Back in 2008 when I was still in 3rd year, I asked my high school teacher in Social Studies why The Philippines need to study the English language while they don't have to speak and learn the Filipino language. As an inquisitive one, I find it unfair but my teacher answered me: "most likely because we are not that too important as of the moment but who knows in the future, they will study ours too", then Harvard University is now offering Tagalog courses. The moment I read that few days ago in the headlines, I felt like I was transported in the year 2008, at around 3pm inside the warm and humid environment of our classroom. My point is, whatever reasons you guys have as vloggers featuring the Philippines, the law of reciprocity applies here regardless of the reasons like 'pinoy baiting', after all, I also studied copywriting skills which means I understand why you guys used strong words on your captions. If featuring our country will bring back tourism here and gives you livelihood in return, then I am glad we are offering you a ticket out of the rat race 😄

Halatang walang pagmamahal sa pilipinas, for the views lang talaga. Bilib ako kay becoming Filipino talagang nakatira sa probinsya at marunong ng dialect doon.

Yes, you really hit the nail on its head. I watch those UA-camrs who feature the Phils. Many Pinoys are out of the country, so we need to be informed on what’s going on with the beloved Pinas. Why would Pinoys follow up a youtuber who features other countries unless this Pinoy plans to visit that country? Just continue what you’re doing. You may need to feature/insert a content that’s not your norm. Example: Try to feature one place outside of BGC or Boracay, say, Mindanao island. You may add viewers! Take the risk. You’re just funny and real. You make me giggle with your comments.

Thank you so much, Juliet I’m overwhelmed by the amount of views and subscribers I’m getting and everybody showing love. I genuinely love the Philippines, and never made a longform video until I have been here for months so I could actually have some knowledge but yeah I noticed a lot of OFW’s and a lot of locals are rallying behind me in supporting me my biggest supporters. It’s not for the American guy that’s moving here that’s only like 20% of my audience. It’s mainly Filipinos in Filipinos, whether they’re abroad or here that are supporting me and commenting and liking and everything.

Jasper, as long as bloggers show anything about our island, guarantee that Filipinos all over the world will be watching. Showing province life, eating local foods and many more will be viewed by filipinos abroad, because it takes away their homesickness. your channel helps the economy of the Philippines, due to the influx of tourists, visitors or escape from a stressful life in western countries. So, whatever subject bloggers that interest viewers, attract many. Thanks for loving what you do. Promoting Philippines to the world is the key to success there. Stay safe and keep up the good work. @JasperinthePhilippines  Рік тому +5

Exactly exactly someone tried to accuse me of that and I’m like I’ve said that there’s certain things that upset me if I was Pinoy baiting, I wouldn’t mention the foreigner price or the humidity or the long lines or the brown outs or any of that I would just say oh my God it’s Beverly Hills in Asia. It’s the greatest thing ever. I have no complaints ever about anything so that I don’t upset anyone but I’m a tiny channel so I’m just gonna say the truth and even when I get big if I ever get big, that’s what sets my channel apart is that I say the uncomfortable truth that nobody else would ever say because it’s like not politically correct

Never mind the sugar coating just dont pretend you see a beautiful geese from an ugly duckling we sure understand! What matters most is just to see you cover speak what you discover in real time the good, the bad and the ugly! As a nation economically we are the fastest growing in ASEAN, its only a matter of time that progress will ultimately dawn upon us but hopefully progress not at the expense of eroding the true national values of the Filipino, mostly fun loving, God fearing, nationalistic, open minded, loving, sincere and innocent to the core! I truly like your Channel much Sir because it has full of love and respect for us people! Congrats Sir to hopefully advance your views someday to 100, 000 k or more in the future! You are very correct. Let’s just say that we Filipinos have learned how to really use social media to our advantage in every way. Well that’s apart of course from the fact that we really enjoy watching vlogs about the Philippines and about our artists and kababayans. And we are genuinely supportive to all kinds of people.
Both sides benefit - the vloggers gain subscribers and earn money, while the Philippines gets known worldwide very fast without spending any pesos.
And yes, you have a good observation about channels getting fluctuating support depending on whether they are featuring anything about the Philippines or not. On the other hand, as soon as watchers from anywhere in the world learn about the Philippines, the attraction rarely dies.
It’s a very healthy, cost-free, wide-reaching, and speedy “marketing” strategy for us.

I noticed that some are using the pilipino subscribers. But pilipinos are kind and happy we supported most of the vloggers. Some of those who chose to stay in Philippines for any reason. One is they became big earner in UA-cam and become rich in Philippines due to dollar accounts of UA-cam exchange rate is high. I just hope those vloggers that make money should give back to the community where the stay. A lot of locals are poor and just trying to make the end and to have 3 meals a day. Views equal dollars when you get them at a large enough rate as in 50,000 100,000 views you get paid in American dollars for that so when you’re in a country that is relatively poor as a generality you should understand that those people are putting money in your pocket, so should help some of them if you get very big on UA-cam and you can afford to.

Even dark-skinned vloggers get views as long as they talk about the Philippines. So this phenomenon of foreign vloggers getting views is not exclusive to white vloggers. Filipinos love to watch anything that is related to the Philippines. The problem with getting the Filipino viewers is that the Filipino viewers will drop the vlogger once he leaves the Philippines. Stay in the Philippines and you will get your views. Leave the Philippines and those viewers will be gone.

Vlogging is work. There's a ton of time and effort invested in it, not to mention the money spent on the gadgets being used. So if the creator is making money out of it I don't have a problem with it.
If the content is something I would be interested in checking out I'll watch it.
It's not a secret that foreign vloggers are making money in the Philippines. It's given.

While I agree with most of what's already been commented, particularly about the audience as a result of the Filipino diaspora (and the locals like myself), I also agree that many do come here for the views.
Such as one I am reminded of that never seem to have "gotten [their channel] off" after years in Thailand (their claim not mine), kind of disses other vloggers who chose to come here (a turn off, if you ask me-this is a free country after all) and later, themselves fly in perhaps check out what the hoopla is all about; yeah, the Philippines was probably farthest from their agenda, if at all, and suddenly catapults their subscribers and views with occasional link bait titles (not to mention attaching themselves to-maybe seeking out?-the popular vloggers on the side).
However, it's not hard to miss that the Filipinos are a welcoming people in general, especially to visitors who they sense are genuine and come here with open hearts and minds. At the end of the day, the Philippines wins as you rightly say.
To you and your viewers, keep safe wherever you are or find yourselves in.

PH is the social media capital of the world. Everybody speaks, writes and understands english. There are 4M overseas filipinos worldwide and most of them have never been to the country for years and want to see how the country looks like and that's where views and subscription arise. Thai people only subscribe to local Thai vloggers because most of them can't understand english. We only watch them while they are still here travelling because most of us can't afford to travel but once they move to another country, we can't relate since we can't travel to those places. There are some vloggers moving here for good. One even became Filipino citizen, some have resident permits or green cards like in the US. Some move to the paradise island of siargao.

I’m just gonna say the truth I don’t care what people think and apparently it’s catching on picking up because people like my style, I’m not scared to say what it really is and what it really isn’t :-)

Any vlog focusing on PH, esp. about its beauty & goodness, is a reaffirmation of what we already know but was denied from us by MSMs and our fellow Filipinos. We've been bombarded for life about how ugly this nation is, about how corrupt the people are, about how poor we are. Filipinos working abroad would always return bringing with them, not just pasalubong of soaps & chocolates, but also negative views of their own country.
"In my America, we are more efficient."
"In Japan, people are respectful and honest."
"We are better off in Europe, Pinoys have no manners."
"What? Your ambition is to live and die in this country? You must be stupid!"
Seeing our nation in the lens of foreigners helps us relive our patriotism. There is only one nation and one people I will fight for, it's the Philippines & the Filipinos (natural & those who love my nation for what it is, not just for views).
Thanks to foreign vloggers who helped us find this spirit again.

15 years ago when people heard about the philippines the negative publicity is so bad foreigners think its a warzone here, that there is a civil war going on or majority of the people here are starving lol, then vlogging became popular in youtube and we see foreigners actually showcase the beauty of the philippines not those negative bullshit things that is always in the mass media

Hindi nmn lahat. Though, you're right about fellow Filipinos abroad. But they're like that because of what the 70s to 80s Gov instilled on them and the Poverty that time. But in my years studying in Public school during early 2000s, our teachers instill in us being Makabayan. I grew up in love with my Country even now. So no, not everyone hate our Country. A HUGE percentage LOVE our Country.
