    About: Satisfactory
    Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat. Pioneering for FICSIT Incorporated means charting and exploiting an alien planet, battling alien lifeforms, creating multi-story factories, entering conveyor belt heaven, automating vehicles, and researching new technologies.
    This Factorio like game has heavy automation, with automated mining, crafting, and you can even automate movement!

      I don't think they have a real plan for this yet, but we are going to have updates for sure. I expect free updates, hopefully to add the features they had to leave behind for 1.0 - but I also wouldn't mind to spend money on one or more DLC's later on. I played almost 5300 hours of this 30 euro game - talking about value for money lol. :D Also it's pretty fair to pay for extended development of the game, so totally agree with you here. Well, I guess Snutt might tease some future plans too coming weeks/months - at least something we could hope for :)

  • @TheCorpsehatch
    @TheCorpsehatch 3 місяці тому +39

    I've seen a few comments about the automated biomass burners making early game too easy or making mid game power useless.
    Automated biomass burners simply make it less tedious to run around your early game factory to keep them fueled. They will not be replacing mid and late game power.

    • @TotalXclipse
      @TotalXclipse  3 місяці тому +16

      I agree - but I think it goes deeper than that - perhaps worth a video in itself further down the line - Originally they were happy with the balance of Biomass generators leading to coal in the early game, they didn't want Automation as it would make people reliant on them more earlier. So what changed, was it just a change of heart? or what I perceive to be the case is early tiers will be expanded on, requiring us to spend more time on them. Hence the now NEED for automated Biogens - I could be mistaken though

    • @electroman1996
      @electroman1996 3 місяці тому +5

      I think even with feedable biomass burners people will still build coal as soon as they unlock it, since this you can build and then never have to touch it again (compared to still hand feeding leaves and wood to a biomass production line).
      In my opinion, being able to feed them automatically instead of running to every single one of them doesn't make it THAT much less tedious, but much more comfortable.

    • @Xhaleon
      @Xhaleon 3 місяці тому +1

      @@electroman1996Feeding each one individually is all the tedium there is to bio burners, especially for those who expand a lot before unlocking coal. If you're using a chainsaw to clear out an area and not have plants poking through the floor, you will inevitably end up with leaves and wood in your inventory, which after 1.0 can be dealt entirely with by throwing it into a single box. That's about as much as anyone could ask for. Good reason for players to learn how to load balance too, not too many use-cases benefit from that kind of arrangement, even if the trailer showcased a manifold.

    • @WarpaintStudios
      @WarpaintStudios 3 місяці тому +2

      exactly, they still aren't going to be powerful or efficient enough to run large factories or late tier stuff nearly as well as late tier power.

    • @denalidtx
      @denalidtx 3 місяці тому +2

      @@TotalXclipse Coffee Stain said that they aren't adding/expanding some features (combat, for example) because this is ultimately a game about factory automation. It's more consistent for them to allow more automation, even at the expense of early game challenges (read as "grind"). I'm guessing this is the driver for the change, but that's just a guess.

    Possible DLC I could see for Satisfactory:
    1. Appearance packs. The Ficsit aesthetic has a kind of slick Tonka truck feel to it, I could see a $10 pack to change the look of a lot of in-game objects (trains, factory machines, etc) to either a more cyberpunk look, or maybe more old timey, etc.
    2. New map(s). BOY that would be a big project on their part, you might even badge it as a 2.0 release, but it wouldn't be impossible. Set it somewhere else on Massage or elsewhere.
    3. Golf.
    4. Possibly a simple one to implement: A new project scenario, where they ask you to send different parts up the space elevator, and in different quantities.

    • @SeraphsWitness
      @SeraphsWitness Місяць тому

      Yea they need new maps. Or at least add randomized resource placements. Once you've played this map a few times, it becomes less fun because you just memorize where everything is.

    • @SeedlingNL
      @SeedlingNL Місяць тому

      I don't think an entirely new map as DLC is likely, but they might fill in some of the empty parts of the map with new biomes. Some of those void holes in the middle of the map are a bit too sus NOT to be entrances to a cavernous underground area. Other areas are currently a massive void, but that might be because 1.0 simply doesn't need any new biomes to fill said voids.
      What could count as a new 'map', would be space factory building.. build resource gathering in asteroid belts, mine moons, etc, then send those resources back to your main space station, either to supplement your factories below or to build new high-tech things. Maybe even build spaceships using the resources from the planet and space.
      I hear Alterra is in the market for a new deep space exploration vessel :P

The DLC is also at a low price-point which further increases it's draw ($4.99 US regular price on Steam, sales for up to 50% off). DRG also does this very well (also Coffee Stain published), although it's purely cosmetic bits.

    - I would like to see in the DLC: Underwater factories, a scuba diver suit, an underwater world with algae and very deep depressions and creatures. Hydroelectric power plants (in areas with high water flow). Thermonuclear power plant. Wind power station (in locations with wind flows). There is no need for solar, otherwise it will be too awkward because... the sun is everywhere on the map. Greenhouses with conveyors. Significant expansion of caves, especially deeper into the planet. Lava biome. What we are building with the help of the Build project will be visible in the sky, and it will become larger in size as the phases progress. Construction in orbit (i.e. the character gets into a space elevator, reaches orbit and there he can begin to expand the base around the elevator and there the game works completely differently, weak gravity, completely different blocks for construction and you will need a special reinforced suit). Construction on the Moon - as a separate addition. From orbit it will be possible to board a shuttle, reach the nearest Moon (which is very similar in appearance to the Earth's moon), and there it will be possible to mine rare elements. Archeology - it will be possible to dig holes in certain places on the map and learn more about the history of the planet (dinosaurs?).

    I'm on my second attempt at the game, I've just finished tiers 5 and 6 and now I gotta finish phase 3 of the elevator and I remember this being the part of the game that started to really overwhelm me, what with large-scale assembly lines, vehicle logistics, and having to reorganize everything I've already built to accommodate new tools for resource production.

  • @MegaLokopo

    I hope they don't fall into the same trap mojang did, it really sucks when a game updates periodically and it forces modders to start from scratch every time. I hope they release many updates far into the future, but they never break mods in the process.

    It would be kind of neat to create water slide conveyers that can transport goods using a water physics' downhill slope to some destination. Out of player sight, they could function like regular conveyer belts that are out of player sight to help reduce software/hardware resource use. An approximation claw could reach into the water to pull resources out, or perhaps there could be water-to-belt transition rollers.
    That's not going to happen, but imagination is kind of what Satisfactory is about.

    I've thought a little more, I think boats would be a cool addition. Either smaller ones that carried a similar load to trucks/tractors, or maybe a larger cargo ship version that took a while to load and unload and could maybe make factory balancing a challenge. Perhaps dry cargo or fluid options. Mainly I just think it would be cool to look out across the sea from some elevated point and watch a few boats scurrying about; another interesting way to have some activity in the world.

      Once you've shipped the final parts to finish the Death Star, a small platform comes down from the space elevator. A holographic Mariachi band starts playing and singing "Great job amigo! You've won the grand prize! Official release from your contract! Congratulations!"
      Then the platform goes back up, the Death Star detaches, and its final action before departing is to blow up the asteroid you're on, and you with it. Enjoy your retirement.

    About 2/3rds through my 2nd play-through, this time I'm trying to avoid areas I used the 1st time. I'd like to see creature spawn and resource node randomization before playing a 3rd time as there aren't many surprises left once molesting pretty much the entire world. The problem is that if you add logic to the base game everyone is expected to use it in someway or they get the feeling of missing out on some aspect of the game. I guess they want Satis to be catered to a broad audience. That's the exact reason I love this Factory Building game the most out of all I've played. • @jimmmmus
      @jimmmmus 3 місяці тому

      I’ve posted about that on reddit before, about how I’d love to have the world OPEN UP to allow you to travel over the entirety of the ‘Vistas’ (like come on guys why would there be hundreds of square miles of highly detailed landscape geometry)
      Of course you’d need to have access to a whipe host of new technologies in the Awesome shop as a reward for completing the basic structure of Project Assembly, and now you need to use Facility Blueprinters, Mk 2 trains that go 500km/hr, heavy transport drones that you can fly around or set to autopilot, even cargo ships between the mainland and the mountains across the western sea.
      I think to make it more interesting you’d need area bosses like the giant crab, sandworms in that massive desert, a stinger hive in the jungle mountains, and maybe some kind of flying threat in the western mountains.
      The solution? Custom Hovertanks. You wanna chaingun nukes at your problems like turbo rifle ammo? Go right on ahead, just be careful where you aim so you don’t nuke yourself.
      Need to speed across the desert? Equip it with efficient light thrusters and skim along at a breezy 250km/hr.
      Need to blast some bats in the mountains? Slap some heavy duty thrusters, fuel tanks, and smart ammo gattling guns on her and take to the skies.
      The whole point after the final tier would be to refine your designs and adapt them into different environments in innovative ways, kind of a step up from the basic creating factories aspect that could provide a really engaging long term experience.
      Really, as Unreal Engine improves, the sky is the limit, I’m just hoping support keeps up long enough to solve the Uobject issue that makes my ideas kinda implausible.

    Oh, hell yeah, I'd be up for buying DLC packages for Satisfactory. Gives them a chance to take it a bit easier since the game itself won't be in Early Access anymore. They could follow the example of Keem, the creators of Space Engineers, who release paid and free DLCs to enhance the game and add new things to it.
    I once suggested doing something similar to what Keem did, released in a DLC, that allowed for the creation of static mannequin engineers (pioneers in this case) in different positions and doing different things to give the appearance of life around you while you play solo. In this case the static pioneers could give the appearance that there are overseers looking at production lines, making repairs, looking at a clipboard etc. Would be a cool DLC that could be introduced alongside like aesthetic control panels and things you'd find in a control center, or additional cosmetic items to fill in space on some of the more unique factory builds that some people make.
    Also, if they made a Satisfactory 2, I think it should be on that volcanic planet that we see at night. With a story line of sorts that we're taking over after the previous team(s) failed. And if they did that, would imagine similar but different structures would be used there. But instead of crashed hub ships, you find hard drives in the remains of the previous team(s) factories, the same structures in the first one could be disheveled and ruined denoting the previous groups. While we used newer and updated equipment and structures.

    I’m so excited to see what all of those unfinished items will be used for. The story will also just be interesting to hear. The free customizer was such a nice change. If they made dlc and it was just logic, then I wouldn’t get it, but if it was something new they added, maybe some kind rideable drone. Then I might get it.

Amazing passion by the developers to develop a fantastic game.

  • @RickClark58
    @RickClark58 3 місяці тому

    Since they said outright that they want to add official mod support, then it is a given that game development will continue beyond 1.0. The factory genre is a growing segment of the game industry right now, and Satisfactory is the best of the crop, IMO, so it would be silly not to keep the game in active development during this time. That being said, a paid DLC model for this type of game would be problematic. If you add official modding support and then want to add a functional DLC, modders will just mod the stuff into the game. Paid DLCs just don't make sense, this isn't Fallout where a DLC adds in a new storyline to explore, and I think Coffee Stain will rely on new sales in a genre that seems to be growing in popularity.
    The optics on paid post-purchase content is quite bad at the moment. Look at Dragon's Dogma and the reception they have received over the in-game store that really doesn't impact the game in any way, you can simply ignore it and go on with your play, but most people have taken it as just another sign of corpo greed in a world where greed seems to be the driving force of many economies. Coffee Stain seems to be very community oriented and I just don't see them wanting to comprise the good will of the community by even the appearance of money grabbing.
    What I took away from the "not in the game" vid was that Satisfactory will be around for a while, that they have plans to implement features that will continue to set this game apart from the growing crowd of factory games for sometime in the future. I personally feel that 1.0 is only the beginning not the end.

    • @TotalXclipse
      @TotalXclipse  3 місяці тому +1

      I think that's a very fair point but I don't see CSS doing any DLC in the way that Dragons Dogma 2 does. I feel there is the opportunity for DLC but it has to be a full package. I don't think a large expansion would be seen as corporate greed and I feel after the 5-6 years taking the game from EA to 1.0 that a paid expansion would be something the larger community would be open to (but obviously not immediately after 1.0 - give us a year or two :D ) But I definitely believe, it is just the beginning and that is very exciting

    • @RickClark58
      @RickClark58 3 місяці тому

      @@TotalXclipse Yeah, I think an expansion DLC could work well. A new polar map with some new game mechanics would be interesting. A tropical setting, maybe situated within an archipelago, could be an option. What I would really like to see is a space area, where you could build a space station. You could add a number of new game mechanics to the game such as a space suit, oxygen generators, gravity generators, microgravity production facilities, and so on. Of course, having the option to link into your ground-based facilities would be a good way to link the two areas together, and would be valid for any expansion. I have to agree that expansion packs have a lot of potential and would definitely be a viable option for future funding of game development. I certainly wouldn't mind spending money on expansion packs if that ever becomes an option.
