I have one myself what people need to know is they hurt…. No matter how good you are with pain rib tattoos are right on the bone with thin skin I started out small with just a sentence and that hurt like hell

At some point I burst-out laughing over a joke that she made and somehow the straight line she was working on turned-out perfectly crisp.
Ribs are also curved and tattooing on a not flat surface is not only more difficult, but you have to design the tattoo so it “flows” with your body and doesn’t clash with the curve of your ribs.
I remember getting a bunch of flowers going up from my scar on to my ribs. The guy that doing my tattoo up was shocked when I responded if it hurt a lot; I said I was actually falling asleep cause I was surprisingly comfortable.
That's so funny because I often fall asleep during my tattoo sessions. As I get older and wiser, I attribute it to enduring horrific trauma as a very small child. Needles piercing my skin are like angels breathing over me in comparison. I don't know if that's your case, but I suspect this of us who fall asleep have something similar going on! Blessings.
@orane367 I'm not lying at all on my experience with falling asleep during the tattoo up my ribs. I think a lot of why I was falling asleep and didn't feel much was because of scar tissue build up on my abdomen. I am a survivor of gastroschisis and have a huge scar going across. The tattoo was my now husband's idea on getting it because it is a good symbolism on my traumatic experience being in the hospital back and fourth for 18 years.

Ribs are all good, no more painful than the rest of the front and the skin is really nice and takes ink well. Only downside is that its a big area when its stretched out but thats fine, get that stencil on and do a big tattoo. One of the chillest areas to heal too.
