The brown trout in the river are wild, not native. The DNR has not stocked browns since 04 after a breeding population was found to be established. The rainbow trout that are stocked average 10in in length as that is the standard stocking size. They do not stock fingerling rainbows as they get demolished by the browns. This has been done when the hatchery was shut down for maintenance once. The state record brown was caught somewhere between the hatchery and Hwy 20, the angler who caught it won’t give the exact location. He caught it floating on a kayak. Chattahoochee river park is Medlock Bridge Park. The only ramp for Holcomb Bridge/Garrards Landing is river right after the bridge and shoal. It is typically packed in with several feet of mud. There are trophy trout from the dam to Island Ford. I know because I’ve caught them or netted them for others.
Super appreciative of this video. Thank you for sharing!

What stretch of river have you found to be consistently most productive for trout fishing?
Buford Dam to McGinnis Ferry.
Ho would the Chattahoochee be this weekend? Looking for a place to take my wife. Thanks
