  • Join us for our "Epic Organ Adventure" (filmed over 23 days in September) as we travel to wonderful pipe organs in the UK, Sweden, and France! We start off (where Jonathan's organ playing began) at St Mary's Church, Failsworth, and then travel to Ludlow Parish Church for an "Out of this World Concert"! We are then off on an Organ & Piano adventure, first to Eye Parish Church, Suffolk and then to he East Sussex National to visit the largest Wurlitzer in Europe! After a dash back to the Bridgewater Hall we travel to Stockholm, Sweden to play for OrganSpace (Stockholm International Organ Festival) at Konserthuset Stockholm! Finally (almost) we travel to Evreux Cathedral to perform on the Pascal Quoirin Organ before travelling back to the UK for an organ concert at Huddersfield Town Hall!!!! Can Tom conquer the tower? How do you get to the Organ at Evreux? Will the Gorilla come to the concert? Find out the answers to these questions and much much more in an epic Scott Brothers Duo "On Tour"! We hope you enjoy watching our musical travel vlog! Jonathan & Tom

      It is a 12th century cathedral and with a narrow but long nave that presented problems and Atelier Pascal Quoirin describes the problems he faced when tasked with building a new organ as following;
"This musical conception of the organ attempts first and foremost to build a coherent work, in perfect adequacy with its own architecture and its integration in the narrow Gothic nave of the Cathedral (only 7 meters wide).
The length of this nave, acts as a kind of sound tunnel, resulting in a transept and a choir of the same length, but the vaults of which, higher, are surmounted by a lantern tower which is a terrible sound trap.
This very particular architectural configuration thus brought us to imagine an organ case which can throw effectively the sound as far as possible. It is what justifies the presence of shutters acting as megaphone and abat-sons crowning the Grand-Organ and the "positif de dos".
When the organ is not in use those vertical shutters close and the organ is seen as a large silver/white cylinder,

The climb up to that organ loft in France definitely ranks (get it? organ humor!) among the scariest!

The organ that has amazed me most was that of St. Mary's in Failsworth, where you were baptized.
The most elegant organ of Ludlow Parish Church.
The one that impressed me the most was the East Sussex National...
It's wonderful to see you play together. It's obvious that you enjoy it and that comes to us, your followers. It is also very nice that we can participate in seeing you in your musical adventures. This is how we can get to know you a little more.
This has really been a very epic vlog, congratulations to both of you and thank you very much for giving us these fun and instructive moments!! ❤💖🤗😘

If variety is the spice of life, you have it in spades! So many completely different instruments and venues in almost no time at all with miles and miles of travel in between. I wish I had some of your energy and stamina! Plenty of that needed just to get to the organ in Evreux, which must bring early retirement to regular organists there 😂

Synesthesia. Sounds that create colors. What does this music taste like? I'm constantly surprised by what the two brothers have to offer. It's somehow addictive. Please don't wake me from my musical and colorful dreams.

Simply stunning ... In particular your way of presenting some gems of your native organ landscape that none of us on the "continent" would otherwise ever have taken notice of ... Thank you for adding this precious dimension to our perception of organ in a very, very british way!

I really enjoy these wonderful tours you give us. To see the magnificent churches and concert halls you visit. You both get the atmospherics spot on. I really feel I am there with you. This is itself a fantastic skill. The organs are so incredible, powerful and complex instruments. I am enthralled by these videos. You need to be fit to get to some of the Consoles and unafraid of heights. Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us. The pleasure you give is unlimited. James.

The word you may have been searching-for, in connection with the tower of St Laurence, Ludlow, is STEEPLE; which is an odd word, because it need not refer to a spired tower. For example, the Bell Harry steeple of Canterbury Cathedral is, surely, the most beautiful tower in England. To be 'steeple-ey', perhaps a sense of verticality is all that is necessary. Bless you, both, for the sense of fun you bring to your UA-cam posts.

Amazing as always! Your tour videos are so much fun and you pack so much into them. If ever you get the chance, please come to Lancaster Priory as we'd love to see you live! We've got two organs (a Willis in the west gallery & a H&H in the north aisle played from a three manual console) and have just received a new grand piano, so we can take what you throw at us! LOL😊

Wow that really was an organ marathon!! Such amazing instruments - you are so fortunate to be able to play all of them! I only wish I could play. Thank you both for the wonderful guided tour, particularly of the Evreux organ. You seemed to climb to the top of the Cathedral, only to have to walk down again to get to the organ. I think they just wanted their organist to be fit!! The Huddersfield organ is really beautiful. I am so looking forward to the concerts!! Thank you both so much for this fun vlog! xx

Wow, that's a lot of amazing sounding and looking organs! Tom should publish a travel book of all the places they've been to. I'm sure he has enough pictures. 😄 I'm looking forward to the online concerts!
Incidentally, I was in Philly and saw the Wannamaker organ. The juxtaposition between the grand architecture/organ and the Macy's was kinda crazy. I chatted with one of the assistant organists, and he told me his favorite part of the organ is the subtle control he has over the sound with the variety of related but slightly different stops, which I thought was interesting.

Hi Guys!. When (if ever...) you have the time, could you use your magic on Mozart's " Jesu, word God Incarnate". I heard the beginng on your 4 organ tour, but sadly it was cut off after only a few bars. Lovely way to check if instrument is in tune.....!
