Yes, this is vintage Wintersun. From the debut album (2004).Time I was released in 2012 (originally the whole Time -concept album was meant to be released in 2006, but it got delayed many many times because Jari was unable to realise his vision of the album with his gear. Even when Time I was released, he had to make a lot of compromises and he is unwilling to do that again with Time II. That's why eventually a crowdfunding campaign was created to fund a Wintersun headquarters where he would be able to create music without limitations. The first "perk" of the campaign was The Forest Seasons album in 2017, which is a lot more primitive stuff than Time albums so he was able to produce it with relative ease. Interestingly I think it's his best album yet although I very eagerly wait for Time II with its unreal high tech metal. We already have some idea what the songs sound like as they have performed two songs from that album live: The Way of the Fire (in my opinion the quintessential Wintersun song) and Storm, which is just pure mayhem. The first crowdfunding went surprisingly well and they only need one more campaign most likely. I expect that we get a new album next year or in early 2020 and after that they can start building the headquarters and it'll take a few years to put Time II album out. Boy have we waited that album a long ass time. I also expect them to remaster Time I again so it'll sound 100% the way it should be (the band has said that the initial release of the album only sound 60% the way it should, they included the remastered version "Time I 1.5" with The Forest Seasons crowdfunding package for the fans purchasing the package, which is a significantly improved version, but I'm sure Jari still isn't fully happy with it).
yep. exactly how i felt when i discovered them. my god. just exhausts you. and magically empowers at the same time. takes your breath away. leaves you speachless or at least mumbling strange shite. melts your brains, not to mention heart. i mean this is psychological af material here in it's purest. i love it. jari = love.
If you're not find of growling/screaming vocals, you're pretty much out of luck with Wintersun already. Death and the Healing is the only song with 100% clean vocals, but you should definitely check out the song "Time", which only has one growling part in the beginning. The official channel has the remastered lyric video and live rehearsal video. It is basically the unintelligible growls that wear me out, other harsh vocals I can more or less live with, especially if the vocal styles are mixed up. But if there is some growling and then cleans too, I can live with that as well. It is where growls dominate completely where I tend check out. So far that hasn't happened with the Wintersun stuff I have listened to, so far anyway .
Again, excellent choice. I would suggest other Wintersun, but really, pick anything. Some have more growls, some less. Its a bit of pot luck. Actually, maybe Battle against time or Winter Madness from first album. Guitar work is just ridculously good.

Patralgan they said they are taking a break from touring for a while in order to work on new music, so let’s hope it comes out before 2021

This is one of the Songs that Sold me on Wintersun way back when I first came across them and listened to this album.
If you enjoy this song so much! You have to listen to forest that weeps (Summer) or land of snow and sorrow.
