I'm starting to notice how literally evey year Belgium has a genuinly good song and theyve been going strong with the same spirit
and they haven't qualified in 2 years even tho they deserved it
I've done some digging and it turns out Belgium is actually a musical powerhouse. Relying on smaller budgets has forced them to blur the lines of known genres and turn to real talent and small projects instead.

This is what I expected from Hooverphonic: quality, class and elegance.
Loved Hooverphonic since discovering them years ago by chance when I heard the amazing song Mad About You.
I would put Release me in the same catergory as it.
Superb band. Too cultured , distinguished , sophisticated and talented for Eurovision.
This is an example of pure quality and emotion. If Eurovision would only be about music, this song deserves to win. Congratulations Hooverphonic, this song is magic and goes with an adorable voice. I wish you good luck.

too much repetition, plus the group can do way more than this.
For me personally it is perfect. I thought Norway would be at my top for a while but Belgium again blew it out of the water for me. As long as the staging/performance/outfits are much better than in 2018/2019 they should qualify for sure.

In a world full of autotunes, this kind a song full of real instruments is like magic.
Most of what you're likely referring to isn't AutoTune, but other pitch shifting programs. That being said, this has it too, just not in the way you've come to think of when you hear the term. That's not to take away from the song, a good producer can take you from good to great.

Eurovision will never recognise who the true gems are. It's sad but that's the thing. Art is not for everyone.

Apart from the fact that there's no "Eurovision", there are people who vote and juries. I would love to see more genre diversity at Eurovision, it shouldn't be conceived as generic pop song contest.

I hope the staging will be bang on. A song like this needs an orchestra. Create one with hologram-like images, maybe create an orchestra of people you've lost during the performance. Make it visually memorable.

I know Hooverphonic for years ("Anger never dies", "Harmless shapes"), only the singer was someone else. The style has not changed. This deepnes is TOO AMBITIOUS for Eurovision.

Hooverphonic wants to participate next year, but with another song because he thinks it will be boring if the song is released 1 year ago. But the thing is... Belgium has Dutch speaking and french speaking broadcasters switching every year. Hooverphonic was chosen by the Dutch speaking broadcaster and next year it's the turn of the french one, so we don't know what the french broadcaster wants... keep hooverphonic or choose someone else. It's up to them :/

Actualy it did. I attended their concert on March 7 2020 a few days before the first lockdown (March-May) and this song was performed live. I realy liked this one. I prefered it over that of this year (and I'm not saying this because of the result)

I find this song absolutely stunning. It's sophisticated, subtle, emotional but sober and the same time. It's not "Fai Rumore" (my favourite this year), it's not a bomb of feelings, but it has a charm that you don't see on ESC usually. I think it's valid not to feel a song, and nobody it's better than the other for that, but I really appreciate this song.
It's very beautiful and reaches my heart in a very special way.

I lost my dad the 23rd of March. He had a long fight against bacterias he got because of the the medicine against cancer. His body was distroyed, hè also got several pneumonias and brain infarctions. We had to “release” him and say goodbye. Hardest thing i have ever done.

One of the best songs this year. Finally a song with influences from a great band. This one seems to be inspired in Portishead. The jazz vibe, the guitars, the orchestra in the background and the soft beat of the drums give it a very Portishead look wich is a band that I love.
Her hypnotic voice make us dream.
