simple Mixer Stripboard layout Available on my site! www.lookmumnocomputer.co 30 minutes of stems and samples of this thing are available over on my patreon aswell as the song from this video :) - www.patreon.com/lookmumnocomputer Also! Would you like the 3d printed files for that little socket i built?
I should have said signal generator.... it was a score from the local dump.. I believe it is an EICO branded unit. I’ll upload a video and link it here
I've got an idea! Can you make a synth with a panning option & one that makes the volume go up & down. Example 3 oscillators one is a bass where the volume is going up & down (maybe different ways like a wave or a sidechain) one oscillator is panning left to right or right to left (and you can control the paning speed/ how far left to right it goes) and the 3rd one is just a tweakable tone plus you can filter it etc? 😃 that would be awsome
Hey Sam! So by absolute chance I came across a B&K 1022 BFO in a local thrift store today. They're asking $200, which sounds a bit more than what you've paid but I imagine these are rarer here in the states. I had read on a forum that some of these old B&K oscillators put out massive voltage, as they were meant for lab work, and they can blow mixers amps etc if not modded. Any knowledge of the voltage issues? Worried I'll blow out my stereo lol. It's in a super random grungy thrift store so I would be amazed if they even know what it is let alone that they may have tested it, any key things to test or look for before buying? Thanks!
Awesome how you're getting such organic sounds out of white noise and the signals, must be the analog circuitry...sometimes like 50s sci-fi effects from the movie The Forbidden Planet, awesome man, it's like having mega-multi-band resonance filter at your finger tips with a large bunch of potentiometers.
I'd give two thumbs up if I could, only for the sheer amount of work that went in there. You have the absolute right kind of whackyness, I like you so much. I have two old function generators from 1970-1975 and I like to use them to display Lissajous figures on my 1970 oscilloscope. Some times I even interconnect them and listen to their beeping and sweeping :)
wow this filters have very nice disttortion to it i think. gives the sound extreme strenghth. sounds nearly like a soundgoodizer, like a preamp but stronger. this is wonderful
Sam: "This is an audio frequency spectrometer, a forgotten relic from the '60s" Also Sam: "Yeah I'm gonna need like 14 of these now." Seriously though, the Frequency Bank looks fantastic, love the aesthetics blend.
9:35 it just genuinely sounded like infinitely many instruments combining to make the sound, like when a buildup is created from 20+ layers. You took a single loop and made it sound like 30 seconds from an average EDM song. That was amazing
Amazing source of frequencies and filter maxed out to ridiculous scale! Yas! I imagined what will happen if you add CV or LFO to each of these filters. Absolutely crazy setup you did. Bravo !
1. this is amazing and you are a mad genius b. its fantastic to watch the rapid improvement in build quality, those printed panels and the face plate fit the equipment's look so well さん. never give up on the museum :D you could host modular meets, electronics workshops, and maybe even gigs there too, all with help obviously. but it could be our weird electronic mecca
This sounds really good, Sam. You have been doing inspired and inspiring work. I suppose you could automate all the settings, put that would kind leave the vibe of the fixed filter bank behind. The filters themselves were clearly a great starting point. Glowing cats add something to the experience, so thanks.
Love the enclosure... they look like they belong together. That's such a fab filter! I can see why Hainbach is so nuts for it. When you've got the VCA version done... Imagine pumping a really really really really slow LFO into each one... maybe stick a bit of digital delay on it too and ....... ooooooooooh!!!! Korg VC-1
This is by far my favorite one. I bought a Moog 10 just for the 907 and this thing sounds just as good if not better. The Q is amazing. Make me one please. hahah
wow! Very aesthetically looking aparatus. In an amazing video with great music. That was pure joy to watch. Looking forward to your evening in Stuttgart, very soon :)
Love your vibe man on all your videos and great to see somebody young giving real passion in synthesizers, along with cuckoo you are both great personality’s for synth and gear lovers, keep up the good work
That's some bad ass industrial lab electro noizes, you could put in some sweet crisp beats into those and make records and also get a job in the movie industry.

this performance dance could have used a bit more lsd
@pcpaulius hahaa what

Oh yes, finally!
He bought all your stuff bro.
Hallo, ich bin HEINBACH! :)
@@ToTheGAMES ... good to have you back... ;)
Oh hainbach you just spread the test equipment fever! :)
good form bud! hope you guys keep doing what you do.
I was just thinking that we don't have enough mad scientists these days. You have my deepest respect!
In the future we'll bring our kids to visit the "British Interactive Museum of No Compu-Ah"
Look, World.. No Computer!
it might even be a thing at one point
@Tiadiad Fis is the museum of no computah. You got fat, mate?
@@rich1051414 yes i got very fat
shouldn't it be bri' ish ? :D
Wow, that green color and unmistakenly design brings back memories ;-) I was an electronics apprentice back in the early 80's at that Brüel & Kjær.
Believe in that museum plan! I think that is an awesome idea. Don't be scared to try it!
More hands on displays in spaces is important.
Your studio looks like a old submarine. Cool video like always!!!
10:24
Usually people either know what they’re talking about, or have good aesthetics, but you do both and it’s amazing
Just wanna say that you, Hainbach and Simon The Magpie have become my UA-cam holy trinity. You guys make UA-cam great again ❤️
I think you just communicated with another dimension 😄
I'd give two thumbs up if I could, only for the sheer amount of work that went in there.

Nice yellow jacket! Many French people love your work
The fact that you actually build things all the time sets you apart from so many other youtubers. Great stuff!
wow this filters have very nice disttortion to it i think. gives the sound extreme strenghth. sounds nearly like a soundgoodizer, like a preamp but stronger. this is wonderful
He had a DS-1 on the table... maybe it was that?
Wow.... how it shapes the noise is lush. Those ghosts - love ya work mate!

Also Sam: "Yeah I'm gonna need like 14 of these now."
Seriously though, the Frequency Bank looks fantastic, love the aesthetics blend.
It is a spectrometer not an oscilloscope!??
Your an absolute genius and the amount of work you put into that mixer was incredible
it think it's one of the best channels around here, the sound of this thing is just massive !!!
That is the best filter for drums I've ever heard. 😍
7:17 has a Stockhausen vibe to it. I think you gave me a few suggestions as to how those sounds were made back in the day. Awesome. Thanks!
there is just no stopping you! nice one Sam!
That thing would make some insane ambient sounds
9:35 it just genuinely sounded like infinitely many instruments combining to make the sound, like when a buildup is created from 20+ layers. You took a single loop and made it sound like 30 seconds from an average EDM song. That was amazing
7:05 sounds kinda like an old router dialing in :D
didnt know routers dialed in.

I love this channel. He builds and then plays it. Genius.
You’re the DaVinci of synths!! Thank you for your genius!!
"And I kinda got a little bit carried away" sums up your whole channel perfectly lol. Keep the ridiculousness coming bruv!!!
Dang! That fancy mixer is extremely elegant! As is the whole mainframe kit. You are mental. In a good way!
Fantastic, proper electronic music, keep it up,we used to mess around with different stuff in the 60s & 70s,experimentation is good
dude - it's so much fun listening to that sounds
nice "hands+arms on" frequency sweep. sounds good man
performance art right there
The Einstein of DIY synths! Love the electric cello sound at 8:37.
This video made my morning. Those are some otherworldly sounds.
sweet filter array...u and hainbach, and magpie, are doing some gr8 stuff
You know why this channel is so awesome, you up cycle gear most would not even take a second look at if they held it in their hands.
So damn cool

Some of the sweetest sounds ive heard in years ...that thing is amazing . Cheers man wicked .
Top work as always Sam! "...nearly as big as a baby!" Classic!
Some of the sickest sounds I have heard! This should make something truly brilliant 😎
This sounds really good, Sam. You have been doing inspired and inspiring work.
I suppose you could automate all the settings, put that would kind leave the vibe of the fixed filter bank behind.
The filters themselves were clearly a great starting point.
Glowing cats add something to the experience, so thanks.
im building VCA's into each knob :)! thats the next project on this one!!!
Bloomin' brilliant! I hadn't thought a fixed filter bank could sound this amazing. Thanks for a great ear-opener. LMNC.
You're my biggest inspiration! Please never stop making these videos! Much love brother!
Love the enclosure... they look like they belong together.
That's such a fab filter! I can see why Hainbach is so nuts for it.

Sam I really like all of what you do! Ever so wants to have a visit across the pond!
Waouh! Excellent! Big sound here !
Incredible work, Sam!
You're an absolute treasure.
This is by far my favorite one. I bought a Moog 10 just for the 907 and this thing sounds just as good if not better. The Q is amazing. Make me one please. hahah
Yikes! Ouch! Wow! Those gizmos are amazing!
You may be not old enough to realize that is the sound of the modem dialing to the internet. Great job man! Love it!
You have so many now.. Seeing them all together like that, is quite the sight to behold. 🤤
This has made me realized the power of fixed filter banks.... Now I am thinking about ordering one.
wow! Very aesthetically looking aparatus. In an amazing video with great music. That was pure joy to watch. Looking forward to your evening in Stuttgart, very soon :)
Uffda, this thing through a Big Muff = immediate HNW perfection. Great work as always, Sam!
First set of sound creation there would be an awesome otherworldly opening to a show - do it live!
Voll krass! Was? Das! Alles! Total... Oh, Mann! Tolles Ergebnis, sehr fleißig, cool.
OH MAN , DEFIANTLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE VIDEOS
Now make it into a massive vocoder
Yes
you are incredible !!!! im fascinated by your electronic talent !!!! wow :)
I love the smiley face on the back of the hi vis jacket. :-D
That's why the bruel & kjaer market is absolutely emptied... YOU GOT THEM ALL!!!!! ;-)
haha naaa. thats not me.haha. not recently anyways!!!
Honestly mate, where on earth do you find stuff like this? I’m amazed that you managed to find so many, especially for so cheap.. bravo Sam!
The Drumbute sounds awesome processed in that thing, even the hats sound spicy.
Great machine for the sound design of the horror movies =) Also me really like that funky-junky at background! You are really great as always!
One of these days you’re going to accidentally create a miniature black hole in that studio and then: Look Mum, No Universe.
Dacci Pucci hahahahha
Perhaps that should be Look.. no Mum... Just nothing, big, wide nothing.
Look mum, no.... .....
OH! So that's why I couldn't find any of these... You grabbed them all!!
Excellent!!
Lovely jubbly!!! Congrats!!
Dude you're like a cross between Bob Moog, John Lydon and a Wiggle. It's brilliant.
Man the lfo style.feedback is amazeing man. Nice chunky saw wave also
That thing sounds absolutely amazing, I would nerd out so much in your lab
You absolute madman. I love your work.
Like it! Sounds like pro Master. Master of all Masters.
Has the creativity, know-how, and technical brilliance to design and build devices to advance humankind; instead, builds crazy noise machines.
Mum is very impressed. I subscribed!
I love all your absession..its beauty...!
Love your vibe man on all your videos and great to see somebody young giving real passion in synthesizers, along with cuckoo you are both great personality’s for synth and gear lovers, keep up the good work
Awesome. Loving the backing tracks too
the music at about 3 minutes sounds a lot like megaman, and its aweeeeesome!
Oh, awesome! I now understand the appeal of a fixed filter bank. :)
So impressed!! I like it!
OMG -- that Elmo bit! Scarrrrrrry. Well done! :)
One of your best rig's yet.
Or is it a bend.
I didn't know how put but it wild.
You really are a great teacher and you make me laugh to. Thanks. If your ever in Tasmania (oz). Feel free to couch surf. 👍
Thanks for the video. We all enjoy twiddling a knob... ummm. That sounded wrong.
I'm enjoying the test equipment video craze as of late. keep up the good work bud!
One of your coolest videos! Well done !!
So happy I don't have to pretend to be a modular synth wiz. You got us covered, Sir.
Could also work as a
oversized 32 band eq
Was going to ask if an Alesis deq230 would do the same?
That’s essentially what this is. It’s just a giant array of band pass filters
Imagine if everyone had to get their filter sweeps by rolling their arms across thirty knobs. XD
Awesome project.
All these sounds seem right out of startrek or some other sci fi movie. I love em.
Brilliant engineer.
this looks so fun! i want one!
I'm sure that's what Richard D. James looked like when he was younger, it's really amazing!
I knew you were clever. But now, I have to declare you a genious!
Awesome work as always!
That's some bad ass industrial lab electro noizes, you could put in some sweet crisp beats into those and make records and also get a job in the movie industry.
Very cool project! You're a genius!
