You are killing me! No one knows about Valtellina wines which is what keeps them somewhat affordable. It’s so nice to have this little secret. Let the masses drive up the Barolo and Barbaresco prices and let me keep my little affordable region to myself. Coincidentally, I had a bottle of Rainoldi Inferno just last night. Stellar!
There's plenty of great Nebbiolo Rosé out there - no doubt about it - although it's a relatively new style and producers, New World and Old World alike are still experimenting with it as a serious contender amongst more established Rosé styles.
@@BrenCarter_WFTP So dope getting to meet you man!! Wish I could've kept grilling you about wine hahaha, hope you enjoy the rest of your time in the states! =D
Love this! Found the G.D. Varja and Sandro Fay to order to try, and love Produttori since before! Great that you show the wine lables and not just say the names 🙏🏼. If you want to facilitate even one more step writing it out in the description would be sprinkles on top☀️ Msny thanks for stellar videos!
Does the amaro/bitter herbs come in part from the Slavonian oak? It is a component often less prominant in Ozzy Nebbs. Fletcher hits this element with his Victorian Nebb and I assume he has access to good (big) Oak
We actually see it a tonne in Australian Nebbiolo! Especially from slightly warmer places. I don't feel it's from Slavonian Oak - more so canopy management and shading in the vineyard. PS: Fletcher is a KING!
Nice tips! I wil try chiavennasca. I am glad I found your channel. One note, I think a channel called "wine for the people" should focus more on good value wines. I wonder if you will ever be able to try white wines from Moravia, Czechia.
I have a bit of love and hate relationship with nebbiolo. I tasted quite a few and met often a lot of alcohol and a hefty amount of tannin. The better ones - mostly balanced Barolo and Barbaresco - can be quite complex though. Still not a big fan. Sangiovese is where it's at for me.
I was under the impression that it is not Slovenian Oak but rather Slavonian Oak. There is a big difference. Two different countries. Typically Piedmont wines are aged in Slavonian Oak. Never heard of Slovenian Oak. Cheers.
Confusingly - Slavonian Oak, is sold as Slovenian Oak in Australia. Which probably perpetuates even more confusion! Appreciate you picking up on this! It is most certainly Slavonian Oak!!!

The secret's out! Maybe we need a secret handshake for Valtellina wine lovers now!
Awesome vid mate
Thanks so much!
What about rose?

Mate! This was fantastic, seriously like these videos. Cheers 🥂
Aw shucks! Thanks so much!
Super video! Thanks
You rock! Thank YOU!
This is awesome guys! Love the deep dive
Thanks so much!
Top! Thx!
Cheers!
Great overview. I'm curious about their ageing potential compared to other varieties.
yep, the two things i'm always searching for is information on aging potential and food pairings
Nebbiolo has very good ageing potential, due to usually high tannins and acidity.
@@Pappagiotto That's great feedback! Thanks! We'll be sure to include that in future vids!
HUGE ageing potential - easily 15+ years in the cellar, and in some instances, longer than 30+!
NEBBIOLO for the win !!
Y33T!
BRENDO! I'll see you tomorrow at Bar Pallino :D
Hell yeah! Let's GO!!!!!

Oh fantastic! Let us know how you enjoyed them! And cheers for the feedback! Great note!
good stuff
Thank you!
How about some of the Aussie Nebs😊
They're yet to reach the heights of those mentioned (IMHO) - BUT - perhaps a 'New World Nebb' vid?
Have you tried the Adelina neb, sadly now collectors item as vineyard torched in bushfires but beautiful, delicate with years in front of it😍😍
@@rhysmorgan4976 LOVE that wine! Was one of the inspirations for us to make our own Nebbiolo at Unico!
My other favourite is the Nebbiolo from Pizzini’s in the King valley but does Need age🤗

That's a pretty fair call! Thanks for chiming in and for the support! What would you consider to be good value?

Sangiovese ROCKS! Although aged Nebbiolo is something to behold!
Great video, just really have to work on the pronunciation of Chiavennasca.
Thanks for the tip! Appreciate it :)

@@BrenCarter_WFTP Weird, didn't know that. Apparently it's not just the toilets that flush backwards down under. 🙃
@@cvmarel bahaha oh we're WAY more backwards than most people know!
The name comes from the foggy skins.
That's the first I've ever heard of that!
barbacan is DELISH!
100% We love them!
Well you certainly are controversial. Looking forward to the tasting 😅
Haha! Brendan's version of controversial!
