Not sure if you’re paddling or just floating but we hit the dam last afternoon at around 5 and were getting out at McGinnis at 7:30 and we were not working hard at all. If you’re not fishing or screwing around and just basically keep the boat in the center of the flow it’s an under 3 hour trip. Just floating it takes an extra couple hours. To be fair we had a lot of recent rain and river was at 4100 volume so it may have been pushing a bit faster than normal.
Thanks for the information you have on this part of the river. Do you think a flat bottom and V hull jon boat will be able to nav through this part of the river?
What a perfect video man .I need help im here right now from southwest FL I fish every day I brought a inflatable kayak would you say bad idea? Is it likely to get popd
There is no where to camp on this stretch of river. It’s all private land and massively tall banks. Try the Etowah River in the Dawson Forest or Chestatee River.
This Video is great dude!! I'm just getting in to trout fishing and kayak fishing on the hooch and this helps a ton...

No. I would not recommend a jon boat. Lots of hazards and shallow water. Kayaks are best.
Great and detailed info. Thank you!
Great video!! Thanks a million.
Great video. You know the river really well. Any helping me find deep water for a motor boat? Appreciate it
Nice video!
Thanks!
Great video! Nice details. Do you know if there’s a spot to put a net near Highway 20, since the bridges are complete?

You should be ok in an inflatable. Stay away from the timber and wear a PFD and you’ll be alright.
Do you have any tips for camping along this stretch? What's the next good takeout after McGinnis? I might just portage at 20 Rock....

Would you recommend a 14’ Jon boat with two trolling motors, starting from McGinnes Ferry to buford dam (against current)? Thanks.
The highest upriver you could get is 20 rock. That rapid is going to be too much for a jon boat.
@@Hydrayak shall I understand that, starting from McGinnes Ferry (with trolling motors), the furthest place I can go is 20 rock? Thank you.
