Compared to John.. Connors was a Zero.. John was a genius.. And even if did play with the current generation he could still win Wimbledon for sure.. Connors would have been thulped by even an above 100 player of today.. That's the difference in the skills set John possessed..

@@manoalex6575 Talkin absolute nonsense! Many times Mcenroe could not cope with Connors fighting spirit! He beat him at wimbledon and beat in 2 queens club finals also in masters finals! To hit the ball so flat with so little room for error shows great artistry! He still holds the record for most singles titles at 109. Connors played year round not just Grand Slams. He loved Tennis more than money and really taxed his body playing so many events. These days the top players save themselves for Grand Slam events for the money. Save your sympathy bro. He is and will always be one of the greats of all time, regardless of your little GS carve out.

Jimmy Connors defeating John McEnroe in the epic 1982 Wimbledon Final was the biggest upset in tennis I ever saw. I'm not taking anything away from the great Jimmy Connors but in 1982 John McEnroe was clearly the best tennis player in the world and grass was his best surface. Jimmy Connors performed one of the greatest miracles in tennis history by defeating John McEnroe in the fourth set tie breaker and then going on to win the fifth set. I think this match is very underrated.

The Wimbledon surface in those days was a lot faster so serve and volley was still a viable way to win a match and the points were therefore shorter hence less sweating. Plus I can’t see any shadows so maybe it wasn’t a hot day.
Then they made the surface slower to accommodate the European clay courters, and then racket/string technology changed which enable huge topspin which made it harder to volley so longer baseline exchanges became more common. Add to that the fitness of the modern player who runs for everything and the game is now more dynamic although I do miss the serve and volley routines.

I remember watching this as a teenager, will never forget it as long as I live, it was the first full tennis match I ever watched and I was hooked. • @goldwolf0606

Bob Dobalina 2 handed cheaters? More like 2 handed Beasts. The only guy that has the roid rage is Novak but he’s passed all his sample testing. No one of importance is a cheater. The matches today are way more exciting. As I watched this Connors McEnroe match, I was bored as hell. There was like only 1 good rally. They didn’t even serve well. These guys would get crushed be Roger and Rafa. Like literally CRUSHED. They do NOTHING better than Roger and Rafa.
