.5" for the final stretch to my dust boot. If you look at 9:12 in the video you can see where I use the blast gate to do the step down from 4" to 2.5".

    • @EigenDesigns
      @EigenDesigns  3 роки тому +1

      You are right about the noise. I still wear hearing protection any time my dust collector is on so it doesn't solve that problem. It does cut down on the noise from the router, which can be much louder than the dust collection, depending on what you are cutting and how aggressive you are being.
      But aside from noise, I wanted the ability to isolate the router + CNC while it was in use. I have a 3 year old who is naturally curious and I wouldn't want him to be able to reach up there while the machine was in use. The enclosure is one way of "engineering out" some of risk with the CNC. As a father I am just not sure I could ever forgive myself if something like that were to ever happen.

      Thanks for the support, Bill. It's funny how Mitz and I landed on a similar design after months of design iterations. I think it was the most efficient/practical design for the space that I had.
      Btw, Mitz is awesome. If I can be referenced in the same sentence as him then I am flattered.
