Thanks so much for sharing. I was there. The crowd went nuts, overrunning the fences, invading the track. Made it impossible to even start the following sidecar race, so it was canceled. Epic. Brings back really nice memories.
Great bikes. First saw one in my local bike shop in the Summer of 1985 when they first came on the market. Unfortunately never got the chance to ride one although the RD 350 LC was wicked to ride.
Some of the best Two Wheel racing to ever take place never to take place again. I don't care how technically Advanced MotoGP becomes, it will NEVER rival the 70s 80s and early 90s 500 World Grand Prix racing!
Flying Lap Productions Your spot on those guys had to fight the bikes to get the most out of them. Now Days they have so many technical aids it just dose not compare.
Totally agree. Two strokes for me any day. Far more exciting to watch and far more skill required to ride fast. KR and Bazza at Silverstone in 1979 and Schwantz on his RGV 500 trying to keep the front end down scrapping with Rainey classic examples. I have given up watching Moto GP as it is down to the bike and not the rider just as with F1.
As a massive KR fan I loved this season.Great scrap between the King and Fast Freddie.Shame KR retired from Gp's at the end of this season but did see him at the 1984 transatlantic meeting. Actually watched this race at a tv shop in Scarborough as my parents had decided to have a family day outing on the same day.
I was a massive fan after seeing him win the 1979 Britsh GP and did see him live at Donington Park several times in the '80s including the 1984 transatlantic races which I think was his last competitive ride, in Europe anyway.
there is somewhere in YT...but it is not as agressive as Kenny says it was....Anyway, it is poor quality to check. (Rossi or Marc do 1 hundred like this in a mgp today)
He hadn't fully developed his skills on a 500 at that time, so it's an open question whether he ever became as proficient as Roberts and Spencer. No question he was a great champion, though.

I feel privileged to see a race that when it were on live British tele I was seeing as it happened. Legendary race champions for ever.
Imola was definitely one of my favorite tracks for the GP500 bikes.
Fantastic upload!
That season was fcuking epic, the closest ever and so many contrasts between the top two.

That historic moment when Murray finally learnt to pronounce "Mamola".

Thank you, I was there at Piratella
amazing! more please!
Kenny later regretted his decision to quit after 1983, he still was incredibly fast and likely could've pulled off another title.

I was at this race while stationed with the 1/509th VIcenza Italy.

Do you have footage of the previous race in Anderstorp? I never saw a video of that maneuver that Spencer did in the last lap to Roberts...

Grande Leandro Becheroni,
I love how the Brits pronounce "Yimahah"!
old imola
3:16 what chincane? second variante alta?
Essa Chicane não fazia parte do Layout... Parece algo improvisado ali.
No sorry i don't, i have never seen any footage anywhere about it,not even any photos of the incident, but i have read about it.
11 years later Senna died in the same circuit

So Spencer/Honda won the championship this year cos the bike was easier to push start, nice..
