I met Andy at a charity auction a few months ago, where I was donating a piece of art I did. Anyway, we talked about nearly everything and anything except rugby and he's a great lad altogether. Very knowledgeable about many things, very open and honest and interesting. His rugby knowledge and his speaking ability are great here too. He made a bid on the piece but he didn't get it! Lovely guy.
Rassie is not entitled to a win. He is entitled to consistent fair officiating..like everyone. His methods might not be to everyone’s taste but that doesn’t discount the fact that officiating needs to improve overall. . What you are implying is that Ref mistakes are okay and he should get over it. You point out the yellow card that should have been a red and that if it was someone else it could have been red. That shows inconsistency in officiating and you yourselves are inadvertently admitting to inconsistency in officiating.. I like how Andy Dunne admits that the Irish got lucky 🍀 in some calls. . Surely you can’t expect the losing team to be happy with that.. having said that, SA also didn’t take their chances and Andy ‘s analysis on Willemse talks to that. Great show👍🏾
You aren’t going to get 100% consistency or even close to it. Unless you want the game stopped every 2nd minute. Rules will always be open to interpretation. Why are other coaches not going in about it? Usually decisions will even themselves out. Of course Rassie isn’t half as active when his team wins. He has come across as bitter and cynical in the last few days and certainly outside the respect that rugby prides itself it.

Ireland will get better but so will the Boks. Both teams will have to get past either France or the All Blacks to get to the semi finals. Both teams will have to win at least 3 big games to get to the semis since they will have to beat Scotland in the pool as well. Depth is going to be crucial.
They are fundamentaly different positions. Best described like nonu and conrad Smith. The 12 is a direct, bully ball runner, we call that position 2nd 5/8, then 13 is centre. Vision, and passing are key skills, along with defence

Why don't they have publicly available stats for refs? So each game is reviewed by a panel of refs, and every clear mistake is noted and then it's easy to see which refs makes the least mistakes?

Normally, when a try is scored the TMO is called in to check whether it was legitimate. Why was the TMO not called in to adjudicate? “Oversights” like these happen way too often. There was an obvious red card for Kolbe (under the modern rules) that was only given as a yellow. Du Toit should have been carded too. Also for one of the Bok tries the player who caught the ball from the kick-off was clearly offside, which you scored directly from. You benefited massively from some incorrect refereeing decisions and yet still whine . You’re a disgrace as a nation, no one else whines about refs so much. Grow up.

The truth and facts are clear. Are refs untouchable? Who is taking responsibility for their mistakes. The top tier teams can win every day nowadays. Winning margins are close to each other. One mistake of the ref can create a win for a team.
If the shoe was on the other foot and the these "small margin calls" went against Ireland or any other team for that matter international or domestic would you also not look at the inconsistent refffing and be a little miff that the calls are not been called fairly and even. Boks could of one if not for some of these small calls but also at the same time we did miss kicks at goal also so not all the blame on the ref. It should be noted and highlighed thou by the world rugby, i battel to see how a tmo wasnt used for this try, when one considers that in the French v Aus game before half time after the try was converted the TMO was still looking and almost called the players back on the field.
I just wish the lads wouldn't get too excited about a win we simply didn't deserve. 9 times out of 10 South Africa would have won that game. They're poor kicking and Disipline being the key factors but in terms of rugby we had zero answer in the first half. They should have been at least 10 points up. Gibson Park made the difference in the second half injecting his pace and quick passes. We probably would have played a lot better if Gibson park had started. The Irish team were looking tired by the time he came on at the end of the first half. But come on lads even if that had been the World cup pool game, so we would have narrowly beaten a poor SA and got very lucky doing so yet what would we do now against France or New Zealand. We lost 5-6 players during that SA game. Our squad would be crippled and Both France and New Zealand would tear us apart. I don't see how we've changed our game against the big teams. They challenged us to an arm wrestle and we stupidly obliged. Somehow we won due to poor SA play but we suffered heavy casualties as always. We haven't found out how to win against big teams. Saracens, La Rochelle, Sharks, France and England have all beaten us in the big games.

Plain and simple the games were all won by small margins??. The refing was poor and inconsistent without tmo stepping in so they paid to do the job but have failed . Forward pass!!! Kick through not blown up really easy to see.

It was a poor match full of errors, poor refereeing, continual interruptions, massive time wasting especially by Ireland etc. Ireland are totally overrated. All the Boks need is a no 10 to beat Ireland. They will gain revenge in RWC 2023 with a no 10 and professional referee and a more expansive fame plan and win by 12.

Your comment that : Ireland got a "little bit lucky with the Sexton inside pass" leading to the first try - "not mentioning Cheslin Kolbe's yellow which could easily have been red" Big difference between the two occurrences gentlemen - the latter was looked at and assessed by 4 officials and a call made. The former was not seen by any of the 4 officials but seen by 8 million plus fans around the planet. Second comment: "loose ball out of the ruck" leading to a try was clearly illegal as being kicked out of the ruck - again missed by 4 professionals but clearly seen by millions - not to mention SA penalised for the same play later in the match - missed by 4, seen by millions. Let's not even go into scrum penalties. Nothing about my comments is about the refereeing - its about your own craft. Without professional objectivity you move from the sublime (which you usually are) to the ridiculous. For what its worth, the view over here is that we took unnecessary selection risks, that the 28 year old rookie referee definitely effected the game outcome and that we didn't play to our potential leading to the conclusion that Ireland in its current form are actually quite easy to beat. Your comment that : Ireland got a "little bit lucky with the Sexton inside pass" leading to the first try - "not mentioning Cheslin Kolbe's yellow which could easily have been red" Big difference between the two occurrences gentlemen - the latter was looked at and assessed by 4 officials and a call made. The former was not seen by any of the 4 officials but seen by 8 million plus fans around the planet. Second comment: "loose ball out of the ruck" leading to a try was clearly illegal as being kicked out of the ruck - again missed by 4 professionals but clearly seen by millions - not to mention SA penalised for the same play later in the match - missed by 4, seen by millions. Let's not even go into scrum penalties. Nothing about my comments is about the refereeing - its about your own craft. Without professional objectivity you move from the sublime (which you usually are) to the ridiculous. For what its worth, the view over here is that we took unnecessary selection risks, that the 28 year old rookie referee definitely effected the game outcome and that we didn't play to our potential leading to the conclusion that Ireland in its current form are actually quite easy to beat.
