The reason why I respect E. Elias Merhige is because he's not afraid of doing something different. I love horror but so many of today's horror movies are the same (especially today's movies): They follow the same formula, same plot, the same idea, the same everything. The only thing that's different is the character's names. That's it! You might not enjoy Begotten which is understandable, but you've got to appreciate Merhige's willingness to travel to the unknown and express himself and do things his way. No one has ever made a silent movie in the vein of Begotten before or since. E. Elias Merhige is a genius!
Thanks for this one guys! Mr Erhige is a great inspiration. I only know him from his feature films and Din of celestial birds. Is there any way to get a hold of his other work in any way? Are his plays recorded for instance?
