Fantastic tour, Sam. Wow, in your entrance to the hotel at 2:45, it looked like you two were film studio 'extras' in an international thriller. The hotel looked like an embassy or a consulate. You guys travel in style! Fun stuff, thanks for sharing.🙂
Doing it in style Sam! My own travels are always based on 2-star guest houses and street food (or cheap and cheerful local restaurants), so I can't imagine how nice this must have been for you. Keep enjoying!
It’s almost pronounced P’noem Peng. Sort of a glottal stop at the end of penh . I love it there. Wonderful city. And very evocative having the Mekong run through it… though the river alongside the riverwalk is the Tonle Sap- which is the only river of substance in the world that changes the direction of its flow according to the season. Nice vid again Sam…
Looks like a good trip. I couldn't walk 20 metres without the Tuk Tuk drivers in Siem Reap pub street giving me the triple sell. Tuk Tuk? Smoke? Lady? Definitely not keen to head off on a trip into the back streets with one of them.
Welcome back to Phnom Penh Cambodia. Cheers with a beer. Expensive hotel with awesome, huge room. Wonder if the pool is open 24/7?? (( still can’t find any, not even 1 in Bangkok )) For me it’s all about the 4 Red Light St and street food. Outstanding All Around
Sam, my brother has a lot of money, I’ll have to use that trick of booking a parking lot through agora next time I travel with him,…lol ,… just kiddin brother , keep the great videos coming !
never had a massage in asia, ever! used to live across the road from a parlor and had a parlor in my building but never got one. looks like a fun trip, sam! Samze and Ramze!
Another great video. I have been to Siam Reap and that was wonderful, but need to check out PP next time. Any problems at passport control? Up in Siam Reap they didn't like me for some reason. Made me wait for 45 minutes to get my passport stamped......that's after they took it, not waiting in any line, they just took it and held it for 45. Almost missed my scheduled pick up.
Looks great! I must admit that when I was there in 2003 there was none of that style of travel there. It hadn't been open long to tourism so it was quite raw. Doesn't mean it was better, just different, although Angkor Wat with hardly anyone there was an experience.
With your laptop, open up control panel, click on Power Options, and on the left you can click "Choose what to do when closing the lid", select nothing and you will be able to look at the TV-Monitor without having to have the laptop lid open :-) Cheers, 🙂
Sam, you used up most of your money on your Thai ex and now you are still spending way too much. Sleep in cheap $ 10-a-night hotels, eat the street food (you won't get sick)... you really have to cut your costs or you'll end up back in OZ.
@@artches1 I spent 11 years in Cambodia. It's a difficult country to maintain moderation/ balance in. Many were forced to go home due to 'having too much fun'. That's why I ended up leaving - I spent too much on 'fun' and ran out of money.
Having reached my 60s I found I had to move from the traditional Thai massage to an oil massage. Too much stress on the joints. But can't say I've been disappointed. Hahahahahaha, and yes... I find it very sensual.
i was in P-hnom penh like 20 years ago and also got roasted and 'corrected' by some other backpackers for apparently saying it wrong...'its nom penh' they reckoned...turns out they were wrong haha
I've had amazing adventures with some tuk tuk drivers in Phnom Penh. Yes, they are trying to make as much money as possible, but who isn't? They are working after all. But sometimes just jumping in and going for the ride takes you where you would never expect. And they are usually the nicest people. We just need to set boundaries. One took my lady and myself to the greatest water park. We practically had the place to ourselves. It was Unforgettable.
Ramze knows how to travel in style. I'm like you - travel often and travel cheap. I was in Bali a few months ago and the oil massages are the best. I don't really enjoy getting bent into unnatural positions anymore! I'm in Thailand next week and will be seeking out the gentler massage and no H....... Ending!

Good work Sammy, Ramze seems like a top bloke. I’m going to have to pop over to Cambodia next year when I’m in Thailand
Looks great. Some of us can only dream

looks like a great start to an awesome trip. Did you get the money back from the booking app you used for the hotel? stay safe Sam and Ramze
Yes Booking.com is my fave. They are good at reimbursing etc. I said Agoda in the video but it was booking.com

Ramze shouted me the hotel and the restaurants brother.
I had a super low budget trip planned 😂
Wow dude… that’s a very personal comment think you need to chill out and let some one have fun. If you disagree be constructive not personal

You were getting very close to the "no drone zone" towards the end of the video
Mine wouldn’t take off so I pilfered the footage off the web. Cardinal Sin, I know!
Glad to see you not speaking Thai there this time lol.
Visit Kampot and Kep
Where’s all the nightlife stuff ?!!

Backpack only is the way to go bro no waiting around for luggage at the airport. I can go a whole month with just a backpack it's actually easy
Absolutely Micko!
A whole month? i went 10 months last year.

are you using AI to help with your descriptions?
Yep first time!
Given I spend like 9 hours on the edit, figured I’d try chatgpt do my description to try scrape a few minutes of life back
I can write. But a passage like that would take me an hour, minimum
Very interesting Vlog. Welcome to Cambodia.
Great Khmer song Jon Ban Propun.... Love the Thai Esarn/Lao morlum and Khmer music.

Correct way is to pronounce the P in Phnom

I was there back in the mid 90s, it was wild and raw, the place has definitely lost its character,
Phanom penh are more developed than bangkok.
