I just passed 1yr on my 17' SDR. The bike is still amazing, its such a tamed beast. The more you ride it the more it seems to fit to your body, hard to explain just have to own one.
6 months with my 18'SDR, I can confirm this comment. It starts to feel like your in touch with the road and wind. I feel like the king of the road sometimes.
@@lukaszg74 I notice a lot of speed triple riders watch Super Duke videos; and, I know why. When I ride mine, ( 2017 SD|GT) my cock gets longer. I can only guess that on a speed triple it dose not???
With everything you said in this video you’ve just described the exact way I feel about my 390 duke when I got it a year and a half ago, the difference being that I’m just a kid and mine is a toy bike compared to this one, but i still fall in love with her every single time I ride it
The handlebars have 4 different mounting positions so you can tailor your reach a decent amount for comfort. I've found that for me the most rearward position removed all wrist pain on long rides.
Thank you UA-cam algorithm now I'm gonna binge this channel. Most importantly, thanks to whoever is working on this videos. The quality is high and the overall experience is delightful.
I've rode one, very impressed in fact so blown away with it's torque and comfort. Going sell my 2015 H2, getting a 2020 KTM 1290 3.0 the Beast. At 55 years old love the upright seating position at 6'1" over 255 lbs am too old having my knees under my armpits. Great review, talking about heat my 2008 ZX-14 turbocharged talk about heat, sometimes in the city I had look down thinking my pants were on fire. You done great review, your the only one that rode one on the highway, and said how it was. Please do one on the 2020 ASAP! 🇨🇦
Do yourself a favor and buy it! I have owned one for a few months now and by far it is the best bike i have ever owned. I love everything about. Its power, grace, build quality and refinement. This is the bike i will own for a long time!
After owning the black version of the 2017 1290 SDR since Jan last year, I have a couple of comments. 1. Yes, it does have a quick shifter (up and down) as part of the optional Performance Pack. I assume that was not installed on this demo. 2. The indicators in other parts of the world (like here in Australia) are LED and MUCH slimmer and nicer than the North American model (not sure why they are different). 3. The black rims on the 2017/2018 models have orange stripes. I am kind of disappointed in the all black rims on the "white" model in this video. 4. I TOTALLY agree (at 22:40); the version 2.0 1290 Super Duke R is, hands down, THE BEST BIKE I HAVE EVER OWNED. My next bike can only be whatever KTM brings out as their next top end super naked. I simply cannot get enough of this bike, even after 18 months!
Get an FZ/MT-10 and put a few bucks into performance and comfort mods. You’ll save a ton of money and won’t have the headaches Walter keeps having because of that awesome Japanese reliability. Cost effective and almost just as fast. I watched your FZ review, along with others, 100 times before sitting on all the super nakeds. Fell in love with the feel and took the plunge. If you ever do, hit me up for the must do mods and you’ll have a sweet machine. FZ FOR LIFE!
chaseontwowheels I don’t have a “real” channel, but check out the FZ-10 on-ramp vid I just threw up there. That’s not full throttle, who needs faster than that? 😂
I used to ride all sorts or bikes from yammy to ducati… and all i can tell u is the superduke 1290 is definitely the best bike.. in the freaking world!
I own a 2015 Superduke and may never sell it. I added a Akrapovic exaust, heated grips, upgraded the seat, swapped the ugly rear license plate holder for a shorty and upgraded the brakes(discs and pads). I also love how many accessories are available through KTM Power Parts. I got the rear side bag set and a tank bag for traveling which I highly recommend if you get one. In my mind its the perfect all around bike.
Totally agree that it feels awesome. Did a test ride day at the US round of MotoGP this year and rode about 6 or 8 bikes back to back, and the 1290 was my favorite of the day. Feels good, good usable power, great riding position. Rock on.
Hey man why haven't you looked at the Kawasaki Z900???? Its my daily.. No rider modes but it's a fantastic bike. Give it a ride. Or come out to Colorado and you can take mine for a ride!!
Kyle Dalton have you ridden a Fz09 was curios the comparison of the two. Heard bad and good things on the z900 and I wanna drive one and get my own onion. They look sweet. Does it have a ton of torque?
FZ Reina I have! The MT09 engine is way nicer but suspension is a let down. I owned the MT09 and went to SDR. I’m going to pick up an MT09 again and get cartridges and shocks for my commute bike. Z900 is great everywhere but lacks the engine and transmission refinement of the Yamaha.

My friend broke his neck in a car crash so he’s looking to get off a sport bike and I talked him into a getting a naked. Unfortunately both bikes are pretty out of our price range so it’s going to be a while.
Couldn't agree more on the TFT part. I believe Ducati has a better display and font. Companies should take this section of the bike as seriously as other parts of the bike. The 2020 bmw s1000rr also has a very good display and software IMO.
