It's not even surprising the Touran is built on the same platform as the TT since it's closely related to the VW Golf which shares the same platform as the TT, the Seat Leon and the Audi A3 just to name a few. Same thing applies to most manufacturers nowadays, especially if they belong to the same group.
Not even close, only about 10% of the running gear was used in the Jag from the Mondeo. Jag chassis and body were unique.

You missed the crazy Fiat combinations. Fiat 124 Spider = Mazda Miata Fiat 500 = Ford Ka Fiat 500x = Jeep Renegade Fiat Doblo = Opel Combo Fiat Scudo = Renault Traffic Fiat Ducato = Citroën Jumper = Peugeot Boxer = RAM (i don't know the name) Fiat is one crazy company when sharing chassis's.
Mk4 Supra 6 speeds were made by Getrag (BMW has trannies from the same manufacturer although its a different model of transmission). Not everything in a car is made by just one manufacturer, this is something everyone has to get in their heads.
Here's a well known fact: the Camaro is based on a Holden Commodore. Not the poser that is being flogged as a Commodore in Australia today, but a Commodore we designed, engineered and built here. As a result, we actually built Chevy Camaros. There's even a photo of one going around the Nurburgring _on Victorian numberplates._

I don’t think chassis would be the best word as much as platform. Cars that share the same chassis are structurally equal meaning only the brand logo, and, maybe slightly different headlights/taillights. Think the Cobalt coupe and Pontiac G5. The literally share the same chassis. I feel most of these car comparisons share the same platform which have chassis similarities but have a different structure meaning a different overall chassis despite having similar chassis characteristics.

GM Saabs were often not as GMish as people think. And 95s are very well built cars. Compare a 2001 Saab 95 against an Audi A6, Merc E class, and BMW 5 Series of the same era, and I am pretty sure the Saab has the best quality metal, rust proofing and paint, and probably the best leather.

Yep RUF takes just the blank chassis complete with the body (unpainted) and heavily modifies them from there on. RUF is a manufacturer as such, not just a tuner.

MKIV Supra and Lexus SC400/SC300/Soarer. As an SC owner myself, I couldn't be happier! It's a Supra, but with wood, leather, and that expensive emblem on the hood. Chicks dig it more than a Supra, and it's got no shortage of speed. Mine will easily go *Shinkansen* speeds, all day long. All Supra parts just bolt in (Duh! Same car, after all!) and I've got Supra TT coilovers on mine, which tightens up the handling beautifully. Never gonna sell this car!

Phaeton was underwelming to travel in. Sure, it was comfy. But it still looked like an upscale Passat, and felt like it. If you were in the market for a luxury car, and tested the competition, you would probably not buy the WV on feel alone. MB S-class, BMW 7 series and Audi A8 simply had a more luxurious feeling even if you looked past the badge. Wish is one of the reasons they did not sell.

None of these were surprising. Lancer evo2 and Volvo 1 gen v/s40 is arguably more surprising than any of these. They really dont share the chassi as such though only the floor pan same as all of these examples.

@@jacobf.8992 There's a big difference between a chassis and a platform. He should have made it clearer in the video. A Jeep compass does not have the same chassis as the Lancer Evolution. In the same way a boring spec Lancer does not have the same chassis as a Lancer Evolution.
Renault's buying Nissan absolutely ruined them. Nissans are utter garbage now, the new maxima looks beautiful but their reliability make me stay away from them.

Toyota had two versions of the car, the Matrix sold in the US with different styling, and the Voltz, same design as the Vibe with the Toyota logo added and right hand drive. In fact, everything between the Matrix and the Vibe (except for the styling) are exactly the same.
The 5th Gen Ford Taurus, Mercury Sable, Ford Taurus X and Volvo S80 all shared a platform. Likewise the Volvo P1 S40/V50, 1st gen Mazda 3, and 2nd gen Euro Ford Focus. Then there's the P3 Volvo S80 and Land Rover LR3/Discovery.

Mazda b sieres and Ford ranger. Vw had the Toro which was a Toyota pickup with vw badges. Mitsubishi 3000gt and Dodge stealth. Chrysler conquest was the Mitsubishi starion. Toyota mr2 and Pontiac fiero. Almost any gm car now is from their UK division. I can list many many more.
Phaeton was underwelming to travel in. Sure, it was comfy. But it still looked like an upscale Passat, and felt like it. If you were in the market for a luxury car, and tested the competition, you would probably not buy the WV on feel alone. MB S-class, BMW 7 series and Audi A8 simply had a more luxurious feeling even if you looked past the badge. Wish is one of the reasons they did not sell.

None of these were surprising. Lancer evo2 and Volvo 1 gen v/s40 is arguably more surprising than any of these. They really dont share the chassi as such though only the floor pan same as all of these examples.

Yup, have a 200 Touring V6 and have driven a Journey SE-AWD V6, can confirm that the Journey I drove felt like a taller, fatter version of my 200, but had traction from a dig!

A Jeep compass does not have the same chassis as the Lancer Evolution. In the same way a boring spec Lancer does not have the same chassis as a Lancer Evolution.

Renault's buying Nissan absolutely ruined them. Nissans are utter garbage now, the new maxima looks beautiful but their reliability make me stay away from them.
